Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

It's BS, most likely. Happens every time around, someone comes in claiming they have sources and scoops, give vague clues and say things like "I can't say much, but... I know it sounds crazy, and I wouldn't believe this if the shoe was on the other foot, but trust me!".

I highly doubt Marvel are going to stick 6 villains in the film.

I feel like the DailyBugleSpidey guy keeps coming up ever since the first ASM movie with big inside information that's always wrong but people still believe him sometimes.

Well Homecoming technically had four villains, it just took care to establish Vulture as the central threat and the other three as members of his crew. It's fine if they have additional ones for Far from Home, they just have to make sure that one of them, in this case Mysterio, is the central one in terms of development and motivation.

This.

Don’t forget all the speculation during ALL those casting announcements during HOMECOMING — “Donald Glover cast in villainous role”, “Bokeem Woodbine cast in villainous role”, “Michael Chernus cast in villainous role”, “Logan Marshall-Green cast in villainous role”...

Exactly, and Glover really wasn't even playing a villain. For now, we have Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio all but officially confirmed, Michael Keaton definitely returning as Vulture, and Numan Acar possibly maybe playing Chameleon. And even though it's not guaranteed, It's still highly possible that Michael Mando could show up as Scorpion. So that's one (presumably) main villain plus maybe three side villains, depending on whose side Vulture ends up on. As I said, it's not the number of villains that's important, it's the establishing of one as the central antagonist.

That would make the most sense. There have been Jessica Drew rumors forever based on one of the casting sheets.

I wouldn't say Keaton is returning just quite yet. Still consider that a rumor.

I hear you -- these "villainous roles" tend to be just affiliates of the main villain and never an actual villain. And much much smaller roles than most speculate. Heck, people were speculating Logan Marshall-Green to be Kraven 'cause the actor sports that beard in real life lol.

Someone from That Hashtag Show is saying Jess is all but confirmed and cast at this point. But she'll be an MI6 Agent. I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but That Hashtag Show has been pretty on point with their sources apparently.

Variety said he is coming back. That is about as reliable as you can possibly get.

So I saw a "Steven Ogg for J. Jonah Jameson" petition on change.org and I kind of want it to happen now. :)

As well he should. The Vulture/Toomes angle knowing Peter is Spidey is too juicy not to follow up on.

Wonder how old she will be and if they cast PoC actor

Lol imagine thinking that having a POC actress playing Jessica is a bad thing.

I'm still mad at the "she'll have no powers" thing. Why?

As long as they don't cast yet another black woman... when will Hollywood learn that racebending doesn't necessarily mean "making a character black".

I say make Jessica a Latina. Jessica Julia Carpintero Drew.

...

That was racist, wasn't it.

Changing the skin color of a character just feels unnecessary unless they happen to find an actor who gives the best performance for that role that is non-white.

This reminds me of Joss Whedon making a Buffy reboot with a black lead. Is that supposed to get me excited?

Steven Ogg could totally play Jameson.
