Yeah, I mean, I get why they wanted to differentiate the look of this Spider-man. When BB came out, there were still people calling it a prequel, so this movie is trying to do as much as possible to let people know "hey, it's different."

But part of me feels like they're making the costume different for the sake of being different. Granted, we have yet to see the full thing, but I'm just not sure I'm too big on the design at the moment. The lack of belly webs I find kind of odd, but again, I'm going to wait to see the full thing, and then for the full thing in action. Because when I saw TDK suit in full, I still wasn't a fan. In action it really wasn't that bad. Still not what I would have liked, but not that bad.

removing the belt - why?
red stripe down the leg - why?

I'll tell you why, merchandising.

even though i like the reboot suit, I still love this pic

While I love the artwork, I really don't like the colors at all nor the barely visible web lines. I also find the eyes too small and the physique is too built for Peter.

:doh:That hulk24 guy might just be right. Look closely at every single one of the pictures. There is clearly some sort of red design going down his left thigh. Its in ever picture so the guy is not lying.

Here is a bigger, high def version of the same image where you can clearly see the red going down the thigh.http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6159/spideygarfieldl.jpg

Please. we noticed that before he pointed that out, and all he is saying is basically what we've already suspected

Eh, as I've said before I think there's a missing belt.

The larger version in post #4360 shows red in the back of the suit.

So I think your right. Makes sense if theyre going with mechanical webshooters and him needing somewhere to put extra cartidges.

If we do get spy pics of the suit, I hope he's in full costume so that I can see the mask.

I must have missed something - where did the red stripe on the leg rumor come from? It's not visible in the photo.
Also, the are we sure the webs are indented? They sure look like they are raised to me.
I do wish they webs were curved like in the comic, and not just straight lines, but I can live with it.
I too think the belt has been torn off, but we will see.

Eyes that big definitely work better in the comics & cartoons, where they can move around.

^^ Yeah, moveable eyes would NEVER work on film unless they are going for something a bit cartoony.

In the super hi-res pic, you can see a little line of red on the right side of his right leg. (left side on his left leg for you)

There's a brightened up pic shows a thin red band running down the side of his right leg like it does the right arm (if you have access to photoshop or something similar that can alter the levels on the pic you can see for yourself)

This line could just be artefacts from the jpeg rather than something that was actually there (lightening an originally dark source won't yield entirely accurate results in a lot of the details that are revealed as they tend to be 'noisy') but the color shift does tend to suggest a distinct red line is there. I hope there isn't but I would not be surprised if there is as they might be repeating the 'arrow' effect on the gloves for the boots as well.

On the webs, they seem indented in some parts and slightly raised, or embossed, in others. This conflict is probably a result of the lighting so we will have to see a naturally brighter pic to say for sure. Agreed on preferring the tradtional curved shapes. The straight webs work ok on the chest and gloves but I'm not sure how well that can work on the mask (also have to say they look a little lazy to me).

With the belt, could go either way. If there isnt one I'm surprised they would have the middle just fade off like that rather than have a more defined edge, but we'll find out soon enough.

Oh I dont doubt that the 3d makes the suit pop more, but as someone who sees photographs of 2d comic suits all the time...I simply don't think it's necessary.

I think this 2d comic suit already pops enough. (shameless plug) ... but also the one Brad (spidey4fun) makes does too. Now imagine it's being filmed in HD with a really crisp cinematography? Yeah, I don't think it's needed.

But hey...that's just me.

First I would like to point out that I CAN see the muscle padding in this suit. It's one hell of a fan-made suit, but you can easily see the biceps pads..
THAT BEING SAID, HOWEVER...
This goes a long, long way to proving a lot of the "suit" is who is wearing it.
The person in this photo obviously spends some time in the gym. You can fake a big bicep, but you can't fake a shoulder to hips ratio like this guys has. (I assume this is you, SLW? If so, kudos for being fit. You have a body that any movie Spidey should have.)
This is just like a similar Batman suit I saw in another thread. It was pretty much thin spandex, and it looked to only have muscles airbrushed on. It was a slightly checkered pattern, but it was a grey/black combo straight out of the comics. They guy that was wearing it was ripped all to hell and back, and even that suit, which pretty much looked like silk-screened spandex, looked awesome, as he had the body for it.
Take this same costume, and put it on the average build person, and we would laugh our asses off, saying it looked terrible.

I'm actually pretty impressed with what they've done. I like the lack of a metallic, silvery webbing. I like the suit and the shot.

That's the biggest PRO of the suit IMO. Pulling off the webs, without going the Raimi route. No raised, silver webbing, and it still looks badass. If the suit would actually look more faithful to the comic, you know with belt intact, gloves like the comics and the webbing applied to the rest of the red area, for me this would easily be better than the previous costume.

The Raimi suit had urethane webs for crying out loud. Not just black thread to the material. You do realize we're talking about the first 3 spiderman movies, right?

The picture I posted was admittedly a bad one since it was washed out and not done at a decent aperture/ fstop.

Brad's picture is a bit better, though now that I look at it, the picture could be better.

We're never going to all agree...this is all personal preference. I'm just one of the (apparently small) group who would like to see a comic-style suit instead of a movie suit.

Sue me ;)

Look at Vigo in the back, he does not approve.

Anyone else notice the small numbers in the middle of the spider on the new costume??

Check out the hi res pic, I see a "2" clearly, then smaller numbers

hmmph:huh:

Also, best part of this photo shows that Webb will have actual "movie" wounds in the costume instead of terrible CGI wounds that disappear from one shot to the next like Raimi.

Yes, in some ways but in some ways we are pretty advanced. Life in TexXxas and the people there aren't what you expect. We are natural leaders and cage fighters. We are a community who believes in each other, yet not big on interracial dating. It's a grab bag of 20th and 21st century beliefs.

....what the Hell?

You are speaking of TexXxas and not the actual Texas, right? Because we are indeed a proud state and if you are from Texas, we might be a bit embarrassed.

middle of his chest, middle of the spider, bunch of numbers, most specifically there's a clear "2"

call me crazy but that's what I see, like the suit was branded or something, u need to see the hi res bright version
