Finished the Heist last night. I actually enjoyed it. The reviews weren’t great for it but I thought it felt fresh with the museum battle and some of the newer goons. Only Screwball was a downside as taking a picture while fighting really screwed up the flow.
Over the past couple of days I completed the remaining DLCs, Turf War and Silver Lining.
I’m gonna make this as short as I can. While I really did enjoy the story itself and the character development, the gameplay wasn’t anything the main game didn’t offer. I did enjoy playing thru the DLC and had a good time doing so however I also found there to be some drawbacks.
Felicia Hardy, Yuri, Hammerhead and Silver Sable were the standouts in the DLC. I loved the characterizations, development and interactions with Spidey. Felicia is my fav though. And
her appearance in Silver Lining although short was great—her apology to Spidey for treating him the way she did was excellent.
She’s a villain, yes, but I prefer when Peter challenges her to do good and they work together rather than her trying to fool him constantly.
And while I don’t hate Screwball with the intensity that many others do—I found her voice to be annoying but the challenges themselves were easy and imo the gadget ones were actually pretty fun, on the whole she’s a worthless, throwaway character. And to make that worse the ending of her ‘story’ in this DLC with the chase sequence…well, I eye rolled so hard I think I may have gotten them stuck for a minute or two.
Another MJ stealth mission. Yay! (heavy on the sarcasm).
Miles. What are they doing to Miles? I’m not fond of the character to begin and I did enjoy him within the main game/story but in this DLC, I found him to be quite annoying. He’s a teen. He’s excited about having powers. Yes, I get it, but why do creators/writers often take teens and make them seem insufferable? His OTT antics and hyper-talking were so lame and imo took the character down a notch. What’s worse, I saw Into the Spider-Verse and the Miles in that movie is 110% better than the iteration in this game. And so was MJ, imho.
To sum up: IMO, unless you want some of the suits that come with the DLC, imo the purchase price vs content is NOT worth it. The DLC while fun in certain instances is nowhere near the polish of the main game. IMO, again, unless there’s some suits you want just watch all the cutscenes on youtube to get the story and just wait for the sequel. Overall I give the DLC a 6.5/10
p.s.—the Into the Spider-Verse suit is now my personal favorite. It looks dope as hell. And yes, I DO pretend it is the SSM suit while I’m playing Sorry, not sorry.

Miles showed so much promise in the main game and I was looking forward to what they'd do with him in the sequel, but after the DLC I couldn't care less. I haven't watched into the Spider-verse yet, but I assume Miles in that Movie isn't an annoying fanboy, who constantly pesters Peter about teaching him, because he wants to do cool superhero stuff. It's like they completely ignored the tragedy he went through in the main game. So instead of wanting to legit learn how to be a proper superhero in order to help people in need, he just comes across as a fanboy who wants to play superhero.

Yep. You said it better than I did. Miles in the DLC went several steps backward...it's like you said, the writers forgot about all he went thru in the main story. Sucks.
Also, you need to see Into the Spider-Verse asap. Imo it's the best Spidey film to date--no hyperbole. I'll just say this...I'm not a fan of Miles. I couldn't care less about him...he's an alternative spider-person and so in all honesty I'm just not interested. But this movie changed that. It was so good it took a character I don't care about and made him important. Plus from what I've heard the movie version of Miles is better than his comic book counterpart. I can't confirm cause I've not read any of his stuff but I think that says a lot if it's true. I certainly liked him in the movie. And imo it's got the best film version of Peter as well...both of them.
Speaking of Spider-Verse, I was all well and good with the Raimi suit ready to play the main story, then they had to reveal the Spider-verse costume. Went straight into Silver Lining DLC and played that so I could unlock it.
Let me tell you, playing Silver Lining with my character who wasn't leveled up made the entire thing a pain in the a**. But it was worth it. Ready to play the main story now unless Insomniac hates me and reveals an unlockable ASM 2 costume.

