Your negligence of spider-man's pulling power is misguided.

lol, I am also looking forward to Spidey 3, and I am every day here.

I think it will be great movie and it will be awesome, if Spidey 3 makes more than POTC2 opening weekend.

But I just think so. And if i think so, it doesn't mean I am Spidey hater.

So shut up :D :p

132M, damn, those are some massive numbers, we're going to need Venom and Carnage and their mother for this one, lol.:D

Wouldn't that mean that it made 100M in 2 days?

That is why I believe they may not reveal the 4th villain at the Con. They will want to drag it out like they did Topher, creating more hype.

bad thing is in may, school is still in session.

Ya... everyone has got finals n sh:t... opening weekends don't mean much but 60,50,40??? Please... Maybe 50,40,35... just short of Pirates or maybe edging it a little... I think this movie is still locked for 400 million tops... 800 ww... respectable for an SM movie but anything but Titanicesque...

I'm not calling you a spidey hater at all. I just think you underestimate its BO drawing in power. I on the other hand believe the previous 2 movies were mediocre at best but despite that they managed to rake in more money than they deserved imo.

Good point... you look at the time table when SM1 was released... half a year after 9/11... it was just a feel good story... it was an anomaly though... Superhero movies don't bring in that much... there was a noticable drop off in SM2... SM3 will hover around the SM2 numbers but breaking the top five and pulling in close to 900 million is just way out of reach... I think the movies are a bit overrated too...

What is this trend with calling movies overrated, I've been told that about Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, just about every damn movie that's released that a lot of people like--you people have a bandwagon a mile long, don't cha? Now I'm waiting for someone to say Pirates 2 is overrated.

Well, I will be happy, if Spidey 3 makes more than POTC2.

But I just have feeling that it won't make it, but it will be #1 domesticly ;)

Definately! As a spidey fan there will always be high levels of optimism and blind hope that the next movie will be great and I hope sm3 delivers

Fair enough.

I don't think people are referring to the numbers... but the quality of the flick... it's not like many of these flicks one best picture... LotR was the exception... just big summer flicks is all, but best films of all time? Not even close...

I for one think SM3 will destroy POTC2 simply because whether you like them or not, SONY knows how to market Spiderman, and they are doing a damn good job with it and the free hype the fan-boys are giving it throughout the internet.

Pirates 2 is overated imo. I couldn't even stay awake for that long-ass dry movie. I'll admit there were some great scenes but the film bored me. I may have to see it again just to see if I suffered a momentary bad experience or if the movie was that boring....seriously, I fell asleep and thats something I never do at the movies:o

I'm talking about the quality, as well. These are not movies trying to win freakin' awards, or make someone's best film list of all-time. I say, if YOU feel a MOVIE isn't up to par, or that it's mediocre, move on to something else that interest you. But I guess, this is what happens when one puts their livelihood into a single film or series.:o

Aaah, but I'm one who enjoys the movies, there's my reason for posting and going to see them...what is your excuse? :O

blind optimism is my excuse. As a fanboy I cant keep away for too long.:(

4. Venom (This alone ensures a BO beating on any competition).
Believe it or not, this is actually VERY true. The other day I was talking to a friend of mine about Superman Returns (the conservation was whether or not he liked it), and I brought up the Spidey 3 teaser. When he asked me what villians are in the movie, and I mentioned Venom, he flipped out, saying how that's "AWSOME!"

May I state that this kid has never touched a comic book in his entire life, and he rarely watched the TV show. His only real exposure to Venom is from the Spider-Man video game for Sega Genesis.

Argh, somehow this "long-ass dry movie" shattered web-boys records. Me thinks you were the only one asleep at the theater, matey!

Another thing that proves that Spidey 3 can make more than POTC 2 opening weekend (if they stick with the 3 day opening): People applaud the teaser. Seriously, the audience actually APPLAUDS a 1-and-a-half minute teaser trailer. I don't remember hearing any applause for anything POTC.

That obviously says something.
