Agreed. I sometimes feel like audiences are like those 35 year olds who still live with their parents and need to hang out with them all the time. We, as the audience, just can't let characters go and need them to be constantly recast and the characters changed beyond recognition.

It'd be harder but not impossible to get interest in a new cast. I mean, most movie-goers only knew Kirk and Spick, but Trek was never that hugely popular so Star Trek 09 was really built on the strength of the trailers, marketing and the film itself.

I'd rather they just do that again with a new crew in the Star Trek universe than eternally recast the same characters.
