Ack. I can't be the only one that hates the globe-trotting Spidey thing, right?
It sort of works as a one-off in concept in Civil War (even though Tony's totally irresponsible in seeking out Pete for his little strike group), but doing it in a sequel kind of negates the whole arc of Homecoming, no?
All the becoming-his-own-man, turning-down-the-Tony-tech stuff, embracing the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" schtick.
It's one thing for him going off to D.C. for a couple of days on a school trip, but just seems like they're really going to be playing down the street-level local hero stuff with the MCU version. It's not a dealbreaker or anything, but I just kinda have zero interest in seeing Peter flip around London or Paris or Prague or whateverthehell, taking on threats larger than a local NYC presence.
Especially in the context of a larger shared universe, it's just one of the things that separates the guy from all the others. I can get past the Avengers links (always hated that concept personally, but it makes total sense they'd do it for the movies), but really just wish at least his solo movies would stick around home, play up that local-crimefighting-sensation thing rather than getting caught up in international and/or alien shenanigans.
Like someone else said, if it's a single scene like with Bats in Hong Kong in TDK, fine, that'd work in a context of Kraven or Silver Sable or someone similar. Just sounds from Feige's comments like it's going to be a little more significant than that.
*Shrugs*
