Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 2

Man, Sunset Overdrive is quickly becoming one of my favourite games! I played almost all the Ratchet games last year and it became one of my favourite series. It's safe to say I'm gonna love Spider-Man lol.
This will be my very first game from these developers. I will never own an XBox, so no chance for me playing Sunset Overdrive.

I hated it on the PS2. The skies were so depressing to look at... Not mention everything else compared to SM2 :csad:
I know, beside being the blandest looking city I found the environmental visuals and color grading to be unpleasant.

That's an ugly game.
Yeah it's really ugly. I had to buy the PS2 version when Spider-Man 3 came out because I didn't have any of the next-gen consoles. I was very disappointed. It looked worse than Spider-Man 2 and the web-swinging felt worse too. Then I found out that the PSP version is exactly the same. They basically had to make a game that worked on PSP too.

I actually preferred the PS2 version. The symbiote felt like an actual separate entity, instead of an alternate skin. It made us viciously stronger and we had to remove it under the risk of dying. There was a payoff for the power acquired, like it's supposed to be.
No such thing in the PS3 version.

You should've see how I beat the first boss first time I played New Game+, an experience I never tried to replicate, but will always remember with fondness.

Now what is the best joke for me to make on my favorite Spider-Man game? There are plenty to be made for sure.
Oh, this is a good one: I use a trainer for a thrill ride and take a dive with MJ on my back. Who thought of giving those missions a countdown timer?

The original PS1 Spider-man games were awesome, there were two of them released back in the day.

I wanted to see Thor in the sequel, they did not change that part of the closing cinematic.

Did we play different games then? I 100%ed the PS2 version and there was no tradeoff whatsoever. All you had to do was spam square or another button to remove it, no risk of dying.

You could've used the symbiote 247 with no downsides to it.

The black screen of 'restart mission' if you don't remove it.

So they started testing the game both in studio and with QA testers on January 2th. Does anyone know how long does this part of development last?

Depends entirely on the game.

It's pretty much testing/polishing so it ends when they feel the game is finished...which will depend on how polished the game was during main development and how big it is--two things we have no idea on. They have said that it's their largest game ever, so chances are it'll take a while.

I'm still betting on a Fall release.

Well, they said early 2018... Will that be upheld? Probably not.

I still think this will be their game to launch the summer, although that can easily be Days Gone.

I am still thinking the game will not come out in till like October/November but I sure hope I am wrong.

Well, they said early 2018... Will that be upheld? Probably not.

The ONLY time that was said was Shawn Layden at E3 last year. And he was talking about everything. It was a very general statement and it's entirely possible he was being a hype man/ he forgot about a couple games. Had Insomniac said that, I would hold them to it. But it was ONLY Shawn, ONLY once, and Insomniac hasn't commented on it at all. If it was even somewhat true, they would've said something.

On the PSN store, they have a handful of upcoming games for preorder that come out this year. God of War is there and it's release date STILL says 12.31.2018, even on the PSN Store. And that game has somewhat of a release date for "Early 2018". Spider-man isn't anywhere on the store still.

It's almost definitely not coming till the Summer at the earliest.

Yeah the games with 2018 release window at E3 were GoW and SotC early 2018,Detroit and Spider-Man 2018. So Layden talked about those being first half of the year. Days Gone didn't have a release window at E3.

Maybe they will try to capitalize on Infinity War home release.

You pretty much do testing throughout the development cycle. Them testing the game has no real meaning in terms of how far along the game is.

Not sure if this means anything, but the game is available for order on Amazon, but the shipping date is listed as 12/31/18.

Yeah it's just a placeholder until they get the real date

That's pretty neat! Wonder if there'll be any other toys released, I'd be excited about a nice 6" figure with that suit.

Update-ish on release date....

Spider-Man is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2018, it's developed by industry veterans Insomniac Games and is a major exclusive for PlayStation 4. Sony has yet to announce an official release date but the game was expected to launch Q1/Q2 2018, but, according to a Swedish retailer, fans may have to wait just a bit longer.

The retailer, Coolshop, has listed the game for with a release date of September 28th, 2018. At first glance, this could simply be a placeholder date, but in most cases, placeholders are either the last day of the season or the last day of the year. It's also worth noting that this date falls on a Friday which is a typical day in the U.S for new games to hit the shelves.

God of War has a release date of April 20th, 2018. With this in mind, it is possible that Sony has saved Spider-Man for an Autumn release date, they wouldn't want their babies fighting after all and there is still no word about a release date for Days Gone. Sony has a lot of exclusives lined up for 2018 so it would make perfect sense to space the release of these titles out accordingly so that they don't cut into each other's sales.
