I also want to know why it is when a fan rants and raves like a foul-mouthed 2-year-old, that's totally acceptable...but when the daughter of the subject of the rant gets mad about it, she's the one who gets called a little brat and is told to grow thicker skin? :whatever:

best internet post evah

so its George Lucas fault that your nephew likes the show but not the movies

Uh yeah and if you read my post you would see that my nephew never saw the movies and thought they looked boring. I also blame my brother for not making him watch them, the problem is kids think the clone wars is star wars and most have no idea about the movies themselves. It also doesnt help that the clone wars toys and games dominate stores like walmart and have no real movie toys really lying around. A New Hope should always been the introduction to star wars, not clone wars season 2 episode 4.

I wouldn't worry about any of this long term. In five years, Star Wars will die out in popularity like it did in the 1990s and there will be no need to worry about it anymore. Only a few video games and books will still be being released.

Star Wars died in the 90s? If anything it kept growing and growing in popularity with increasing EU output until the mainstream explosions in 1997 and 1999.

People were saying that Star Wars was over and done with in after Revenge of the Sith came out. Look at all the Star Wars stuff that's coming out now. Star Wars is not leaving anytime soon.

Star Wars was pretty much dead from the late 80s to 1997. There were no Star Wars toys on shelves in the early 90s. Sure, there were a few EU novels here and there as well as the remastered VHS releases in 1995, but nothing compared to the onslaught starting in 1997 with the special editions, then the prequels, now "The Clone Wars", etc.

1986-1991 was the "dead" period for Star Wars. For a franchise whose last official entry was a decade previous, there was a lot coming out in the period between 1991-1997. You can't lump a period when there was absolutely nothing coming out with a period when some of the best expanded universe content was coming out.

And don't forget that the pre-production of Episode 1 and the subsequent rumors began around 93/94, which definitely got people excited about Star Wars again.

You hit the nail on the head there.

That's what's so frustrating to me, the majority of the people think Star Wars is a fine movie series. Some people (I almost want to say most) don't even know the difference between the originals and special editions. The people that had their childhoods "raped by George" are just so dang loud about their dislike of everything Star Wars now that it looks like there are a lot more of them then there really is.

I'm embarrassed some times for what the fans have said about George after all he's done.
I would say just phase them out. Not worth ur time to focus on negativity; if they want to waste their time focusing on something they hate, well that's their choice. Besides, the less attention u give them, the sooner they will go away.

I love how George is just able to shrug the negativity off and do his thing. I try to do the same :cwink:. U hate the movies? Dont watch them, it's so simple. If u only like the OT (or viceversa), well good for u, watch those three forever and ever and enjoy them while ignoring the others three. It's all sooo simple, really :woot:

Very true, best to just ignore them. Sometimes I just get riled by a comment someone makes.

And I love George's sense of humor and his take on all the negativity. This is one of my favorite pictures of him:

Just love how he takes it. The "Big Event" interview he did at Celebration V was so good. I suggest to anyone who hasn't heard that yet, look around for it. It's definitely worth a listen to.

I dont know where you lived but there were star wars toys in every toy shop in england even before the 1997 re-release - I 1st watched the OT in 95 and my mum took me to our local toy shop and I got a darth vader and luke in his rebel flight outfit figures, there were also tons of star wars themed micro machine toys around

Yeah, the newer toys came out in the mid-90s (like around 94-95). I said early 90's, from 90-93.

I think at this point Star Wars has become somewhat unable to die, which I don't think is a bad thing at all.

I find ur lack of humor disturbing :cwink: :hehe:
Nice one.

From all the changes GL has made to the OT the change that irks me; Han not shooting first. It just kills me, it really does. :cmad:

Now, replacing that old lady Elaine Baker wearing fake Chimpanzee eyes in ESB with the great and original Emperor actor Ian McDiarmid...pure gold!

I dont think i've heard the first person complaining about that one :funny:

Well I heard some SW OT purest say they did not like that change as well, I for one welcomed it with open arms.

:wow: really?! geesh, the purists kill me sometimes. I dont see how u'd rather have weird bug eyed lady instead of Ian

I'm bothered by Han not shooting first. But out of the Special Editions of the OT I think the special edition of TESB is perfect.

how about stop being a ****ing elitist and be happy that your nephew likes Star Wars...it is not for you to say what Star Wars is or isnt. Nor is it for you to say what anyone should or shouldnt like.
I do buy Star Wars toys from walmart and I can tell you they do have the movie action figures along with the series action figures. Also this last season of clone wars introduced a lot of people into the series from the original trilogy...greedo, Tarkin, Chewie,Mon Mothma

Same here, that was a great change and also makes me wish that they told Liam Neeson to record his dialogue with Yoda for the ROTS Blu-Ray. The got him to do that Clone Wars episodes, so I hope they didn't miss that chance.

Who cares? I don't watch the cartoon either, but my friends' kids love it and it's all part of Star Wars, so what difference does it make? I've seen parts of the cartoon...hell, I wish we had that show when we were kids in addition to the movies too.

They'll watch the movies eventually (and then correct you when you refer to ANH as "the first movie", as some of the kids I know have a few times already).

The look of the first emperor is better, but having a consistent look for the Emperor was indeed a great improvement in the new releases.
