One thing I love about this trailer is that it looks like a regular Spider-Man story. It's not trying to be the end all be all. It looks the smallest scaled since the original film which is a great thing. It helps the idea that Peter is just this kid who's getting in way over his head and he's in this single part of the world within a larger universe, but never feeling like it's trying to be more.

The stakes seem clear. Vulture is this intimidating and menacing adult who can easily get to Peter and those closest to him. It's a big part of what Spider-Man has always been about.
Agreed. I think the scope will get bigger with each film which is a natural progression in the MCU. I could see the third Spider-Man film featuring the Sinister Six for example.

Such a cooool avvy, BP. Gonna make one (if I can remember) when I get off work tonight.

Liz/Flash, Betty/Ned and Peter/Michelle/MJ/Mary Jane/Possibly Someone, Maybe

Somehow, if Zendaya isn't MJ I think that they'll break up before college (maybe the double life is too much for the relationship or something). And then we may get MJ/Gwen/Felicia with an adult Peter.

Lol I actually have a friend who was a fan of the brief Peter/Carol pairing in the comics who wants to see Peter hook up with Captain Marvel near the end of Phase 4 or the beginning of Phase 5 :funny:. His rational is that by then Peter would be in his early/mid twenties, while Carol would be in her thirties so the relationship would work.

That'd be one heck of a curve ball lmao

what??

edit: saw the pics.

sigh.......guess they are going for the ugly duckling transformation. still looks nothing like MJ though.

and she doesn't even look all that much different. same basic hairdo and everything. same dour expression. just a fancier dress.

I agree with you she doesn't look different she is wearing a dress cos she's at a dance, so why do you think they're going for a 'ugly duckling transformation'

no. Liz will die because the actress is "too old." her character must be written off somehow to preserve the youthfulness of the rest of the cast.

She is much older than the rest of them and I think as a result, she'll be used as the unobtainable 'trophy' girl that every guy wants to have to say they took the Liz Allan to the dance.

She graduates and Flash is left alone. :woot:

Ultimate Kate and Miles then, kinda-sorta. Without the whole, "Btw I'm evil" reveal.

yeah, I don't see that either. People dress up to go to a dance. That's pretty normal.

The earliest Spider-Man Comic I remember reading was Amazing Spider-Man number 6 with the first Lizard lol My neighbors had it, my parents at the time were okay with me getting Richie Rich, Casper, Disney but not superheroes lol

I started reading Spider-Man comics with Amazing Spider-Man 398. I think in my first comic book MJ told Peter that she is pregnant (didn't turned out so well for them...) and Doc Octopus is the villain of the book beautifully drawn by Mark Bagley. I think nobody draws Spider-Man so fantastic like Bagley has in the 1990s.

I'm happy that Spider-Man goes on but this current version is really not the version I remember and I think Peter Parker really has outgrown his teenager years A VERY LONG TIME AGO. Everyone who is not born before the 1990s will not remember this version of Spider-Man...

I think they really should have used Miles Morales instead for the Marvel cinematic universe. Miles would have fit this setting perfectly and they obviously take a lot from Bendis Mile Morales comicbooks to make Spider-Man look more "current".

Thanks guys for posting a leaked pic of Zendaya's character without spoiler tags.

"Without"? Lol they already got Ganke, they may as well throw in Kate :o

(BTW it's a joke in case someone comes at me with the whole "hurr during you haven't seen the movie stop jumping to conclusions" spiel)

That'd be something. :funny:

:funny: definitely, imagine pairing up their most iconic character with MCU's answer to Wonder Woman; ultimate CBU power couple right there :lmao:

Brief pairing? It was only one single failed date.

And your friend is the worst. :o No, MJ is the girl Peter is supposed to end up with, and I accept no substitutes.

Gwen with Betty's name. Their way of keeping the character around I guess?

Wait I missed this picture. Not sure why they felt the need to censor Liz, Michelle and Ned's boobs but ok. :o

Is the blonde girl supposed to be Sally Avril? She kinda looks like her. I doubt she's Gwen.

Isn't the blonde girl Betty Brant?

Why would they make Betty a schoolmate of Peter when they could just use Sally? Then again, look at what they did with Ned.

EDIT: Just checked IMDB and yeah, the blonde girl really is Betty Brant. I don't know what to say, it seems such a pointless change.

They already cast Sally & this is what she look like this in the movie

IMDB isn't always reliable, but we'll see.

I thought I heard a rumored description of her character and she sounded a lot like Sally.

Eh those Zendaya images aren't indicative of anything, she has the purple hair streak in the school scenes too

I hope Rice is Gwen, she looks just like her.

Just wondering, what if Zendaya plays Felicia "MEOW" Hardy and it is revealed that she is the Vultures' daughter? Wasn't some kind of plot like this planned for Spider-Man 4 (and Felicia was also introduced already in Amazing Spider-Man 2)? Maybe they recycle this old idea for Spider-Man: Homecoming? Black Cat also has a relationship to Tinkerer if I remember it right and her father was a criminal. They could easily combine Tinkerer with Felicia's father from the comic books and make her the new Black Cat in the sequel.

I doubt that's the case.

I doubt that's the case.

I feel like they need to make Spider-Man's connection to Vulture and the Tinkerer personal to set the stage for an emotional third act and Felicia Hardy could be this emotional link between Spider-Man and his villains. So far this movie has no emotional stakes for Peter.

Seeing Felicia turning into Black Cat to free her father from prison in the sequel could be great.

They don't need to force a personal connection between Spider-Man and Vulture.
