Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

I played about five more hours tonight and finished Act 1. Also got all of the landmark and backpack collectables. Played mostly using the two Homecoming suits, which look gorgeous. Not much of a fan of the Iron Spider (though it's ability is good).

Combat is my biggest weakness, granted I'm getting better at it now that I've unlocked some handy moves and gadgets. A small critique I have of it is I wish we could change the color of the spider-sense. White can be hard to notice, though it may just be me.

As a person who isn't very familiar with Miles Morales character, I'm digging his character in this so far and am enjoying where the story is going.

The thing with relying on different view is you might come to a different conclusion after playing a while longer than Mandon did.

Games aren't cheap where I am so it's rare I'll make a new purchase in the first few months. This is going for $99.95 AUD down here, which is about $71 USD.

It's stupid crazy how good this looks and plays, just as good as Uncharted, Ratchet, Horizon, God of War etc., even though I still mostly suck in combat lol.

What exactly do you mean? I'll try to answer.

It's a AAA game that does Spider-Man justice in both character, story (thus far), and overall game mechanics much the same that Arkham did for Bats.

I'm only about 10 hours of play time at this point but it's extremely satisfying. The combat mirrors Arkham to an extent however it's quite different. It has the same challenging aspect to it that feels incredibly rewarding when you pull off the kind of moves the game is capable of doing.

I like the Arkham games a lot, except Knight which was kinda boring, and this one was on my radar because of the similarities I could see in the trailers and early gameplay footage. On top of that Spidey is my favourite Marvel character, so thanks for the feedback. Makes me wonder how many other superhero games could be done this way if the formula works across two different characters.

Daredevil would work with this formula for sure. In fact I struggle to see a superhero who couldn't work with the Arkham formula.

I think the mentor is very likable and I feel bad for them, too.

I want a new Hulk game that is up there with Ultimate Destruction and I want a Daredevil game.

You're not wrong to want those things. But honestly, the character that REALLY needs a new AAA game, is the Punisher.

I hope that the game is very successful and inspires a sequel. Hopefully by next year some more mini-game add ons can be created. A full new game probably won't happen until... when?

Usually max game development time, 3-4 years.

The sequel will probably be a PS5 title. I hope the DLC Episodes will be decent. If they are actually good, I wouldn't mind if they keep adding more DLC Episodes, since we'll have to wait a while for the sequel.

Ah you gotta be kidding! Just went on YouTube to watch that launch promo they released yesterday again and one of the related videos was "SPIDER-MAN PS4 ENDING" right there on the side with a pretty damn big spoiler in the image. Really?

Sorry you got spoiled. Youtube is a mine field. I've learned to stay away from that place as I've been burned before on a couple of occasions. Most recently I got a video in my feed that had a major story spoiler for the walking dead right in the title. And I wasn't even looking at walking dead videos! Lol. Best to just stay outta that place until after we finish the game.

I think the biggest compliment I can pay this game, is that I never want to stop playing it. It's addictive, immersive and quite simply, you are Spider-Man in this game. There is no comparison to previous Spidey games, this is definitive.

I couldn't agree more. I woke up this morning and all I can think about is how long until I can play again.

Combat is definitely my weak spot as well. But...I'm getting better. And I think, like others have described, I have muscle memory of other games in my hands that's honestly making me mess up. Spidey games, Arkham, etc.

Will it take that long for a sequel? I agree with Nathan that it's most likely going to be a PS5 release but for the sequel Insomniac already has the template created. The city, combat, traversal, etc. They just need to build on that and improve things or make some changes. Imo, it seems like most of the time consuming ditch digging is done.

I faced that problem numerous times in the Amazing Spider-Man games, I can see why it's problematic here as well.

I understand, but that wasn't where I was going with what I said. Right now the game is like a fantasy world, but some issues might come to surface after replays.

Havok83 said first, so I'll agree with all three of you. :yay:
I wonder how will they improve combat, cause there is room for improvement.

There's always room for improvement.

Have you started playing yet? I remember you don't like to play games at release, right?

Not yet. I'm waiting for the full game to be released before buying, don't buy accessories separately.

Daredevil first please, Punisher had a great game on Xbox/PS2. xD

If they do these games, Netflix skins are a must.
And that wonderful Punisher engine evolved to giving us Saints Row games.

I'd love to have a game giving you control of all four of the Netflix Defenders, in their comic book origins.

Really enjoying the game so far. I can see some of the side quests, collectible stuff getting old, but the travel is so fun with the swinging, just getting around is very fun.

Something I am enjoying about the game is this new take on Spider-Man.
It’s clearly part of an established universe, but as a Spider-Man who has been active for 8 years, there are quite a few important characters that clearly are still in the early stage so of their characterisation.
I won’t go into specifics, but the mix of established and new is certainly interesting.

I’m hoping for Daredevil to make an appearance in the DLC. (I haven’t completed the game yet, so don’t think this is a spoiler that he’s not in the main game)

only played the first big level at Fisk tower fighting off his goons and got to the big man himself only to be killed by his hidden guns LOL

Yeah that Punisher game still holds up today, and sets the bar I think. Damn good times.

But yeah Daredevil needs representation. His popularity is better than ever thanks to Netflix, and we're coming up on season 3 now. Starting to be overdue now.

Hopefully he'll be playable in that Square Enix Avengers.

Anyone else also completely in love with...

Taskmaster's outfit in this game? I need an action figure.

I'm getting my copy after work, before I take my old man for his birthday dinner. Anyone care to exchange PSN just for the hell of it since we're all playing the same game?

Ya know, thanks to Photo Mode, these boss battles last longer than they should. XD

Just a tiny bit too Deathstroke like for my taste. I'd prefer him slightly less armored. If they use him again in a sequel, I'd love to see him with something a bit more form fitting.

I wouldn't even mind if they ripped off his Ultimate Spider-Man design. Just give me less bulk.

I need to start wandering more, competing more than those first 3 towers. Fought Fisk and now I’m in the middle of his gang on that construction site.

This game is a delight... Arkham City meets GTA, by with proper Spidey mechanics, nods, history.
