SM3 has major competition with Pirates 2 and Pirates 3. Pirates 2 got $55 million on opening day yesterday, Friday, and broke all box office records for one day totals. I have no doubt Raimi and co. can do it but it will be a fight. I think most of us fanboys and other devout fans can go see Spider-Man movies more than once. I cannot sit through 4 screening of POTC. I think it comes down to the die hard fans to go back and see it multiple times.

Well, let's see Spidey 3 comes out May 4th. I can see it shattering 2 and maybe even ones records given the response I saw when the teaser was shown.

I don't know what the release date of Pirates 3 is but I do know it's Summer of 07. I could see it turning around and shattering the records Spidey 3 just broke.....Pirates 2 left a very BIG cliffhanger, actually two and I can see that being a big draw for people to comeback and see how it all ends.

actually spider-mans domestic total for movie one was $403,706,375, you posted its three day weekend numbers as a domestic total... but your right spider-man 3 will not come close to titanic

The first and most important thing is to NOT move the movie's release to Wednesday or Thursday. KEEP the Friday opening! When there are only 3 days in the opening weekend (rather that 4 or 5), the movie makes more money. More people go to see it in a shorter period of time. I believe this was a flaw in Superman Returns' BO. The movie opened on a TUESDAY night!

We must make sure that Spider-Man 3 sinks Pirates' ship!

Rewatchability , one key to this movie will be rewatchability , the thing with Superman Returns was it was an OK movie but there was nothing about it that made me wanna go see it a second time unlike POTC which I'm sure I'll go see again ,probably next weekend once the crowds die down a bit

im sure spider-man 3 will make about the same as the last 2. Its alittle darker then the others though, and i guess that may turn a few people off and some kids. Its also comeing out in a busy May 2007, where people will be bushed out ffrom the box office. It all depends on how the trailers look, and offcourse most people see movies on how exciting a trailer looks alone.
