Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

It's Sony, they will find a way to screw the marketing up. HC had the worse marketing of all the MCU movies and it was clear Sony was behind it. Compare it with the MCU movies marketing that came out the same year like Ragnarok and you can see the difference. The movie was good though, thanks to Marvel probably.

The mystery isn't whether or not Spider-Man will return, the mystery is how he will return for A4 and HC2.

The trailer should just focus on the story of that film without referencing the events of IW or A4 in the same way that Ant-Man & the Wasp marketing is focusing on its own self-contained story.

Captain Marvel has been filming for months and we still don't know who the villain is.

The major difference Keaton's and Gyllenhaal's castings is what trades were saying. Gyllenhaal was revealed to be in talks for Mysterio from the jump, whereas Keaton wasn't confirmed to be playing Vulture until Feige accidentally let it slip during an interview. Everyone just had a hunch and rumors that that's who he was gonna be playing. And like the above post said, we still don't have any confirmation on who Ben Mendelsohn is playing in CM, though it's heavily rumored to be Yon-Rogg.

Marvel tends to not have pics of the villain released during filming or promote them unless they are major characters or actors.
Never saw

Bruhl as Zemo
Mads in Dr.Strange was shown a bit but we know Dormmamu was the real one
AM&W seems like a movie with 2-3 villains. Ghost is one but they have not shown the puppet master yet. I don't think Goggins will be that big of a villain.

I thought the Mendolsohn actor was the villain, I have only watched him in Ready Player One. I thought he was fine in that.

I avoided the marketing after the 1st trailer showed so much.

HC tried to show every fight scene and interaction. That isn't how the MCU markets.

Dr.Strange focused on the weird magic fight through the city and Strange the character.

Civil War was about Team Cap vs Team Stark

GOTG2 showed nothing but jokes/fun in the trailer. They didn't show Ego more than a second in the last trailer.

Ragnarok focused on Thor vs Hulk

Black Panther showed the car chase stuff in every clip I think.

IWs I avoided but they still held so much back. Many things in the trailer were not in the movie.

So this starts filming in 2 weeks and no casting or villain official announcements?

Probably isn't really much notable casting to do outside JakeG, as most of the cast from the first film will return.

There are 3 new High-school characters being cast as well as an A-list male actor (ala Keaton, Gyllenhaal)

Filming starts in London soon. Zendaya's mum confirmed that she's heading there soon. Seems like a field trip of sorts or a study abroad because his classmates seem to be on the trip too. Tom is heading to Seattle for Ace Comic Con soon and will probably head to London at the end of June.

I guess this shoots down the plot leak where Peter goes to London to retrieve Stark Tech because there'd be no reason for MJ if he was doing that. And, if it was a "Oh, we're taking a field trip there and I need to get tech from Mysterio, wow what a subtle coinky dink." it'd be a cheap repetition of the previous movie.

I'm slowly getting the feeling we aren't getting an additional villain. Mysterio and Vulture are already gonna be in this, and Sony/Marvel might not feel the need to add any more villains. We'll see tho.

Tom Holland just revealed the title of the sequel on his Instagram:

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME

I like it nice continuation of Homecoming to far from home, the play on words continues

Its not bad. But I never really had a strong opinion on what the subtitle should be regardless.

I like it. Same font. I guess the 3rd will follow the patern....

I love the title! Hopefully it’s legit, this does feel staged though. Either that or Tom dropped the ball haha!

Interesting title definitely a reference to when some of it will take place. It's like a comic book title.

I dig it. A little long for my liking, but it keeps the "Home" motif which I'm guessing will really differentiate this series.
