Eh, not really. To understand why we arent getting good Spidey titles, you need to understand Activision. Activision cares for one thing and one thing only. Money. Now thats fine, they are a business after all, however Activision doesnt rely on their games to sell, they rely on their licenses to sell. Call of Duty has become a name, a name that sell very well. Spider-Man is a name, that for a while, sold really well. Its why they spend the money to get those licenses. They realize its the name that sells. They can take a title, develop it for very little money and turn out a decent profit. They keep doing this until the title is no longer making a large profit. Once that happens, they dump it. This happened to Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero. They have now taken this approach to Spidey. They want to push as many Spidey games out as they can before the license goes stale, which they are betting it will.
So you would think that if EoT were to come to huge sales that'd theyd turn around and put that money into creating a great Spidey title, but in fact itd be the complete opposite. Theyd say they have a great success in the formula and just completely rehash it until it no longer works. Like iv said, theyve done it all before.
true... and i didn't mean call of duty call of duty just the system :P cod hasn't felt good since cod4
but i don't really care about cod... i care about something that's been with me all my life... and many people think i'm childish for caring and say it's not important... i don't feel that...
the first comic i got was a spidey comic, and i watched the 90's show growing up... and i would love to think there's hope for spidey games
i mean look at batman... batman forever (only old skool one i played) sucked ass, even batman begins wasn't that great of a game...
but in the right hands a game that feels like batman was created... and i don't care what they ripped off... it feels like batman, nice art and style, awesome voice work, and now Arkham city looks to be an even better game...
am i wrong to think beenox might end up doing for spidey what rocksteady did for b-man?
i won't turn down a spidey game for not being an open world game, sure i feel that's what spidey needs in order to fully blow our freaking minds!
but i still think these are good spidey games none the less.
and i know Activision is a more driven by money then making good games
but with effort maybe beenox can provide good games even with those odds... i don't know
but i would really like to think so
