Gameplay looked fun, and the voice work is fantastic, but tbh, this is a dissapointment, IMO. Spidey has a vast rogues gallery spanning 49 years and this is what they do?

If you were going to get it anyway, this shouldn't change your mind. I'm sure Beenox knows what they're doing. Sometimes only specific villains can make the story, and this is one of those times.

Seriously, sometimes..... I just don't freaking understand fanboys...

So, one of the biggest complaints for Shattered Dimensions, one of the BIGGEST complaints, amongst reviewers and fans, was the Villain glut... How the game was essentially just a series of boss fights strung together.

Now this game apparently goes the OPPOSITE direction, and that is an absolute deal breaker for people? I mean, I for one, am not committed either way on this game, but I'm interested in whether the story is good, if it's fun, if it plays well, with variety... But not enough 'boss battles' is a deal breaker? Man.... I'm starting to see why Activision makes so many failed attempts of video games, because every game they try to reinvent their way of doing things, or try a new dev team, to keep up with what the fans want, but it's never gonna work.

I think perhaps, Activision should just release a game where you play a mannequin who only fights other mannequins in an empty warehouse, and you can dress up all the characters to be whatever hero you want, in whatever location you want.... Nothing else matters right, as long as someone who looks like your favourite hero gets to fight someone who looks like your favourite villain?

Sure, why not, I wanted to see Hypno Hustler in the game
I'll be playing Resident Evil now

Didn't Beenox say that there would be many familiar characters in this game when asked about villains once? There's Mary Jane, Doc Ock, Anti-Venom, Black Cat (who's not even the "real" Black Cat) and of course the Spider-Men. Can you really call that many? For ****'s sake Beenox!

Didn't some writer (for some site) tell us after a pretty early preview that he heard the laughter like the one of Hobgoblin 2099 from SD? Maybe he heard wrong then.

So, I said earlier that I wouldn't care THAT much about the number of villains if they fit into the story. But I could never imagine that there would be only 4. I imagined at least 6-7 or something as the lowest number.

So disappointed!

People actually ocomplained about the boss battles in SD? I thought they were quite fun.

Agreed.

I won't be picking this up until it's around 30 regardless... but still..

I have that feeling as well, but it's still a little dissapointing.

If the story to this game is good, then cool! This just came as a bit of surprise to me, that's all.

That's largely what the biggest reviewer criticism was, that as a response to fans, it was mainly just including the characters people wanted at the sacrifice of the story and consistency.

I really enjoyed the game, but it just being a bunch of boss battles was kinda lame.

I was really hoping Beenox would make a Spider-man Noir open world game.

Save a guy from dying to fight his older self in a giant mech is something to complain about, using a guy you fight against is

13 villains is too much, 4 is too little, we'd like to have 7 if possible
But man, you made a good point here, how many villains are there in SM2? 5? That one is one of the best received Spider-Man games, and it's actually good

SD was not the best SPider-Man game, if you ask me either, but it was fun for the most part. I just want to go back to free roaming Spidey. Even if it takes them 2 years to make it, it should happen.

I agree that boss battles isn't everything. Just look at Batman Arkham Asylum. But if you're only going to have 4 villains, then at least let them be classic ones. That's my biggest complaint.

Boss battles are all the same process, boss repeats same 2-3 moves all the times, still can't see what makes one game full of flaws in boss fights
Killer Croc is the best boss fight in Arkham Asylum, Scarecrow second most fun

You could make boss fights creative. The boss fight against Anti-Venom looks really great and epic! It's not the quality in the boss fights themselves that I question. I question the lack of villains and specifically, the lack of classic ones.

But it's 5 classic villains who most of the fans like.
Here, the only amazing ''villain'' we have to fight is Anti-Venom, who is not even a villain.

I never complained about too many villains in SD. I thought that was great, but I certainly complain about the lack of villains in this one. It's not that we're complaining too much, but they should find a middle ground. I'm looking forward to the story, though, even though I spoiled myself with the final villain.

Anti-Venom fight looks about the same as the second fight against Venom from Web of Shadows, and borrowed something from another boss from another game with the thing in the ground coming up

I still think the first Spidey game on the PSX/N64 is the best. I enjoyed the heck out of that game.

^That is exactly what I mean!

4 villains could work great in a game if they had chosen some exciting ones. Anti-Venom is an extremely interesting choice. But Black Cat 2099? And the rest being totally new made up ones? Meh...

Also, I thought the main complaint was how SD felt like it was ALL about random boss battles. That's not the same thing. A great story should be able to involve more classic villains than what we get here.

You have completely missed the point man. The problem with SD was the villains made NO sense to the overall plot of the game. It was just one boss fight after the other. The villains served no purpose within the story, hell, some of them weren't even classic Spidey villains(dont get me wrong, i love Juggernaut, but he was still out of place like the damn rest of em). It was just a hodgepodge of villains so Beenox could say, "Look at all the neat villains we have, dont pay attention to our pathetic story".

Now they come back and tone the villains down but instead of using some of the BEST villains in ANY comic book(Octavious/Osborn etc) they create some crack pot Scientist/CEO. Are you f***ing kidding me? How can you not see the problem there??? The problem was never the amount of villains, it was the fact they didn't do anything to progress the story. There is absolutely NO use defending Activision/Beenox as yet again they miss the mark.

You sure as hell dont see Rocksteady throwing in created villains. They recognize how to tell a great story using the characters they have. I suggest Beenox learn to do the same.
