Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Better on Xbox or 360?

Anyone getting a Jason Bourne type vibe there?

"I wouldnt bother them, if they didnt bother me"

Sounds alot like what made Bourne do what he did.

Yeah.

But, the rouge agent storyline isn't exactly new either. It's been around way before Bourne. 007 has gone rogue a couple times.

And really, there's no other way to the set the story up when you look at the ending to DA.

Sam, retired on some tropical island...sounds oddly peaceful, doesn't it?

Yea i get that, what im alluding to is this is what they were originally planning with this game, a Fisher on the run, Jason Bourne type feel. Alot of ppl didnt really care for that style and were hoping this delay would see them go back to the classic SC type gameplay. With this teaser it seems as tho that story-line might remain intact, as for gameplay, who knows. I do feel that the gameplay has seen some dramatic changes from what was orig shown. Guess we'll know for sure in the coming weeks.

Yeah, I think you hit the bullseye.

The game's story will probably remain intact. The only problem I really heard from other fans...was the gameplay. I don't think it was the Jason Bourne story that bothered people. Just the Jason Bourne style gameplay, where he's running, he's tossing chairs and sending crowds into a panic.

That's a complete flip from what Splinter Cell was always about.

I'm still undecided on Hobo Sam too. I mean, yeah...it's scruffy and cool. But I miss the spiky hair.

The viral for this game could be awesome too.

I guess whatever is next, in terms of news, should hit on the 20th and then the 28th I guess.

An E3 appearance would be a great sign too.

Yea, after Double Agent. I want classic, 'working for a splinter cell' Same Fisher type gameplay.

Sam was 'A Splinter Cell' not working for a splinter cell

The agency can be referred to as a Splinter Cell. An agency outside of normal govt command. But yes, Sam Fisher is a Splinter Cell. An agent who is not "officially" tied to the govt.

Third Echelon is a secret branch of the NSA...I just remember a conversation between Sam and Lambert referring to "Splinter Cells in training"

Yea i know exactly what you are referring to. Splinter Cell doesn't refer to any one thing but more of how something is made up. IE Third Echelon, as you said, is a secret branch of govt. If anyone from TE were to be captured or discovered, the govt would deny any knowledge, thats what a splinter cell is in basic terms. Like you can have splinter cell agents within a govt run organization and you can also have splinter cell agency's within the govt, which is pretty much what Third Echelon is.

My pen is a splinter cell....if it stabs anyone, I will deny any involvement

Yeah, Sam has referred to himself as a Splinter Cell. I always took it as just being an ambiguous term that only people in the know would understand. Ie, Lambert would...but maybe some FBI guy might not.

We might actually get some 'Sam working for TE' again, if the story remains intact. I remember the synopsis being that Sam comes back to help out Grimm, returning to the government spook work.

I hope they bring alot of things back. Sam's spiky hair, darkness, multiple paths to complete objectives.

And for the love of God, no "enhanced NVG" or automatic lock pick. Those two things were horrible unlockables for the 360 game.

Oh, and CO-OP. I've only played like one level, because that's all my brother could be bothered to play, but co-op seems like something everyone wants back.

Ive always liked Grim....anyone screwing with her deserves to be choked out

That would be a cool storyline. I just want Fisher back in the classic sneaking suit doing the same classic sneaking missions for the govt. As for co-op, im DYING for it to return to how it was in Chaos Theory. That game had some of the BEST co-op iv ever played. It was amazing.

Fixed....sneaking is for pansy MGS games....stealth is for real men

I think Splinter Cell is simply hard boiled stealth.

Whereas Metal Gear, you could choose to play it like an FPS-type game or all out action if you want...or you could totally ghost it if you want to.

The darkness-light gameplay is really what helped set it apart from all other games really, too.

Plus the fact the SC series always kept two feet in reality, its one of the reasons i, for the most part have preferred the SC series over the Metal Gear series, at least up until MGS4.

Metal Gear is like a sci-fi military shooter. I think MGS3 was the most based on anything real in the government, and that was only because it took place during the cold war and needed setting up.

Sam Fisher and Splinter Cell always had an earnest, dark approach to it all.

It was as if having a liberal secret agent who was working under conservative policies.

The politics was an interesting apsect, as was the media covering all of it.

MGS4 has a strong anti-war theme. Splinter Cell is more about strong internation defense theme, maybe.

They're worlds apart. It's why I could never understand the comparison some fans tried to make in "who's better".

yea i agree with all of this, other than your 2nd point which i think you have reversed, but I'm not going into that here. I think each game, as similar as they may be, are too different to really compare. I mean iv always preferred the more realistic approach that SC takes, but if you ask me which series is better, i couldn't really give you an answer.

Great:yay: I actually was refering to the two xbox versions of DA though:yay:

yes the games are vastly different, but in there are references to each in both games
