The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man in the Avengers?

As I've said before, I wouldn't mind a mention/cameo from either Peter/Spidey... but that's about it. Just to acknowledge that they're all in the same universe. Which they probably are.

I don't want to see any team up movies... hell, it's why I'm on the fence about the Ultimate Spidey cartoon.

Something that I thought of that'd be pretty cool, during a scene where Spidey's swinging, Stark Tower could be in the background. It wouldn't be in your face obvious...

This is for a sequel, of course... assuming that Spidey doesn't pop up in the Avengers.

Eh, team ups in the cartoon will probably be fun.

Not really looking forward to it. I know that they became common in the later USM comics, but I really was hoping that they'd keep it a strictly Spidey cartoon, with the odd team up here and there...

I prefer my Spidey to be solo but if they keep the team ups strictly for the cartoon and out of the movies...I'll be happy.

It happened in the comics. You forget that Spidey also wanted to be part of the F4 early on.

I know both of those things. Spider-Man has wanted to be on teams, but no one would have him. Spider-Man is just some joe in a costume to the Marvel Universe. He's only famous to us, the readers.
This leads me to what I think was a big difference between DC and Marvel. DC's characters' in-universe popularity often paralleled their metafictional iconicity. Superman and Batman and their fellow Justice League members were legends in and outside of the DC universe.
This didn't apply to Marvel, until fairly recently. Their most popular individual characters, Spider-Man and Wolverine, weren't that popular in the Marvel universe. I mean, I don't recall many teams asking Spider-Man to join their ranks.

The F4 said no to him because he was hoping to make money. The X-Men didn't want him because he was not a mutant...Wolverine hated him for that. But...he did join the Avengers.

Joining the Avengers wasn't until rather recently in the scope of Spider-Man's 50 year history. And I don't think it really suits Spidey as a character. It was interesting at first when Spider-Man was married to Mary Jane and they moved into the Avengers Mansion, but I don't think it works anymore since Peter's identity is completely secret now.

A lot of stuff they are doing here wasn't written until recently...like spy parents or Oscorp scientist Peter and Mary.

But that doesn't mean they won't do it. I hate the story line of the Lizard transforming other New Yorkers into lizards and they are doing it here. I will give it a shot...it may work out, who knows. Spider-Man sooner or later needs to be bigger than just Queens or Manhattan. Plus, him being in the Avengers will have little to do with his solo movies so if you don't like Spidey in the Avengers then don't watch Avengers. RDJ won't be here after IM3 and he may return for A2 but after that....Marvel will be looking to have a big name in the team once Iron Man is out or reduced.

No he doesn't. Batman never left Gotham (well only for a couple of days to HK to retrieve that one dude) and he did just fine. Spider-man is one of the few heroes that doesn't need anyone else to remain interesting.

The Amazing Spider-Man Facebook group just liked The Avengers Facebook group.

TIS A SIGN.

I completely agree.

What does this have anything to do with Nolan's Batman series? And yeah well the first part of Batman Begins was in another country. Batman goes to Hong Kong and would have done more had the river through Hong Kong not been a disease froth. Lastly, it looks like some of the new movie takes place outside of Gotham.

Also...I never said Spider-Man had to leave NYC. I said he needs to be bigger than Manhattan or Brooklyn...as in fighting something bigger than a threat to just the people of NYC. You wanted to reference Batman, well Ra's and the League was a threat to the entire world. The only way Lizard would be a threat to the entire world is if he wants to turn the entire Earth into Lizard people. That would be gross.

Sooner or later it's going to get old by making a Spider-Man movie with the following formula:
1) Have villain be connected to Peter
2) Have villain be a science experiment gone wrong
3) Have villain's story be wrapped up in one film

Spider-Man has left NYC numerous times.

Not every villain needs to be a global threat. In fact, a lot of Spider-Man's villains are that way.

Who said every villain being a global threat? Do some of you have an ap that spins words? Seriously....

Not every villain needs to be a local threat...it will get old sooner or later. It won't hurt one bit to have Spidey be part of the Avengers for 1 or 2 movies.

Now let me try that spin ap: You don't want to see as much of Spider-Man as you can? You don't want Spider-Man to be in more movies if he could be?

If Marvel/Disney gets the rights to Spider-Man, which is certainly possible given the dire financial situation at Sony, then he will be in The Avengers.

It doesn't matter if it won't make sense or if Spidey is better alone. That's a different argument. Marvel won't care about any of that. What they will care about is that Spider-Man is the biggest hero they have and him in an Avengers movie would put people in the seats.

If they could somehow get the rights to Wolverine, he'd be in the Avengers too.

Spider-Man doesn't need bigger threats. We've barely had any villains who were threats to New York City as it is. It's far too soon to talk about that formula getting old at this point.

Probably. This is where I think DC would have an advantage with a Justice League film. They don't have to worry about whether or not Batman and Superman belong in the Justice League, because they have been JL regulars for years, going back to that team's inception.

This does make me wonder what prevented Marvel from putting Spider-Man and Wolverine in the Avengers earlier.

4 movies? 6 if they do two sequels. Yet it's totally crazy talk for them to have Spidey do something different in an Avengers movie:dry:

Barely any of the villains in the Spider-Man movies to date were threats to New York City.
