Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 1

While I'm not a Mysterio fan, I think it made sense to have him as the final boss given the context of the game.

It is such a big thing to make illusions become reality. You can make anything happen and it was just the right opportunity to make Mysterio as big as he can possibly be. I can't think of other villain using it to the same extent as Mysterio given his abilities.

Regardless, he was the final boss in Friend or Foe too. I don't want to see him as the big last villain for a long time, now.

And the games should be using the Unreal engine(2, 2.5 and even 3), but we'll never get that unless someone else works on these games besides Beenox; if they did care about this game, they should've taken more time in working on this game to make SD a 9 or 10 instead of a 7, imo.

Where have you been?! Beenox doesn't get to decide how long they take to make games, Activision does. Please pay more attention.

Yah, because it's not like Joker is Batman's greatest enemy, right? Awful comeback dude :o

I said "final villain." That would be Titan-Joker, not just Joker. Great reading dude.

This is "The Samaritan", the new Unreal Engine 3 tech demo:
[YT]RSXyztq_0uM[/YT]
Imagine an open world Spider-Man game that looks like this.
That would be incredible if it ohappened.

Btw, Arkham City is NOT using the Unreal Engine 3. The graphics aren't even close to being as good as what's shown in the video I quoted. DOn't get me wrong, the graphics are fantastic, but they don't touch the Unreal 3 engine.

:awesome:

What is an "ignorant game"? A game spouting racial slurs at you? Sometimes you're just talking out of your ass Anno(:woot:). For one, the graphics in Shattered Dimensions can hardly be called bad by any standards. And I for one do not want any Unreal Engine in Spider-Man, not every game needs it.

An ignorant game is something with an idiotic storyline, such as what we were given in SD. The beginning could've led us to believe something spectacular would happen, but it had a terrible third act.

And...to not want the Unreal engine is showing that you don't seem to care if Spider-Man gets a great-looking masterpiece. Unreal shows how a game can look VERY real, and you wouldn't want that? Ahh, well, I guess some people prefer to have games that resemble Sega.

I can give you that the story wasn't all it could be, but everything else is just your personal opinion. I do think Beenox care about making good Spider-Man games, no developer sets out to make a bad game.

That's true, no developer sets to make a bad game, but usually the developers think what they're making is a good game, while fans think the opposite.

And you continue to show a complete lack of understanding on how the game industry work by saying stuff like this.

By saying Shattered Dimensions was a 7/10? How is that a complete lack of understanding? That was basically SD's average rating.

Where have you been?! Beenox doesn't get to decide how long they take to make games, Activision does. Please pay more attention.

And Beenox is pulling a Sam Raimi. That's nice. Hey, maybe Disney or whoever should pull the license away and let someone else that cares about the character?

I said "final villain." That would be Titan-Joker, not just Joker. Great reading dude.

Didn't know the Titan drug took the soul out of the Joker character. I am assuming you were playing the more philosophical version of Arkham Asylum?

And...even with it being Titan Joker; certain moves had to happen for Joker to be a good rivalry at the end. Mysterio turned into a giant, and Joker, who doesn't even possess the tricks and etc that Mysterio has, took something that would make him a match.

Like I said, terrible comeback. You would rather have just a Batman v Joker final battle that would only last like a minute of gameplay since Joker obviously has no fighting capability that Batman has, and even Nolan knew about it as he made Joker use two dogs and a pipe on trying to take down the Bat.

Thank you. Through all of my "*****ing", no one answered my question, lol.

So I guess it's 2.5 that AC is using.

btw, I also don't think Spidey needs the unreal 3 engine. He just needs a great game with decent graphics and gameplay. Simple as that.

Hrm...so wikipedia is showing that both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City used 3. It didn't look like it though.

Once again, where have you been? Beenox has NO CONTROL over it. They are owned by Activision. And Disney can't take away their control, they are under contract until 2017.

I never once said that they should fight one-on-one. But it's pretty widley regarded that the final fight in Arkham Asylum is disappointing, so SOMETHING different should have been done.

