See the Empire wasn't really Evil. They were just protecting themselves.

Love this blu-ray change.

George Lucas created Star Wars
George Lucas decides to have Yoda and Palpatine wield lightsabers
Fans upset with it are pretty much telling him he cant do what he wants in his universe when there wasnt anything that said they couldnt have lightsabers...just that they never used them in the OT.

That's strange, I liked the idea of Yoda and Palpy using the lightsabers. When I saw Attack of the Clones , everyone cheered when Yoda busted out the saber.

I like these posters.

Full Metal Jacket, Goodfellas and American Beauty.

With all the talk recently on collectible statues, I was wondering, how come there has never been a Bounty Hunter Leia statue?

Han and Chewie's origin and life debt is never mentioned in the movies yet we accept it as fact

Steven Spielberg created E.T (with Melissa Mathison).

Steven Spielberg decides to give all the characters walki-talkies insted of guns. And change the line "terrorist" to "hippie". And updated effects.

Fans upset with it are pretty much telling him he can't do what he want's with his films.

And he changed them the **** back. Never to release that crap again.

and..........

i guess you are equating something Spielberg feels was a mistake to something Lucas doesnt feel is a mistake to Yoda and Palpatine having Light sabers...which doesnt fit since there arent ongoing stories about E.T. unless you count the ride

I thought the conversation was about the SEOT...with the Palps stuff thrown in. Mah bad.....

I dont mind the Palp and Yoda Saber thing. But Yoda looked pretty stupid in AOTC.

The ROTS fight was better.

HEy guys, Tatoine is real:
http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/119/1194725p1.html
It has come to IGN's attention – via nytimes.com's badass nerd news section, that NASA has not only discovered a strange bizarro planet that orbits two stars at once, but that astronomers involved are informally calling it Tatooine - after George Lucas' famed fictional Star Wars homeworld to both Anakin and Luke Skywalker.

So, About Those Changes on the Star Wars Blu-rays...

So why call it Tatooine? Because Tatooine also had two suns. And these guys all wear lab coats and have mock light saber fights in, you know, the area where they all put on their lab coats.

Kepler 16b. A New Hope?
Now, the official scientifically-stuffy name for this rock is Kepler 16b, which sounds way too much like an apartment building mailbox. But don't let the underwhelming name take away from the fact that this ***** has an orange sun and a red sun! Scientists went on to say that it's probably a ball of gas about the size of Saturn living in a system about 200 light-years away, in the constellation Cygnus. No word yet of the possibility of moisture-farming or podracing. Or a kickass cantina where smugglers from all corners of the galaxy can saddle up to the bar, puff on a hookah and quench their thirst on Blue Russians.

The real-life, fake Tatooine.
Many thought that a planet could never have two suns because in order for it to have a stable orbit the "stars at once would have to be at least seven times as far from the stars as the stars were from each other." Ah, a topic that has started many a flame-war over on the Bantha Fodder forums.

"Reality has finally caught up with science fiction," said Alan P. Boss of the Carnegie Institution, a member of the research team.
Wow, what must have happened there a long time ago in that galaxy far away

He can do whatever he wants, that doesn't mean it makes sense, is good, or is stays true to the characters.

He could have Roger Rabbit show up, throw Anakin into space and take his armor and be the Vader we know through the OT and some would defend it as it is "his story". :awesome:

Just because Lucas is the originator does not mean he is immune to the criticism every other filmmaker is subjected to. You know like terrible writing and bad directing.

I'd like to quiz you guys if it's ok with you, just to see how much you know about Star Wars.

1) What is General Grievous's homeworld?

2) Name one famous Mandalorian, other than the Fett family.

3) What exactly is the Kessel Run?

4) How many members of the Skywalker family are there?

Not sure if there is a blu-ray release thread around so I'll post it here. I managed to pick up the complete saga a few days ago and haven't watched up to Empire Strikes Back. And so far the CGI Yoda in Episode I is one of the best changes made. He almost looks life like and perfectly fits in with other Jedi members. One thing that has pissed me off with the blu-ray releases has been with A New Hope.

A New Hope w one of the areas where the previous releases have always upset me and it doesn't change here. Han still shoots first, and I don't mind. But what pisses me off is when Luke is training in the Falcon with his Lightsaber. And the problem begins here. The top of the light saber hilt and bottom of the blade, where they join, is completely out of wack. The blade and hilt don't match up and seem a second off each other. But at least the blade color is spot on, that is until 10 seconds later, and the color goes from bright blue, to light blue and everything in between.

Then my next problem is later on between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan. The red blade is rich and looks like the prequel trilogy. Perfect. As does Obi-Wan's blade. Bright blue. However then throughout the battle, the blue blade goes purple twice. And I thought to myself, you must be ****ing kidding me.

It's Mace back from the Force :cwink:

Erz: that's funny :hehe:

Booya, *****.

I liked the duel between palpatine and mace and the other jedi better in the book also. Anikan going in through the window and seeing kit fisto's head was a far more powerful moment than him just running in. Plus it was raining and lightning in the book. The book had many moments that were just more emotionally and symbolically charged. The final duel was far and away better in the book too.

They way they explained how Palpatine set up the Jedi to look like the bad guys was BRILLIANT. They really got into the manipulative part of his personality. The 'not from a Jedi' line was delivered much better in the book on tape. It's more of a casual line by Palpatine, rather than '....Not...from a Jedi.....[EVIL!]'

One thing i hate about the EU is the constant stories about Skywalkers. Its like they decided you can't have SW story without a Skywalker

Anything with the fights in Empire and Jedi? I know they fixed the infamous clash in front of the Emperor.

Do clones count as Mandalorians?

They were raised as Mandalorians, speak Mandalorian, and half of the mentioned live on MANDALORE.

I think they count.

Except for The Knights of The Old Republic, The Old Republic, Republic Commandos, and the Jedi Knight series, which had Luke in it for, what, 10 minutes total. Throughout the entire series.
