Well, as far as Spider-man goes, the movies have been great because of what Peter Parker is doing. Not really about the villain, but the villain obviously contributes to what Peter Parker is doing. They connect the villains to Peter Parker, but the villains by themselves aren't really that amazing. Green Goblin was just a guy who experimented on himself and went crazy. Doc Ock was just a guy who was experimenting and was taken over by demonic robotic arms, and then just wanted to complete his experiment in resulting in blowing up New York City. These aren't amazing complex villains. What I like about Sam Raimi is he makes the movies about Peter Parker. You may not like the Peter Parker that Sam Raimi has created, but it's the Peter Parker that we got. And for what he is, they do a good job. Spider-man 1 was the Origin of Peter Parker choosing to be a hero. Spider-man 2 was realizing the consequences and giving up being a hero, but then being a hero anyways because he is a hero. Spider-man 3 just...got taken over by demonic meteor poop and went Dark Peter on us, set on revenge for the ACTUAL person who killed Uncle Ben... wow really? Sandman accidentally did it? He's unlucky. It didn't really work, or make sense, and Sam Raimi should stick to directing, not writing.