To say it's not even close is a huge misstatement. Watching Hugo Strange's trailer can easily confuse someone if the video is from a game or a short movie for a game. The graphics, lightning, motion...are all just near perfect.

^^ That's a CG trailer, not gameplay.

People seem to be putting the Arkham Asylum series on a pedetal. While it's fantastic, There are other games out there that take the cake more than Arkham. Red Dead Redemption being one of them.

The Samaritan video is not gameplay either.

I'm not putting Arkham City on a pedestal, but to say its graphics aren't even close to being as good is a bold statement.

.

That's not entirely accurate. Disney could take back the rights to their characters, they'd just have to buy out the remaining years of the contract which just wouldn't be fiscally advantageous.

Why would they do that? That's a lot of money for something they will get eventually anyway.

I didn't once say they would, in fact I made it very clear it wouldnt be a smart move at this point. I was just stating they have that option.

The only way I'd see them stepping in is if Activision turned the Spidey name into something worthless like they have done with Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero.

I never said you did, I was just stating why the wouldn't.

And yes, that is the only possible way, and even then...

Okay, so Beenox has no right in to say what they should do or not to do in regards to trying to make the best Spider-Man game possible?

I never once said that they should fight one-on-one. But it's pretty widley regarded that the final fight in Arkham Asylum is disappointing, so SOMETHING different should have been done.

I wouldn't say disappointing as it was necessary, imo, but saying it wasn't the Joker is just stupid.

Via looking up on wikipedia, AA and AC is using 3. BUT...I am not saying Arkham Asylum was/is the best game out there, but c'mon, AA IS the best superhero game ever made. That should definitely be fact.

RDR, I LOVE that game, but my love for AA is just a tiny bit higher.

Disney....do this.

Never said that, but there is only so much they can do in 1 year of development.

I didn't say it wasn't Joker, I said it wasn't JUST Joker. And a good alternative could have been Joker controlling a Titan-fueled Killer Croc. THAT would be awesome.

Croc...with Titan?
That's Godzilla!

I forgot it's Batman that he's up against. No biggie.

The whole story was unspectacular, it what it set out to do and nothing more. Sure you had side stories in Noir and 2099 but thats it. The third act was just in line with the rest of the game. And thats not even what ignorant means.

And...to not want the Unreal engine is showing that you don't seem to care if Spider-Man gets a great-looking masterpiece. Unreal shows how a game can look VERY real, and you wouldn't want that? Ahh, well, I guess some people prefer to have games that resemble Sega.
So just because I don't want Unreal I don't care about the game? Thats moronic. Unreal isn't even the best looking engine out there. For console gaming that would be the Naughty Dog engine. And I happen to think that the graphics in SD were quite nice. Maybe not top tier but very fitting to the character.

That's true, no developer sets to make a bad game, but usually the developers think what they're making is a good game, while fans think the opposite.
You say yourself that SD was a 7. How is that a bad game? Thats in the upper regions of a 10-point scale. Maybe not a great game but certainly a good one.

By saying Shattered Dimensions was a 7/10? How is that a complete lack of understanding? That was basically SD's average rating.
That was about you thinking Beenox could just "take" more time to work on the game. It doesn't work like that. They get a deadline that they need to follow.

And while that "Samaritan" trailer sure is nice, graphics like that wouldn't run on todays consoles.

I don't get the hate for having Mysterio as the main baddie in SD. I like that the devs pay attention to other villains than Venom etc. Mysterio is a very underrated villain with loads of potential. Sadly though, the story in SD sucked.

Another example is having Electro as the main baddie in Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro. That was great imo.

^^ That's a CG trailer, not gameplay.

There are better games out there, yes. But there is no other superhero game that even come close to be as good as AA. And with AC looking even better, the bar will probably be set even higher. Spider-Man has nothing to compete with that yet.

Oh, and I'd love for a Spider-Man game with the Unreal engine. But it's not necessary to have that to be a great game.

Just to be clear, I wouldn't throw a fit if a Spider-Man game used Unreal, I just don't see the need for it. There is a reason no open world games uses Unreal for example.

Arkham City?
