The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Gets a Set of Parents and Another Villain

Thats the way I like Goblin. The mask and suit is just too 60's (yes, I went there) A mix is my personal liking.
I disagree completely. I think USM's goblin route ruined the character of the green goblin, IMO. The mask + the suit taking over Norman was muc hcreepier, and showed the 2 sides of Norman even more, if you ask me.

So this villian is made up for the movie? I haven't read any recent Spider-Man comics for a few years now and have no idea if he's a recent villian in the comics or not.

I just think it's fairly lame to make up a villain for a comic film when most superheroes have a large number of villians to pick from.

Any of you actually like this idea?

If they can pull off a classic GG suit, it'd be epic. He can be scary as hell.

I'm not saying he has to look ANYTHING like USM Goblin. All I'm saying is he gains super-human strength, and the goblin face from a transformation. He could look exactly like classic Goblin. I just think the mask is waaaay too corny.

Supposedly he's Van Adder, a Goblin-prototype.

I can't imagine they would hire an actor from the 2008 Best Picture winner unless the role was significant. Certainly bigger than Joe Chill from Begins

Agreed.

I think its a safe bet to assume they will go the transformation route - if anything, just to avoid comparisons to Raimi's film.

So science experiment gone wrong is totally new?

i think its funny how just about everybody including myself has no idea wtf van atter is

I LOVE the idea of a Proto-goblin villain leading into the Green Goblin. I'm getting a very 'Batman Beginnish' feel from the film...'lesser' villains to lead into the Big Guns.
Agreed so much. I am actually interested by the idea of Proto-Goblin. It would definitely foreshadow Norman becoming the Green Goblin.

They better go the transformation route because that wasn't green goblin in raimi's films...

Seeing that stupid power rangers goblin just put a bad taste in my mouth , i couldn't get into the movie the way i wanted to...

This film is showing far more promise than any of Raimi's ever did. It seems to be ''getting" the franchise more than he did.

Never heard of Van Adder I think, but would like to see Peter's parents protrayed in the movie

I'm thinking its just a name to throw us off.... I bet he will end up Being Kraven... I'm calling it now... he is kraven.

But isn't the actor they cast of indian nationality?

Yea, I'm also digging the fact that Pete's parents have a subplot in the film. It can bring a great story, and a lot of heart.

As for the villain, nice touch. Adding a completely unknown villain as cannon fodder to Spidey while building towards....
I agree with that statement minus the Goblin part(because we don't know if it's building towards that).

However guys, this news leaves me to consider the possibility that Ifan may actually be playing Miles Warren/Jackel.... he certainly look more like Miles than Connors.

Just saying...... we all been saying Lizard is too soon for a reboot, and would be rushed trying to develop the character, with his family, the experiment, transformation, and Lizard himself.

Think about it.

We knew Peter's parents would be playing a role in the film, and I think it could be something interesting to delve into. But this Van Adder stuff is very interesting...

I was familiar with Proto-Goblin before, but I didn't know his real name. It would be very intriguing if they wanted to do something with a character *that* obscure.

I agree with you on this. the connors / peter parker story needs about 2 movies to be fleshed out right. or even 3
I would like for lizard to be held off in the 1st one but if he's in it i wouldn't be too mad
