The character models look cheap here as well.

I would never say cheap.

The facial animation is bit stiff in some aspects, but the models are crisp af. Super detailed and refined. Aunt May almost looks real when the video is paused.

Peter's face has a different vibe to his usual appearance, but that's not necessarily a critic. I dig that they're focusing on a large cast of characters. Aunt May's look is a bit weirder, it didn't feel like aunt May

I'm still skeptical on the web zip animations. I can't get past how fake they look. And sure it's convenient, but I'd rather have gameplay where I have to think cleverly and be in a good groove to move well instead of having a "press button to fly over here move". Not very rewarding

that shouldnt be a plausible excuse in 2017 when we've seen open world games with great facial visuals

Looks great. The character models are stiff but they could still be a work in progress. I remember bashing injustice 2’s early character models in trailers only to find out they weren’t even close to finished.

Latest look at the Insomniac-developed Spider-Man game.

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac Games debuted a new trailer for Spider-Man during the PlayStation Media Showcase at Paris Games Week 2017.


Here’s Insomniac Games creative director Bryan Intihar on the trailer:

My name is Bryan Intihar and I’m the Creative Director for Insomniac Games working on Marvel’s Spider-Man. This past summer was a very exciting time for our studio as E3 and D23 served as great avenues to showcase the unique Spider-Man game universe we’re building. Since then we know you’ve been anxiously awaiting another look at the Web-Slinger, which is why we were thrilled to unveil a new trailer at the PlayStation Media Showcase at Paris Games Week. The trailer includes your first glimpses at the man behind the mask – Peter Parker. We also introduce you to Peter’s very close friend Mary Jane Watson, his beloved Aunt May, his longtime nemesis Wilson Fisk (AKA Kingpin), and much more.


As Spider-Man asks at the trailer’s conclusion, “anyone else need a breather?” Well, don’t take a break for too long because there’s a lot to go through here!


First off, our 23-year-old Peter finds himself trying to juggle his career and personal life with being a Super Hero. And while he’s more experienced and masterful at fighting crime (including finally taking down the Kingpin), can Peter finally find balance? Or will Spider-Man’s responsibility to protect the city take priority if Kingpin really was the “one who kept order in this city”?
In the past, we’ve talked a lot about how the best Spider-Man stories happen when Spider-Man and Peter Parker’s worlds collide.


So to understand Peter’s world a bit, players will also play as Peter during parts of the game. Not only that, Mary Jane has a significant role here too. MJ is a smart, savvy reporter with The Daily Bugle and she’s investigating the suspicious activity happening throughout the city. She won’t be just a bystander either, so yes, players will even play as MJ for key moments.
MJ, however, isn’t the only intersection between Peter and Spider-Man’s worlds. His own Aunt May is a longtime employee of philanthropist Martin Li at his F.E.A.S.T. shelters. Peter even introduces a young Miles Morales to his aunt as a new shelter volunteer. Unfortunately, Peter makes the terrible discovery that May’s employer is secretly Mister Negative (you can see that moment in our E3 2017 Gameplay Demo). Mister Negative and his Inner Demons’ reign of terror on New York City pose the most serious—and personal—threat that our Spider-Man has faced in his eight years of web-swinging and crime fighting.

Wonder with PlayStation experience being so close to this if we are going to get more there to or if what we got today may be the last we get for a little while. With it still just saying 2018 I think it is going to be a late 2018 but hope I am wrong. Cant weight for this and nice to get a real first teaser of the games story this time and the action again looks amazing.

That new trailer's really got me jazzed, guys! Looks like it has all the ingredients I want out of a Spider-Man experience and then some. It made me really happy when I saw Peter and MJ together talking about Spider-Man stuff, it just feels so right to see them together in something again (and something pretty big, too). I'm intrigued about what kind of roles all the supporting characters play here as well. Love the attention to detail on everything, looks thorough and not phoned-in in the slightest. (I'm gonna be the same age as Peter is in this game when it comes out next year, so that's something weird but also neat)

For the Bugle, too. I wonder if that's Peter's in to getting photographs of Spidey in the paper...OR...Maybe in this world MJ is the Spidey photographer and Peter just models for her. Would be an interesting team dynamic if she takes the photo, he poses for them, they split the cash.

I'm very iffy on it. It seems too much like Lois Lane. Ultimate Spider-Man did that too, and she didn't really feel like MJ at all. Just an OC with MJ's name and appearance.

which is fine since they've made it more than clear that this is their own original take on the Spiderman mythos

they took a cue fromthe ultimate spider man animated series that just ended last year. that was what she was studing to be while peater was in shield acadmed and stared h that version of the new warriors under shield.
