Glad to see that that Black Cat is the ****ty future version and not the original.

Meh. Don't really care about Black Cat.

Who were the blue-haired women 2099 was fighting?

I really just dont like the look of everything tho. Not a fan of the generic science lab look the game seems to taking place in.

I...agree, actually. That's why the new trailer didn't excite me that much. Everything looks too much like the same. SD had some diverse locations, while this is pretty much the same level. Where's the jungle sections they bragged about?

There was a picture of a few trees in the building

The new trailer didn't really do anything for me, although it's cool the 2 Spidey's will be the other's time at some point.

Not bad. Not bad. Not really digging the "hammer" webbing attack and is Spidey 2099 doing the same webshooting gestures as Pete? I remembered in SD that instead of shooting webs from the top his forearm, his hand gestures were the same as Pete's.

Seeing how so far they mainly rehashed the mechanics of controlling characters, I'd assume he's still shooting his web from his wrists

Just caught most of the live-feed from Gamespot.

Some notes:

* Another example of the time altering gameplay was shown: Amazing taking down incubating mutants in order to save 2099 from a wave of more powerful versions.

* Amazing can also use the time stopping move from 2099 (called "time paradox") to freeze enemies mid-air and attack them.

* More puzzle gameplay was show, with 2099 controlling the gravity settings of a room to create a floating path of debris to reach rooms in the top floor. This moment is timed.

* The "Web of Destiny" feature from SD will return, with the side-quests simply referred to as "Challenges".

* More unlockables than SD. Defeating an enemy for the first time will unlock a character trophy for it, as opposed to being grouped together like SD. Around 4 trophies were earned in the demo.

* In addition to skins and character trophies, golden spider emblems and newspapers can be collected. No idea what the emblems do. The newspapers had a humorous sub-plot involving Flash Thompson.

Suddenly my excitement waned a lot

Sounds nice

What sort of challenges? I hope they aren't all "Beat the $#%^ out of them" kind, it's getting even older than too old

Sounds interesting

Even in the future, there is no place for bras.

well i wanted to create a whole new topic for this but oh well :P

this is my my opinion on whats going on so you can maybe comment and give your own so we can have a nice chat going on here

I've been playing spidey games since the ps1 and i gotta say i love what Beenox did for spidey, 1st they realised that voice acting is a huge deal even more for spidey and they nailed it in SD now in EoT they're going with the voice of spectacular spider-man and the one from the 90's show? awesome! can't fail there
big_smile.gif

the combat the way i see it it much better then in previous games since they give you a ton of web attacks that just look awesome! the only thing missing is a more ironed counter and dodge system so he dodges and counters depending on the situation and where he's attacked from that would be sweet.

Also i don't know if anyone else feels this but i feel like SD may have opened the door for a USM2? or maybe a 2099 game? the city from 2099 is just so awesome i can't help but feel it needs a great free roam game to complement it.

Now this brings me to my biggest problem with beenox, and don't get me wrong i don't mind a linear spidey game every now and then, but i feel like spider-man was made to swing around new york fighting thugs and muggers, stopping random crime, and that is one of the things i hope for in the next spidey title.

Random crimes Spidey 2 had it right except maybe the balloon mission, but muggers, brake ins, beatdowns, heists etc... are what spidey fights against in NY sure we need villains but when swinging around we need crime so we can feel awesome for saving that lady from certain r4p3 xD

Now here is where i start to question things, i saw the new amazing spider-man trailer (and to me looks more like ultimate had a child with amazing but whateves) and i love it that Gwen is the main love of peter's youth and the one he'll never forget but they changed his costume, why would they do that? c'mon! i have mixed feelings about what i saw but i hope it's an awesome movie!

speaking of costumes another thing Beenox did right is adding alternate costumes not seen since Ultimate Spidey (or web of shadows if you played it on wii) for me having alternate costumes makes me want to play the game all over again to watch the cutcenes with different costumes and see it in action, sure it's not as awesome as if you could change and then swing around the city stopping crime and beating bad guys with your new slick outfit, but it's a step in the right direction(except those you can only get for pre ordering @ certain shops that's BS!)

Now the questions in my mind are these, will the movie game have free roam? will beenox make it? if not can we expect a new Beenox spidey game next year? do you think beenox will keep the linear style of gameplay or do you think that they'll eventually make a free roam one? (i pray for a beenox spidey game just for the fact it's comic based, i don't enjoy movie games as much)

What do you see in spidey's future?

i hope you read what i had to say and comment on it :awesome:

Expect a Beenox Spider-Man game next year, but not so much of a movie adaption
And welcome MrCitrin3

YAY a reply :D

Thank you :)

Nice i hope they're given more time to work on spidey titles but knowing activision they'll just have to be awesome Developers and make great games happen!

So you think another studio will be making the movie game?

honestly i'd rather they only make games with time and with original ideas getting the source material from the comics then try and milk a movie : /

so Spider-Aziz do you think that they'll keep up the linear style of game?

Yea we'd all like them to just use the comics as a source but movie tie ins are cheap to produce and make a lot of money. Activision looooooooves money, so they'll keep doing them.

I agree with what you said earlier, I deff feel Spidey is FAR more suited to a free roam environment rather than a linear one.

Yup not that these games are bad, i just don't think that just running around in the alchemax building is what spidey is all about...

my experience with the comics he always saved people falling from buildings, trapped in cars, normal criminals... not just Highly trained goons who can fight spider-man toe to toe (In SD on Hard they would kick spidey's ass if you didn't play right :P )

but i do think that they will listen to us and make an open world spidey

I agree that Spider-Man belongs in a free roam NY.

But since Activision don't want to spend time developing a good Spider-Man experience, I'm happy that Beenox focus on linear games because a year is way too little time to make a good free roam game these days.

I wish they had two teams to work on Spider-man games. One team to put out the occasional lackluster Spider-Man game every year and the 2nd team gets to spend 2-3 years on another Spider-Man title.

I said this same thing a while ago, and I completely agree.

kind of like EA, with the need for speed franchise.

well it's not impossible but EoT needs to sell really well for them to make that kind of deal...

they could also try and improve on what they made...

see EoT improves some aspects of SD and they must by ironing details that went wrong on SD

so why can't they put the best effort into an open world spidey game and then improve on that?

and the way i see it they should have 2 teams with 2 years each alternating years like
call of duty does :D

that would make consistent year after year spidey games :D

Eh, not really. To understand why we arent getting good Spidey titles, you need to understand Activision. Activision cares for one thing and one thing only. Money. Now thats fine, they are a business after all, however Activision doesnt rely on their games to sell, they rely on their licenses to sell. Call of Duty has become a name, a name that sell very well. Spider-Man is a name, that for a while, sold really well. Its why they spend the money to get those licenses. They realize its the name that sells. They can take a title, develop it for very little money and turn out a decent profit. They keep doing this until the title is no longer making a large profit. Once that happens, they dump it. This happened to Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero. They have now taken this approach to Spidey. They want to push as many Spidey games out as they can before the license goes stale, which they are betting it will.

So you would think that if EoT were to come to huge sales that'd theyd turn around and put that money into creating a great Spidey title, but in fact itd be the complete opposite. Theyd say they have a great success in the formula and just completely rehash it until it no longer works. Like iv said, theyve done it all before.
