Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 3

Unfortunately, fans seem to be will to pay not only early in a pre-order but extra money for costumes and the like for these games... Doesn't send a good message of gamers as rational consumers...

You mean like buying weapon skins for Gears of War 3???

Same goes for the Future Foundation and Big Time costumes, they are pre-order, it feels like you have to order a different copy for each costume

Those are early unlocks. You can still unlock them in-game, just not early.

The Identity Crisis pack, like the Cosmic one last year, is the ONLY DLC this game will get.

Wolvie's point still stands though, they placed so much effort on costumes here and advertised them as if they are of high value for the game

With that I still seem to have some hopes for this game, and less confident about it being the third stinker in a row

They should have the Spider-Armor mk 2 from Big Time in this game.

Like buying the useless skins for MK 2011, not the klassik's with different moves

There were no paid skins other than the classic skins. The only ones you paid for were the collection of Scorpion, Reptile, Sub, Mileena, Kitana and Jade. And 3 of those came with new fatalities. You got 2 FREE skins with each DLC character though, or through a FREE update.

Not a huge fan of the idea behind those Gears 3 Weapons skins either.... That has microsoft written all over it.

I like Scarlet Spider-Man too. I'd like to see that one in the game, too.

It probably will be, seeing that it was in shattered dimensions

I'd like the Spider-Ben look a lot more if his lower costume was all blue and didn't have the weird areas of the legs where the red & webbed-theme patterns are.

When should the first reviews come?

But isn't the game coming out next week?
We could have something by the weekend, at least.

We should get some reviews soon I think. They use to review at least a few days before release. It will be some very interesting reads. As I've said, I think Edge of Time will be surprisingly good.

From the previews I read, I think it'll be good, too, and I believe the story will be one of the high points of the game. I'm concerned about the fun factor, the gameplay and the variety of scenario and challenges, since we haven't seen any other villains after AV and BC.

Reviews will probably hit Tuesday, I don't believe for a second that Activision will lift the embargo until release day. SD and X-Men Destiny had it this way and this probably won't be different.

Like Oscorp, I think this will get some pretty good reviews. No top scores, but in the 7 to 8 range, much like Shattered. May be considered better if some of the kinks are ironed out. We'll see.

Yeah the story will probably be one of the very good stuff in the game. Maybe the story itself won't be more than good, but the way they present the story (some previews said this game feels very cinematic, for example) will be pretty awesome I think.

But I am, as well as you, pretty concerned about the variety in the gameplay itself. The boss battles will be great, that's one thing for sure. Just look at the Anti-Venom boss battle. I think it looks epic. But except for those, I think the game will lack a bit in that it will feel too repetitive, much like SD. And I'm still not really digging the combat.

Another thing I'm a bit concerned about is the environment. It looks pretty boring so far. But the graphics look great IMO.

About the villains, they've said that there will be alot of villains in this game that we're familiar with. There maybe won't be 13 as in SD, but almost up there I think. Also, if the villains who are present in the game really fit into the story and settings, then I won't be too concerned about the number of villains. Maybe we will face a villain multiple times? We've heard something about Doc Ock being present in this game, not entirely as a villain though. But I think you will have at least one epic battle against him.

I think if we're lucky, we can get some reviews tomorrow. No reviews during the weekend though.

Yeah, I think that overall, the good will overweight the bad. It will probably have about the same score as Shattered Dimension had, but still be considered the better of the two.

Oh and btw, didn't somebody a pretty long time ago say that during a presentation of the game, you could hear a laugh that sounded identical to Hobgoblin 2099's in SD? Green Goblin maybe?

I hope so. I swear if i find out Osborn is in the game in a significant way, I'll buy day one
