The Iron Spider suit from Infinity War will be available.

Wow, neat. Bet something with the mechanical arms will be the suit's special feature. I figured we'd be getting some movie suits, really hoping to see the Raimi suit.

And Spidey can pull up (climb the webline) during a swing, much like Ultimate and Web of Shadows.
:awesome:

I guarantee the arms is it's special ability. I also guarantee at least one Raimi suit is in the game--I'm betting on the red and blue and the symbiote.

It says the last pre order suit is revealed in July. Wonder if that has anything to do with what it is... probably not.

The Infinity War suit is looking dope. Getting all the other movie suits too will be fantastic.

Wish they could've did something fresh instead going over the motions of TASM/Arkham combat system. Tbh, I wish this game looked completely different than what it looks like. No game so far since Spider-Man 2 has did the two hand web swinging. I'm ready for a new swinging system that is more advanced and cinematic than just press and hold button to shoot web, release to let go of web, repeat proccess.

I don't want to dwell on my disappointment too long because I know there are a lot of people in this thread who love what they're seeing (Don't want to be a party pooper) but suffice to say, I'm bored of how derivative the game looks of past games (particularly Beenox TASM series). The car chase looks straight out of TASM1 with the quick time events
I'm in a similar spot. I love the gadgets and I'm sure I'll play around with them a lot, but I'm not feeling the combat.

I don't want to keep comparing to the Arkham games, but that is a perfect exemple of how each move, each punch and kick flow into the next one, how each of them connect with grace. Here, it's like each move starts from zero. Each hit is a new hit instead of being a continuation. It's hard to put it exactly into words.

I'm positive that it plays much better than it looks, though. It should be fun to bounce from one enemy to the other and play around with the environment.

Man, can’t wait for this game. I haven’t played a Spider-Man game since the one that came out for the PS2 back in the early 2000’s. Stoked for the IW costume is in there too.

I know what you mean. It sometimes seems a little stop and go. I think when developing the combat, Insomniac wrote down everything about the Batman combat and tried to do the opposite of each one. (He doesn't counter--he dodges. He doesn't stick to the ground--he fights in the air.)

So to that end, I feel like they tried to avoid a free flowing sort of combat. There is still bouncing from enemy to enemy but I think it's mostly based on how agile Spidey is. A lot of his moves and attacks are mobile and cover some good distance. He has a dodge, and a web zip for moving around quickly and a web strike and a swing kick for attacking on the move. I feel like Spidey's moveset will naturally cause you to move from enemy to enemy without you realizing it. That one clip of him in the classic suit is a good example.

Or I'm wrong. We'll see in September.

Gadgets are a great idea, but the air combat looks pretty ridiculous. Not remotely possible, even for someone with Spider-man's powers.

Just because Spider-man can do complicated acrobatics, doesn't mean he has to do them all the time. A simple punch or kick would be enough to completely wreck the average person.
It also troubles me when I see Spider-man fly at an enemy from 30 feet away, hit them, and they don't even fall over. The force of the attack should increase with how fast Spider-man is moving. If he sends his whole body weight into a regular guy at terminal velocity, they shouldn't be standing.

I felt that way since the 8 minutes gameplay demo days, it's like they want to show he's pulling his punches.

Of course, kicking them up into the air and web striking them does not allow to pull back on attacks.

I don't think wish fulfillment comes with a physics major.

that was also in the arkham game. batman was the size of a tank but he zipping all over the space when in a fight. and it worked(plus batman had spider sense in those games)

spider-man just hanging in the air does look a off but the game informer guys didnt mention it as distracting so let wait till we have in hand

Not in hard mode, nor in New Game+.

In the Arkham games, when Batman attacks regular enemies from a distance, or after a combo, he'd knock them down in one hit.

Compare that to moment 1:18 in this trailer.

i see what you mean sir. i am assuming they are following the comics where spider-man say he holds back when punching because he could tear peoples heads off if he doesnt.

in the game hes been doing 8 years so hes mastered holding back

It'd be nice if we had control over how much Spidey holds back. I think being able to charge your attacks would be a nice feature.

I remember when I first played the Arkham games and the way how Batman was doing combat, I always thought about how it would feel with Spider-Man doing similar moves. Also glad the Iron Spider suit from the movie made into the game.

I wonder when they implemented the eyes, cause that was something we saw in the first teaser in June of 2016, and we first saw MCU Spidey's moving eyes in March of 2016. That's something little I'd like to see somebody ask them one day.

Yes, totally agree with this. They made swinging physics based, but then the have other moves that are the complete opposite. I think it would've been much cooler if all moves were grounded enough that they looked at least believable.

The combat looks too cartoony for these realistic style graphics. I believe Insomniac could've done much more graceful and impactful combat if they had realized this