I have to say, I turned my little boy loose on it. He's seven. He usually doesn't fare well with more complex games like this...then I let him go into combat against a group of thugs. Wow. He whooped them up good.
I'm...so proud.
I've been playing this game while using spotify to listen to both the orchestral score and the soundtrack for Into the Spider-Verse and I love it. And tbh it makes me play better too.
That now needs to be a costume for the sequel. And I want the giant robot as well. Maybe as a suit power a giant robot foot could appear out of the sky, crushing all the enemies.
Would you guys like that the advanced suit stays as the main suit, or should they create a new variation of the classic? It would be cool to see the first trailer sporting a new rad suit
I wouldn't mind if it stays as the main suit. But if they are doing what I think they'll be doing, the suit will probably get destroyed in the sequel. So maybe they'll come up with a new one or have him return to his classic outfit toward the end of the game.
The advanced suit grew on me so I wouldn't mind that being the main one for the sequel. But based on where the story might be headed I have a feeling we'll end up in either the Superior suit or the Symbiote suit.
I think they'll keep the advantanced suit for a time especially while he has the symbiote because that suit easily lends itself to be black with the double white spiders on it. Then say he tears it off and destroys it in the process, and then we get a new suit.
They can do something like what was done in the Spectacular show, where the white spider slowly changes and turns into the classic white spider we know from the comics.
Oh I hope they take that idea. That was one of my favorite aspects of the symbiote adaption in Spectacular Spider-Man. Such a minor detail that actually provides a lot of interesting character detail.

I never liked the advanced suit, but it wouldn't bother me if they keep it for the sequel. The anti-ock suit would be better if it didn't have yellow lights all over the arms and legs. I don't like any of Insomniac's original suits, but their renditions of classic suits are fantastic. Especially Scarlet, Iron Spider and Mk 1.
Okay, finally finished the story mode on the game on New Year's Eve. I've unlocked almost everything except the hidden Landmark tokens. Working on those and getting the Taskmaster challenges at Ultimate level. as well as the base challenges.
Man, this game was FUN! I know a lot of people compared it to Arkham, and rightfully so, but I like the way they bad guys are amped up. Batman would last an hour in this New York. Everyone is armed to the teeth, and they don't slowly chamber rounds three and four times before shooting you one round at a time. These guys play for keeps! Also, the story...wow. A heartbreaker to be sure, but well done. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the "MJ sneaking" missions. The last few were okay because you FINALLY get a weapon and you can call in Spider-Man in one. Aside from that, my son and I did a collective eyeroll when we saw it was an MJ mission. Miles, too. Still, it was a momentary qualm, and I get why they did it. Webslinging to some getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, I was golden. The suits look great. I know there is a reason why there was no classic black suit, but it's omission hurt my feelings...I mean, I'm not going to scream at Insomniac until they give into my childish demands or anything (ahem), but it would be nice. I think I played as Classic, Homecoming, Advanced, Iron Spider, and Spidey 2099 the most. Also, the classic 2-D comic suit looked awesome. Well, to me, it did.
My son likes the Advance, Anti-Ock, Spidey 2099, and the Dark Suit....as well as Scarlet Spider.
Now...onto the DLC, which I bought this past weekend because I'm a freakin' adult, and I'll buy what I want, thank you very much!!!!
Finished the Hammerhead Turf War DLC. I actually think I liked the Heist one better. Turf War felt repetitive after a while. And others have said, the Screwball challenges are annoying, especially when the photobomb screws up your hit combo.
A lot of the problems I felt in the main game were ramped up in the DLC. I had so many camera and targeting issues during the fights that I wondered if they even playtested this thing. It also felt like they significantly increased the difficulty, but that might because I hadn't played since I finished the main game.
Overall, the DLC story was pretty weak IMO. I liked the first installment a lot, but the second two? Ehhh.
They boiled down to
Hammerhead wanting to be a giant robot, for some reason? Okayyyyy. And Yuri's violent turn came completely out of nowhere. It was so rushed and made no sense.

The difficulty has definitely been ramped up. After finishing the DLCs and getting all the suits, I started my New Game+ run on the Ultimate difficulty. I am at the part where I fought and captured Mr. Negative. I think so far I've died twice. The enemies do major damage, but they are nowhere near a pain in the ass, as the enemies in the DLCs. And I played those only on the Amazing difficulty.

I wouldn't mind if it gets destroyed, but then he rebuilds it with some tweaks. Maybe make the Spider black again, so the suit looks a bit like Ben Reilly's costume. Or like the Homecoming concept art.
With Venom having the big white Spider on his chest, I'd like Spidey go back to the classic black Spider.
