Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

Marvel Studios itself isn't going and they've been pretty careful to not spoil the things to come for the MCU, specially after Avengers 4.

Sony is going to to make a panel about a movie so important to the future of the MCU, the first from the next phase, alone?

It's strange.

If this is even true, and I have serious doubts, it probably wont amount to much.

I am thinking concept art and casting announcements. I am hoping we get a first look at Mysterio's costume.

It was exciting when we got our first look at Vulture in some concept art at SDCC before.

Yes he did but I guess people want the sharp teeth style with less of a human looking face lizard instead of the more human looking face one. The more human face one is what we got.

No the lizard in the 60s comics looks nothing like that lizard. He had lips, big eyes and a coat and pants. Asm was far from it.

Show me examples of him looking anything like a Goomba in the comics.

This is very puzzling to me. Why are people assuming this is happening just because Michael Mando, who we aren't even sure will be in Far from Home, kinda sorta hinted at It?

Do you think he is going rogue or something? Because if Sony didn't mean for him to say that, he no doubt would have deleted the tweet by now. Companies tend to not like when you do things to get fans hopes up like that.

Plus it is a Sony movie that is currently filming. They're not waiting until after Avengers 4 to start marketing it outright. Details of the movie are going to come out eventually before Avengers 4. It makes sense to give us formal casting announcements and concept art. Footage is unlikely and story details unlikely, but basic confirmation on things like Jake is officially Mysterio and who the guy everyone thinks is Jameson is playing? Yes, this all makes sense.

You're right, and I'm sorry if I came across as condescending. This is Sony's film to market, after all.

It's all good

I just really want to see Mysterio's costume, LOL!

I have doubts that Mando is going or knows something. I mean, why would he? We're not even sure he'll be in this one and I'm doubting he will with Mysterio and possibly Chameleon/Kraven.

I'd love to be wrong and hear something but I don't see it. I would love to see what design they went with for Mysterio and some Gyllenhaal promo art

He may have a small role in it like in Homecoming, though. Possibly even some type of continued tease of his "friends" on the outside and developing the Sinister Six. I mean, we know Keaton is in it, so Mando could have a small role since he is in that same prison.

Speaking of costumes, I hope they make him as frightening as possible. That's what I loved about Vulture's look in Homecoming, he looked more monster than human. I hope they go even crazier with Mysterio. What do you want for his costume?

Don’t really want hydro man if we are doing mysterio and chameleon, but a hydro man set piece in Venice could be very cool.

I am still confused about the Marvel/Sony deal. If the deal ended and did not get renewed... then what?

Does Sony get to keep using Tom Holland's Spider-Man? Or since the character exists in the MCU, would they have to create a brand new version of the character? How does it all work?

We honestly don't really know. All we can do is speculate.

My guess is that if the deal isn't renewed, Sony gets to keep Holland's Spider-Man and new movies are sequels to Homecoming and Far, but new movies can't have any Marvel Studios stuff. New movies wouldn't be canon to MCU, but MCU could choose not to contradict them.

Then Sony will most like screw up again and drive the brand into fatigue leaving marvel to come in for the save again.
Spider-Man is most popular now that he is in the mcu. He is front and center again. They better leave him in if they don’t wanna lose the rights

Kind of sounds like the Marvel Netflix shows. They wouldn't have MCU references in the films, but they do technically exist from that continuity. They sort of "ignore" each other, for the most part.

I think the Sony panel will probably mostly be about Venom tbh but we'll see.

Given it is the next film physically coming out, I agree. But I think we will get some stuff.

Someone will probably ask them about Far from Home, and maybe we'll get some updates, but I won't be surprised if we don't get anything.

I know, if it all just came to a grinding halt after all the character building stuff with him / Tony Stark, and all his involvement in the MCU until now it would feel kind of ..awkward, to say the least. The Sony/Disney deal is unorthodox for sure. And it could all seemingly end at any moment. Unless they finally stump up the cash for Spider-Man, assuming Sony would ever let that go ever again, which they probably wouldn't unless they were going under.
