Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 2

I'm not sure I agree, while wos was bad, I did see alot of potential, it just felt rough around the edges, and I'm speaking mechanically not story wise. IMO.

Story was just as bad. Even the really horrible, horrible, horrrribble PS2 game bothered to explain what the hell happened to Venom. Gameplay, like the combat system, wasn't bad. But free-roam served nothing other than doing the same objectives again and again and again throughout the entire city.

Exactly, the gameplay was my favorite part of that game, it was a different combat system that still felt very much like spidey.

Eh, not really. Certain parts of the gameplay, yes. And even though I loved playing as Symbiote Spidey, regular Spidey had moves that made him appear more like the Flash. And the combat alone doesn't make a good free-roam game.

And they wouldn't have delved any deeper had they with free-roam again. WoS probably was the worst and most shallow free-roam Spider-Man to date.
It is, but now I think it's better than SD, less annoying and flashy backgrounds
They need more time to develop games, great deal of time
I'd love to have a free roam city with an actual Manhattan that connects to New Jersey, just for kicks and change of scenery, no need for story missions

I actually thought WoS combat was really bad. You ended up doing the same things all over in a very annoying way. And the moves didn't feel like Spidey-moves at all.

Where is all the "potential" that Beenox posseses? Im not seeing it. Sure they gave us a SM game that was better than the recent titles but that's not saying much, at all. They still crafted a fairly mediocre title. The fun of SD ends at a few good animations and a lot of alt costumes. That's about it. I think Beenox is great at providing fan service, but that's about as far as it goes. So far they've given us uninspired gameplay and a lackluster story. That trend looks to continue in EoT.

the "potential" In my person opinion is in things like the voice acters, different gameplay, cool ideas, and the combat just needs a little work I think that if they made spidy fight like the noir spidey then the combat might have been better.

Yea i agree in the voice acting, imo, its been the best in a Spidey to date, but id put that more under just fan service. I still don't think they know how to craft a good game though.

give them another chance! i'll wait till the game after EoT (not movie based) and decide if they really want to improve or not...

i'm not going to say that can't craft a good game now... it's still way to early for that...

Eh I don't think it is. I mean it's all a prediction but based off what iv seen I'm fairly confident in my prediction.

well you might be confident you won't like the game... after i play it if i enjoyed it i'll say it was worth it...

and for me it's to early to jump the gun and say that they can't do it when i enjoyed SD if i enjoy EoT i have no reason to say that they can't deliver a good free roam one since they haven't done it

i'll play SD or EoT over WoS any day

awful voice work, no side missions, all the crimes where just random dudes vs police and they added costumes to the wii version but not the ps3 360 versions? wtf?!
not to mention like some one else said red and blue spidey's moves made him look more like the flash in some cases, and the only thing that felt like spidey was bouncing from enemie to enemie and being the same ugly transition move everytime got old very fast

soooo i'm not as happy as i could be spidey game wise but they could be a lot worse! and i do mean a lot, and this is just a matter of opinion of course... :awesome:

I think you all know my stance on the game, so I'm not gonna talk about that. But one move I really like in EoT is that you can shoot web balls while jumping. It looks straight out of the comics. I thought I saw it back when that 13 minute gameplay was released, but it was taken down before I could confirm it. Looks sweet.

But one thing that irks on me a little bit, although the individual animations are nice and really do look good, the still need to some transitional animations. It's just so easy to spot where they start and end. Was the same way in SD to.

i didn't see it so i dunno, i feel like gfx's wise they are the best spidey games yet, sure animations could use a little more work but if they keep improving

i don't see any other way to do it... they don't have 2 or 3 dev years they have to improve title after title

and that's what i was talking about WoS when you bounced around there was NO transitional animation you could be curled into a ball Press Y and presto changed completly looks so awkward :/

i really like the animation a gfx's style in SD and i'm liking this one aswell makes me want to see a beenox open world game even more :P

also SD playing ultimate spidey really made me wish for USM2 :whatever:

WOS had amazing gameplay that outshines SD and EOT, imo.

Everything else, though, WOS failed tremendously.

well it's a spidey sandbox game gone wrong

and sure it had some great gameplay ideas but could have been way more polished then they where... the only reason why i still play it is to take my Symbiote for a spin :P

and i know some won't agree with me i feel spidey needs a system like Prototype had where you could press a button to sprint and be all acrobatic and crap like only spidey could :P

I don't agree on the gameplay of Prototype, but the developers behind Prototype should do the movie tie-in, imo.

Same here. The gameplay bored me.

To me, the perfect Spidey combat would be a mix between Ultimate Spider-Man and the Batman games. Spidey's rubber ball gameplay combined with Batman's context sensitive combat. I want to be able to dance around a dozen foes and counter all their attacks.

I really liked the counter system for Spider-Man 2. Whenever the spider-sense flashed, we just needed to press circle and Spidey would dodge, which could be followed by a web or melee attack. That was simple, efficient and well done.

Oh i agree.

WoS is easily one of the worst super hero titles iv ever played. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about that game. Hell i couldnt even finish it, it was just awful.

I had fun with SD as well, but im not content with that. I still want a better game and i dont mean slightly better which is what EoT looks to be.

This, this, this.

It boggles my mind that the dev's havent implemented a system like that. Instead we get some anime inspired arial combos. I know Spidey can do some crazy things but last time i checked, gravity still applied to the guy and his foes.

I love the speed button, but to use that button to make acrobatic as well is sort of unnecessary

Gameplay in Prototype beats the shell out of WoS

like I said they should make the combat like in the noir levels where he would jump up on there shoulders and hit them in the head or grab them and flip over them and kick them in the face things like that.

I'd love to have a game as such, and no flash, it bugs me

I enjoy some of the anime moves when I do them, don't mind a few, but I kind of agree on what you said here
