SPOILER FREE***Dr. Strange USER REVIEW thread***SPOILER FREE

DS most certainly has personality in spades. I think that's why Marvel Studios films stand out for the most part due to their relatable and charismatic character portrayals

Yes indeed, Marvel Studios has an overall good grasp of characterization and character development, which is a great strength when it comes to its filmmaking. The characters in Marvel's films are very likable and interesting, which makes it easy for audiences to want to root for them and to follow their journeys. This has played a big role in Marvel's success so far.

Doctor Strange as portrayed by Cumberbatch is very engaging, and he's backed up by a very strong supporting cast as well.

I don't think it's fair to compare Dr. Strange to CA:CW, CA:WS and any Avengers film. Those films had multiple films to build up characters and relationships. Strange has to start from scratch and essentially build a whole new section of the MCU on it's own WHILE introducing us to Dr. Strange and his crew.
Yeah it still could have been another 10 to 15 minutes longer BECAUSE it's an Origin movie.
I can think of added scenes/flashbacks for both Mordo and Kaecilius that would give THEM more depth too. Nothing detailed, more like teases as to what brought them to Kamar-Taj

I guess they could have done that, but the truth is, this movie is about Dr. Strange. It's his introduction to the world. Add that to the fact that most of the introduction Marvel movies tend to be a bit brisk in time. The sequels tend to go "deeper".

I'm okay with Mordo's depth being "teased". I can see him getting a more of the spotlight in the sequel. Kaecilius, IMO, was never meant to be considered the "main bad guy". He's the foot soldier and Dormmamu is the real big bad and I think he was handled fine.

To each his own. It wasn't a perfect movie, but I did think it was a perfect introduction to the general public who have no idea who Dr. Strange is...and that's good enough for Marvel.

I just saw it. Wasnt a fan and would give it a 6

Watching it again tonight I agree. I think their back storylines being shown would have added some more needed substance to the movie. It didn't really stand up to a 3rd viewing for me. I still like it, but less now.
