Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

So I saw a video on YouTube of someone getting a 400+ combo.

And here I thought my 125 combo was good. :(

huh, it say joke quoted me and now I can find it? where's page 100?\

I can see it on my I phone 6 plus but it's gone here.

The forum has had a bunch of technical glitches lately. Posts disappearing and reappearing. Log in errors etc.

I finished this over a week ago, and I have been thinking about it. I liked it. I liked playing as Spider-Man. But for some reason this felt unsubstantial and I figured it out. It's the villains. Unlike the Arkham games, the villains here just don't have any presence at all. The writing, the fights, the looks. They all feel like the Bane situation from Arkham City, with the exception of Doc Ock. I feel like it stands out mainly as Batman and Spidey have the rogues galleries in comic books. But here they are just... eh. And most if not all the fights boil down to environment puzzle, hit triangle, beat them up.

Also this game isn't hard, at all. Which is kind of not great when its a single player game.

It deserves to win best storytelling, if only just for the arc with Peter and Ock alone.
Agreed . it should not sure how the shared universe will work with bunch of different game studio not under the same publisher though.but we'll see. vic mention some about Dare devil game winning in his polling I still wantheformer united front game dve'sto do it since they did sleeping dog's . I know they changed their names but marvel a& disney worked with them befor on disney infinity. so they have a relationship.

oh I see that explains alot.

I think we maybe thinking too hard about the shared universe. Given these are all marvel characters so I could see marvel having a little control over the total narrative. That shouldn't stop studios from making the game they're suited to make.

I look at the square enix avengers project for example, we may get a whole new team style avengers rpg but if spidey is included his primary design maybe the ps4 version and he could be voiced by yuri. I think that's the simplest way to have a connected universe without completely restricting the studio from doing what they want to do. Especially if we get individual characters games that may not be consequential to the overall narrative to the entire universes plot.

Its a similar concept to how I wanted DC to do their movies. Individual stories that exist in the universe but dont rely on other characters narrative to tell its overall story almost opposite of the mcu (no excessive crossovers, or major plot that has to tie to every story.) For example batman (Spider-Man ps4 in the scenario) could have a solo story with maybe small Easter eggs about the larger universe, but when you get justice league (avengers project) batman's solo doesn't have to have ramifications to narrative there even though it's the same Bruce Wayne (peter parker) his solo adventure shouldn't matter to that plot. Its basically how the comics work.

Love this game! The gameplay, the story, the performances and absolutely everything about it. I love how they handled the major villains (and even side villains) especially.

I agree. It was a mediocre story that was enhanced by the directing, acting, animation and music.

The first half of the story is dedicated primarily to Mr Negative and the demons rising to power after Fisk is locked up, which I liked. As someone who isn't familiar with Mr Negative, I thought he was very interesting here. The second half of the story however, is comparatively rushed and overstuffed with undeveloped plot points. The Sinister six come and go so quickly, and accomplish nothing. Mr Negative got more screen time than the rest of the six put together. They felt like cardboard cut outs that were thrown in last minute for fan service.

Otto infecting the city with devil's breath came out of nowhere, and was completely out of character. Why did he do it? To make Norman Osborn look bad? The only excuse is that the arms made him do it, because until this point there was nothing to indicate he would murder millions of people at random.
What purpose did this biological attack serve in the story? At this point, the city was already in chaos, filled with escaped prisoners and Sable agents. Did we really need a plague on top of that? A city wide plague should have huge consequences on the story, but the plague has no noticeable effect on anyone or anything except Aunt May.
Essentially, the entire city was exposed to a plague solely for the purpose of killing Aunt May. What could have been a significant plot point was wasted, and now it can't be used in the future.

I understand many people don't agree with me here, but the death of Aunt May was cheap and undeserved. I've been known to tear up during movies, but this death didn't illicit any reaction in me what so ever. It was a disservice to the character, and it only served to add drama to an otherwise underwhelming finale.

