Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 1

Nor interacted with a medium the way it was intended. A game is all about how it makes you feel whilst the control is in your hand, something you can't get from game videos.

Correct. Watching someone playing a game is the exact same as watching a movie. You're not interacting with it...and games are, by definition, interactive entertainment!

So review a game's graphics and stories to your heart's content...but don't attempt to give a full review or opinions of the game itself without actually picking up the damn controller and playing it.

Which, if you are referring to SD, wasnt that good. The game was as mediocre as you can get, so if he stated that in his review, then he's right, regardless of rather or not he played it.

But yea, it's tough to get the feel of somethin without having actually played it

Again, Spider-Aziz, didn't you NOT actually play SD? At all?
Doesn't this get old? It was amusing for a while

Also...Spider-Aziz...any opinion you have on SD (other than the story or it's graphical quality) is completely invalidated by the fact that you made a lengthy review and NEVER ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME. Which is really ridiculous. It's like reviewing a movie you watched while blind folded. Sure you got the audio...but you didn't actually experience all the movie had to offer.

I finished it a couple of times recently on PC, my thought of it didn't change

I enjoy the free fall in Spider-Man 2099 and the stealth in NOIR, but every level has almost the same pattern, and Beat 'Em Ups get old so soon in a game that's almost all there is to do

Also, the NOIR part in the final fight is annoying, he covers too much distance to reach Mysterio, annoying

Yea theres some good elements in SD, but overall the game is just weak. I enjoyed the stealth in Noir and the look of 2099 but amazing and ultimate(minus Keaton) were just lame. The only thing that keeps me going back to amazing is the Scarlett Spider-Man outfit.

You could have easily said your thoughts of the levels just by viewing videos on YouTube though. Just saying.

TBH, I think the boss battles alone make the game worth at least a rent if those are at least as good as the ones in SD.

Beenox could make a truly epic Green Goblin battle if they put lots of effort in it.

I also think a Hydro-Man battle could be epic and I actually have a feeling he'll be in this game (they spoke of villains that have never appeared in any game before).

Hells yeah, Hydro-Man would be awesome. The glitchy but epic Sandman level in Shattered Dimensions more than enough filled all my Sandman needs, and I think Hydro-Man could make a great adversary. Imagine trying to survive flooding corridors while he could jump out and try to grab you. Like the Killer Croc segment, but with the potential to be more awesome.

As for villains not seen in games, I'm also hoping that goes for 2099 villains from the comics. Since Peter David is writing, he could probably use some of the more obscure 2099 rogues like Specialist, Venture and Risque, Data Pirate, and even revamp them for the game.

I don't want Beenox creating any villains for this game. There is a deep enough rogues gallery that doesnt require them to try and think of something new.

I totally agree with you, there is no need to create an original villain when Spidey has a pretty wide rogues gallery, some of which have never been seen in any games.

Well if its Peter David creating a new villain, it would be fine. He does know his 2099.

I don't mind if they create a new villain for the 2099 counterpart. It does lack the big roster that Amazing has built up for all these years...

Yeah, the new villains created for 2099 in Shattered Dimensions didn't bother me as much, since showcasing how the main villains were in other dimensions was part of the attraction, and I understand if they were trying to come up with as many incarnations of iconic villains as possible, so I could see why some of the other 2099 rogues were passed by.

However, now that this new game is featuring much more of the regular and 2099 worlds, and Peter David is much more involved with his own creation, I do expect to see as much from the 2099 world from the comics as possible. This means seeing some of the more obscure characters from that series, such as Tyler Stone, the head of Alchemax, or other supporting characters, as well as villains.

The way it was worded in the interview, they made it sound as if the original characters would be minor or NPCs, rather than villains. However, if we do see a brand-new 2099 villain, I do hope it's for a good reason and the villain is very cool. I wouldn't worry too much about original characters in the regular Spidey time, though.

So, what never-used-before villains do you think will make it in?

As I said, Hydro-Man and The Spot feel kinda likely. But, what about odd picks such as Speed Demon, Tarantula, Boomerang etc.? I think Speed Demon could be kinda fun actually.

Oh, and when that preview spoke of hearing the voice of Hobgoblin...I think it's probably that they immediately connect Steven Blum's voice to Hobgoblin 2099 from SD. I think it's much more likely that he'll voice 616 Green Goblin this time instead.

I've mentioned him before, but i'd love to see the Punisher running interference.

Oh lord please! If Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (and i mean 616 no lame ass new 2099 version), shows up, then ill buy the game day one.

Yeah I would as well!

Speaking of classic GG, he's never been used in any of the TV-console games PSX and upwards right? Would that maybe count as "never used before"?

Since the PSx, the only time 616 Osborn has been the primary villain in a console title was in the movie game, unless im missing one.

He was in the Ultimate game but that dumb Hulk-Goblin doesnt count, at all.

I really hope for Hydro-Man to be in this. He could make for an awesome boss. The Sandman level in SD was the best a Sandman level could possibly be so I don't want him for a while now. The Spot is one I really want to.

Boomerang has been seen in a video game tho, he was in Ultimate Spider-Man as a random crime-boss. (Tho calling him a boss may be to nice.) Would love to see Stilt-Man tho.

It's really weird how the Spider-Man games seems to go out of their way to not include Green Goblin or Doc Ock, considering they are what the fans want.

Yeah but that was movie Green Goblin...ah, I guess that doesn't make it count. But I still think he's in this time. Many fans seem to almost demand that.

Oh and btw, am I the only one who actually wouldn't mind a return of Willem Dafoe voicing Green Goblin? I think he did a perfect job in the movie game and actually prefer him over Steven Blum.

Green Goblin was both a boss and a playable character in Ultimate Alliance 2. Don't know if it counts, but, yeah.

Unlikely, but not impossible. Dafoe has voice acted in a video game before (as a James Bond villain, no less), and since they did have to money to get NPH in Shattered Dimensions before...

I have no problem with Dafoe returning. He had a good voice. Although I prefer Blum, even if I don't think his voice is exactly what Green Goblin should sound like in my opinion. Blum also have one up on Dafoe being that he is a professional voice actor, and has a more versatile voice.

I liked Dafoe's Goblin so i wouldnt be opposed to that, but id really like another team up of Josh Keaton and Steve Blum. I thought they were great together in Spectacular.
