Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

Even for story DLCs? (if they do them for this game that is)

For everything dude, I don't trust giving my details on Sony or the 'net as such, I don't shop on-line for the same reason. As I've said on here (probably bored with me saying :funny:), I'm archaic when it comes to tech and modern usage of it.

I get that. But, just so you know, you can give them bogus info. I have a main account, that has my actual info and then 4 separate accounts for Hong Kong, Japan, the UK and US. All 4 of those have addresses picked from the yellow pages. And you can always use pre-paid cards for DLC, so you never have to give them your credit card info.

Ah gotya, surprised you managed to sign up to the Hype. :D

Also, now learnt there is a
Stan Lee Cameo
quite early on in a mission I've done, at the point it's supposed to happen, I didn't get that sequence so I've been robbed :funny:

How are people breaking up the story into what they refer to as the 'acts of the story', I'm about 60% story completion, in what act would I would be in ? Act 2, as where I am in the story, I must have a huge amount to cover in the remaining 40%.

It's in the description of the trophies.

Just finished it, and I think the hype is overblown. The gameplay is solid, but by the end the combat had become tedious. Web swinging felt nice, but landing could be very imprecise, and crawling felt like a last minute addition it was so poor. The story was just okay; better than most video games, but it never balanced all of the characters well enough. The game shortchanged much of its character moments, relying too much on prior familiarity with the universe, and most of the story beats felt like carbon copies of what had already been done in the movies. Until the last act, most cutscenes amounted to "go here and do this." The major event at the end didn't affect me at all because that character hadn't been developed well enough to make me care. The story beats in general were very by-the-book and obvious, as I guessed every major development. I also thought it somewhat strange how similar some of the specific character/plot details and events were to the Amazing SM films, especially given how lukewarm those films were received. The music was also quite bland; at it's best it was an okay imitation of the various themes from the movies, but usually it was just anonymous background noise.

One of my bigger issues with the game was agency. I get that this is an existing character, so multiple endings might not be feasible, but there have been plenty of games like this that managed to fit in branching dialogue. I think they could've handled the set pieces better; either by mixing up the playstyles, or at the very least included more QT events. There were many situations where Spider-Man fought or did things in cutscenes the player could've easily done themselves. It defeats the purpose of being a video game when there are significant moments that have no input

Overall, it was decent enough as the only Spider-Man game I've played, but all of the movies (except ASM2) are better. It doesn't do much of anything to stand on its own two feet, or anything truly unique or surprising to make it a definitive SM experience. At least this is the first accurate onscreen portrayal of MJ, which is something I guess.

7/10

Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as some of on here.

It was a stretch my friend :funny:
Maybe you need to pay someone to plug your PS4 in and use the controller as you shout ‘beat Venom’s ass!’, and then beat them if they fail.

They are doing little story DLC’s. First one is October 23rd. Then one in November and another in December.
Nice! Glad they’ve committed to those.

Not more accurate than this

What's everyone's favorite combat move?

Doesn't matter how many times I've done this but webbing up an enemy then either throwing him, kicking him or Web swing kicking him into a wall and sticking him there keeps making me smile. So fun and bad ass at the same time.

Probably throwing someone after I slid behind them.

Finished the main story today! My god, that was incredible in every sense of the word. insomniac crafted an absolutely amazing story!

Now I just have some crimes left

Finished the main story last night, and I'm at about 90% completion.

While I do agree that the hype is a little overblown and I do have some nitpicks with the game, I had a total blast playing it and I'm definitely looking forward to the DLC and eventual sequel.

Ready for them to bring on you-know-who as the next villain.

Nope, I'm the kind that waits for the deluxe edition before buying a game.
I did repeat that a few times while talking here.

I don't see the problem with wall crawling. There were times early on, maybe twice when small ledges knocked me off, but as you get comfortable with the controls, it becomes muscle memory to manuever through with web-zip, reverse zip, or slow-mo with L2 to zip to where you want. Just keep in mind, a character that moves all angles, upside-down even, with a moving camera, it's a nightmare to program.

That's actually funny, because for someone who isn't playing the game you frequent this thread more than most who are.
