Star Wars - Part 7

I can't hate a man who actually has multiple lines from his films basically ingrained into society's lexicon.

The troubling thing is people paid their money, traveled, probably dressed up, potentially washed AND waited in unbelievable lines just to boo the creator of their coveted universe. That is devotion to anger. That is fanaticism a it's worst.

It is kind of scary I guess =/ At least no one pulled a lightsaber on him.

sad part is there is so much more material of star wars to tell

yet we wont see it on screen

If there was one Expanded Universe story you could bring to the big screen, if given the chance, which one would it be?

Those would be cool. Distance it from the Skywalker storyline a bit.

I don't blame Lucas for not doing more Star Wars movies....most of the "fans" don't even deserve the ones we have.

Honestly, I never thought of Star Wars as an ongoing film franchise but one that had a conclusive beginning and end and I'm happy with what we got. I always thought the films themselves should only be about the story of the Skywalker family.

For me personally, Return of the Jedi was the end of the story.

I have no problem with using other mediums to explore other aspects of the SW universe. Such as The Clone Wars and the live-action show sounds like an extremely cool concept, which hopefully will eventually get made.

I just don't like the idea of fans turning their back on a man who created their beloved Star Wars in the first place. And claim that he went "insane." I mean if they still love the OT they only love the original Lucas who actually didn't really change at all? That sounds a bit crazy to me.

Since TPM in 3D is hitting theaters soon, I have to ask:

Despite how some of you felt about the movie, were there any scenes you liked?

I loved the film, tbh. Sure, it wasn't incredible, but I still think it was awesome. The final duel between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul is my favorite scene in the film.

I remember seeing it for the first time in June of 99 with my little cousin. Seeing them on Naboo and going underwater in that little sub immediately felt "Star Wars" to me.

It was the first midnight showing I went to and I lined up with hundreds of others just to get tickets. The hype was insane. I don't remember a movie more hyped before or since Episode I.

Why didn't you quote the post I made to that other guy, where I answered the exact same diatribe? You already know my opinion on this, I guess you just want to rant and rave for the hell of it...because all you have typed up here is the exact same diatribe I already answered to another person, and the billionith complaint about the original cuts not being released in cleaned up form.
I wouldn't mind them being released either, but I'm not gonna moan about it any longer, the SE adds are not that bad, and when I want to watch the original cut of Jabba's band, i have the laser disc cut he put on dvd to watch, along with the SE dvd cut of RoTJ without the added 'Noooo'.

Most of the adds actually benefit the films...the battle of Yavin is much better on the SE of ANH....the ESB cut is superior in all ways to the theatrical....and as I said, my only point of contention with RotJ is the changed band, so I just watch the laserdisc transfer, which is still pretty good quality, and then switch discs after that section of the film.
If you don't want to watch RoTJ with the added 'Nooooo' on the blu-ray, just switch to your dvd version for the end of the movie.

Anyway, Lucas has given legal permission to anyone to do their own cuts of the films and release them for free on the internet, or by passing on discs, so you *can* track down a cut, or make your own from these sources.
that's what I'll do one day when I get access to the proper tech/software...edit the three versions of RoTJ, laserdisc, dvd, and Blu-Ray, until I get the cut I prefer.

Uh you must have quoted me by mistake because your post makes no since or maybe you didn't understand my post. My post was not even directed at you. I'm not sure the point you're trying to make.
Anyways, as I said I dont care about the prequels. I'll give my view on them every once in a while but in the past few years I haven't watched any of them all the way through. I haven't watched ROTJ in the past couple years either. They just don't do anything for me. The only one I actually watch is ANH. I would love to have the original unaltered cut to go with the SE. I have the option with other classics and I want the same option with the original star wars. The rest im very meh about.

Agreed. If Star Wars pissed me off to the point where I couldn't stand it or George Lucas anymore, I would walk away from it. I wouldn't act like a whiny little twit and boo him at a convention or write mean songs about how he destroyed my childhood.

Sure, Lucas has made some decisions that has left me like :wall: in recent years. But I love Star Wars. I have no resistance when it comes to Star Wars. I was so mad about the changes to the blu-ray versions that I...ran out and got them on the first day anyway. :oldrazz:

This is me in my C-3PO costume on Halloween in 1979, when I was 5:

That's my sister in the Mickey Mouse costume. She now has a 4-year-old son who's just getting into Star Wars now, and he loves it. His cousins are obsessed with it too.

I went on Star Tours with my friend's kids at Disney World, and we spent the whole ride calling out lines from the Death Star battle at each other.

I think that's so awesome. For them, there will always be 6 Star Wars movies...and they will always be correcting me when I refer ANH as "the first movie." :oldrazz:

But this is their childhood, and having Star Wars in its current form doesn't seem to be destroying anything for them. They love it as much as we did, and that makes me happy, and it makes it a hell of lot easier to put my own gripes (and they're there) in perspective.

I would love to meet George Lucas. Just to say thank you.

bravo...well said

I watched The Phantom Menace with my little sister. I really like the movie more than I remember. Only thing I wish it had more of is Darth Maul. :D Liam Neeson as Qui Gon Jinn is perfect casting, he just has a really "awesome" vibe about him. The only movie I'm not really a fan of in the PT is Episode II, but it had some amazing scenes. And I absolutely loved Coruscant.

I can't wait to see it in 3D. I think it'd be cool if they played the Clone Wars ep with Darth Maul before the movie, or made an animated short of him or something. That'd be cool.

Neeson was interesting as Qui Gon Jin. I thought the special effects were spectacular. I loved watching the droid army assemble and the light saber duel was exciting. Also the Pod race is fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing that in 3-D.

Don't really care that Lucas is retiring tbh. I wonder about the projects that could have been, but his future as a filmmaker was ruined years ago. He's been stuck in Star Wars for years and it clearly got the best of him.

It's sad that Lucas feels so scorned by his fan base but it's not surprising. When you have people that worship something, you have to expect their wrath when you tamper with it. I guess Lucas wouldn't have expected himself, the creator to be a target, but really a film this cuturally important doesn't belong to one man. His stubborness and apparent disregard for fans' wishes has fueled a growing contempt between them. Shame really, he's a tragic hero.

I can't wait til hating George Lucas is no longer in style and people can stop being idiots.

Ill be honest, I would just like too see all the action and landscape shots in 3d and just sklp someof the more quieter scenes.

There is a picture with me dressed in a Spider-Man outfit similar to something Danoyse and her sister wore with a kid in a pretty good X-Wing Pilot costume. :cmad: It's funny that my parents never dressed me up and instead I had to wear a Spider-Man costume that had a picture of Spider-Man on it. C'mon Mom and Dad. :(

I have a few:
- Opening scene with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan: it might not be an action sequence exactly but i love it when they're walking in cloaked and then start talking. When Qui-Gon said "Obi-Wan" i remember i got sooo happy :woot:
- R2 saving the day as they escape Naboo.
- The podrace.
- Anakin saying gooodbye to his mother.
- Maul's "At last we will reveal ourselves to the jedi..." line.
- The duel, naturally :oldrazz:, but especially Obi-Wan vs Maul after Qui-Gon bites it.

danoyse: aww look at you all cute in your costume haha. I'd also love to meet Lucas one day and say thanks; he brought joy and imagination to my childhood.

LOL poor Erz. If it makes you feel better my parents never dressed me up in anything SW either.
