Far From Home Spider-Man: Far From Home General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Nope just shows the the comics and mcu are two different things.

At what point did anyone say they aren’t “two different things”? That’s pretty much what certain people are upset about. He at times feels too different.

The specific issue was a mistake on their part. In an interview about the “Afraid of heights” situation and being comfortable swinging and so on the directors mentioned that heights and being comfortable doing everything Spider-man does is something that had never been touched on before. That it hadn’t been explored before...

That’s obviously a mistake on their part because it has been touched on before and established in the comics that the bite essentially gave him the balance and coordination to be comfortable on all those situations. Hence why it was never a problem jumping off of skyscrapers and what not. So obviously it has been “touched on” and they just hadn’t done their research on the character.

I understand trying to humanize the character and portray him as a hero in training. I get that. However intentionally getting his abilities wrong and showing you don’t have an understanding of his powers isn’t the way to go about it.

I think it is going to be a great film. I look forward to it.
It comes out two weeks before my birthday, I will probably see it then.

Interesting I wonder if that means we where get a tease of who the next big bad guy is after Thanos.

This movie looks like it will be even worse than Homecoming. None of the trailers gave me any idea of what are the emotional stakes of this movie. And from the recent John Watts comments about what Peter's arc will be, I think that guy has no idea of who is Spider-Man. He pretty much said that this movie is about Peter continue being a teenager and not maturing. I'm like, "Wow! This guy understands Spider-Man about as well as Shane Black understands how autism works."

I think its meant to be more about the fun then it is about the stakes.

Eh the first trailer was cool but looked pretty much like the first movie. Unless the whole first trailer was a fake out I highly doubt it’s going to be much different from what we’ve seen.

Plus I read a pretty convincing plot leak a few weeks back and the story beats sound predictable.

I think Daniel is talking about the movie introducing the MCU multiverse. That seems to be what MCU Cosmic is hinting at.
The Consequences of Endgame Will Open Up the MCU to a Mind-Blowing Future

You say they are two separate things yet complain they got his powers wrong? His mcu powers are just slightly different to his powers in the comics.

Plus, most of the relative difference has nothing to do with Peter's powers, and everything to do with a bunch of people having been buffed in the MCU. Which is to say, Cap and BP not being only peak human, is not a nerf to Spider-man.

And he is meant to be a kid learning the ropes of being a superhero. The mcu are looking at the long haul. Hopefully sony agree an extension to the deal. Spidey will get better and better and i wouldn't be surprised in a few more movies he eventually becomes leader of the avengers.

I understand him learning the ropes. You can learn the ropes without appearing completely useless which goes against how he was portrayed in civil war. It doesn’t make sense at all. In that airplane battle he was actually effective and he was utilized better and more faithful in the 10 mins then the entire homecoming.

I actually like Homecoming. However, I honestly can’t see how anyone could be ok with his portrayal during any action scene in that movie, especially after seeing him hold his own against the Avengers a few months earlier. Just way too inconsistent.

The other characters being “buffed” doesn’t really have anything to do with Spider-Man appearing useless in his own film.

I actually agree with this. It feels like Homecoming retroactively makes him less capable than he was in Civil War just for comic relief purposes. In Civil War he at least holds his own against Captain America (who really he should probably be able to handle) and comes up with how to take down Giant-Man. And in Infinity War he takes out Ebony Maw and almost gets Thanos’ gauntlet off. But in Homecoming he can barely hold his own against a trumped-up scrap scavenger who stumbled across some alien tech. Not knocking Vulture, he’s cool and all, but he’s hardly as capable or as powerful as the people Peter does better against in Civil War and Infinity War.

In fact, Peter never even beats Vulture. Vulture inadvertently beats himself. After stomping on Peter for a few minutes.

Do we know what day trailer is coming this week?

Anyone notice this on the FFH page on AMC?

So apparently Jake Gyllenhaal just confirmed a 9:00 EST trailer drop this morning.

Can't wait for the trailer and hopefully more footage of Hydroman and Moltenman!