Otto releasing the Devil's Breath was explained multiple times. If he released it with the intent on killing millions like you said that would be pretty random, but it was indeed to make Norman look bad. He wanted people to truly hate Norman. It wasn't enough for him to simply prove that Norman was responsible for Devils Breath. He wanted people infected and truly hurt so they could all understand how terrible Norman is. However, (if you listened to the dialogue during the final fight) Otto had every intention of curing them all AFTER Norman confessed to his crimes (including creating Devils Breath). That's why Otto didn't destroy the antiserum. When Peter is pleading Otto to hand it over, he responds: "I'll turn over the antiserum when Osborn pays for his crimes!" When Peter pleads for it again, Otto's response: "I WILL CURE THIS CITY AFTER I EXPOSE OSBORN!" Otto truly thinks he's a twisted savior to New York from Osborn's reign. Like he told Peter at the end: "We have to do what's best for those beneath us, whether they understand it or not!"

So do you think the....

symbiote will be man made or an alien?

Probably just like the ultimate comics, but could see them going the traditional route too.

The Sympiote being there at the end, and developer comments about why the black suit wasn't in the game, indicate to me that they have a major story arc planned for Peter in regards to wearing the black suit, that that will be a big thing in the next game, which is why it wasn't a skin for this game.

Over Kratos and Atreus journey in God of War? I don't think it is close to that. There is way more to the storytelling of God of War. A lot more character and depth. A lot more nuance.

I was disappointed with the quality and quantity of boss battles. Mr Negative and Taskmaster were my favorites, because they felt like actual fights. Taskmaster was the only one that took advantage of the free roam map, and that's a gigantic waste.

But in the end, Otto looks (and is) much, much worse than Norman. Regardless of why he did it, Otto still exposed millions of random people to a biological weapon, and even though we only saw Aunt May die, I assume he must have killed a bunch of others too. It would be way too convenient if the only person killed happened to be his friend's aunt. Until this point, Otto seemed to be primarily concerned with helping people, then he decided to kill a bunch of strangers, to 'make Norman look bad' and in the process made himself look worse. Stupid.

If Mr Negative released the Devil's breath, that would make a bit more sense to me

Yep, over both of those.

Both of those? God of War is the story of Kratos and Atreus. :D

Spider-Man's storytelling is super basic. I was actually kind of letdown by it, especially as it left a lot of the characters lightweight. What about the storytelling in Spider-Man is superior to God of War?

Both of those.

The character relationships, particularly those Peter had with Ock and May I found superior. The fact this game made me really care, and had me choking up by the end in the final scenes with both of these characters shows how good the writing was. Something even some of the multi-million dollar 2 hour Spider-Man movies failed to do.

Finished the game. Best Superhero Media since BvS. Mark my words Spider-Man 2 will be a launch title for the PS5, and maybe the NeXtBOX

Oh man, those last two images are high on my list of favorite screen caps so far, the last one in particular looks like a comic cover.

And that glitch you mentioned in the post above this one was something everyone using this site faced.

Oh man, now I wish I used a comic book frame for that 1. Thanks!

That's what is truly tragic about it. Otto had so much potential, but he let his insecurities and his petty, spiteful feelings for Norman win the day. He LIKED that the interface gave him the "strength" to act out on things he wouldn't have done if his inhibitions and rage was under control. Otto let himself get consumed by it. Like Peter said: "You were everything I wanted to be! You just threw it away!" I feel Otto's audio logs and the Scorpion hallucination scenes also do an amazing job furthering all that character work for Otto. Especially if you don't rush to the end of those segments (which cuts Otto off) I was surprised by how much dialogue there was between Peter and hallucination Otto on my second save file. If you go back to Octavius Industries after he has become Doctor Octopus it also gives you more insight in the character (including how his mission statement for the company changes). Even before there were small hints to the upcoming Raft prison break and him beginning work to improve the tech for all the members of the Sinister Six. I loved all those details.

All the audio files are a great help. The journals are from when he's Doc Ock but the lab journals are when he's still Otto until the last two where he's pretty much far gone. Lab journal 9 is very informative as Otto compares his upcoming bloody quest against Norman to events like founding the nation and trying to get to the moon. It really shows how far Otto has deluded himself.

The Taskmaster drone and bomb challenges are so difficult to get a gold for.

I agree on the drone ones, but the bomb, stealth and combat challenges didn't take more than a few tries for me.

Overall, I thought the game was far too easy to Platinum. Especially with how big the city is, and how many nooks and crannies there are to hide things in.
