Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 1

Wow, that concept art really showed me. Man how annoying it must be for Spider-Man to only have those small, confined spaces to swing in.

The web attaching in Shattered Dimensions was so irregular but there was some logic to it. You couldn't web swing in open areas, only when there was something that your web could hypothetically attach to. It was kinda lame tho.

this game seems like it could pass off as DLC for Shattered Dimensions. the gameplay, graphics, and design look very much the same

Concept art of Alchemax.

Amazing:

Hrm...maybe I'm just confused about the usage of time travel myself, but, how does the death of Spider-Man turn the Daily Bugle in the present to Alchemax shown in the trailer? Unless the scientist/villain sticks around in the present? But, then...why would there be some baddie in 2099?

Nonetheless, the art does look nice, but still, I think my question is valuable, haha.

Remember my prediction of the Alchemax zoo and a fight with Lizard? Hahaha.

A spiritual sequel. This game's story has nothing to do with SD.

If anything, Edge Of Time is to Shattered Dimensions as Red Dead Redemption was to Red Dead Revolver.

Not really. Besides dead eye, redemption didn't borrow anything from revolver, this game appears to be a cut and paste from SD.

a villain from 2099 goes back in time to kill Spider-Man and start Alchemax early so that it has the chance to take over NY.

No, Edge of Time is to Shattered Dimensions as Red Dead Redemption was to GTA4; new setting with nearly identical gameplay mechanics.

As much as i hate to see GTA and RDR in the same sentence as SD and EoT, that's a slightly better analogy.

Man... I haven't had any interest in a Spider-man game since the movie game for Spider-man 2. This game and the last one just look so unappealing to me. I don't like a world where Batman games are amazing and Spider-man games are mediocre.

I say a remake of Spider-man for the PSX is in order.

@socool: Pretty much that. Except its with the same characters. Its gonna be so lame if they pretend Shattered Dimensions never happened in the game.

Ahh, okay. I kinda thought that after I typed down that question. So...the villain who time travelled will go back to 2099 after Alchemax takes over Daily Bugle or how come 2099 will be so important to play?

It makes you wonder...what if you were to kill the grandparents or even great grandparents(in the present) of the villain's family, then what would happen to the entire time stream?

Ahh, okay. Well, I never played GTA4, so, my bad, haha.

But I'm pretty sure Edge Of Time will make it seem that SD never happened.

Was that in the voice over? Didn't hear that :P

Also, wouldn't this NOT feel like a rehash for you anyway? You know, since you never actually played the game, you just watched videos on youtube?
It felt like watching a cartoon, two guys coming from there this direction repeating the things they did there still shouts rehash

I'd love to see a great remake of both games

I'm looking to pick up a Spidey game this weekend. But, I'm not sure which one to go for. Either Shattered Dimensions or Web of Shadows...any advice?

Its like being kicked in the balls or kicked in the head. Both hurt, but on different levels.

I personally say go with Shattered Dimensions. There was some good gameplay elements, some of the boss battles were fun and the voice acting for the Spidey's is FAR better than what you'll find in WoS.

Ehh, red Dead Redmeption isn't exactly like GTA IV as people think. Some of the controls are similar, yes, but it felt like a new exprience, IMO.

SD is the superior game. Best Spidey title in years

I'm sure everyone will say Shattered Dimensions. The only worthwhile thing WoS has is combat. Voice acting and the storyline sucks with many unanswered questions.

Kicked in the balls - WoS

Kicked in the head - SD

Avoid WoS, entirely

Wolverine and Black Cat had their best voice actors, Luke sounds good, the rest are meh, Kingpin SUCKS

Kicked in the head - SD
They both hurt a lot, but a kick in the balls moves the pain to the stomach with me, and it hurts a lot

Again, Spider-Aziz, didn't you NOT actually play SD? At all?

WoS has the best combat of any Spider-Man game to date (i'd give 2nd place to SM2 or SM3). It also has some decently fun free roaming. The webslinging is 2nd best (SM2's being 1st place).

There's plenty of fun to be had with WoS...just don't expect a good story and the voice acting is attrocious.

Also...Spider-Aziz...any opinion you have on SD (other than the story or it's graphical quality) is completely invalidated by the fact that you made a lengthy review and NEVER ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME. Which is really ridiculous. It's like reviewing a movie you watched while blind folded. Sure you got the audio...but you didn't actually experience all the movie had to offer.

Nor interacted with a medium the way it was intended. A game is all about how it makes you feel whilst the control is in your hand, something you can't get from game videos.
