Still. Atleast the characters were likable. So even with some shoddy lines, you can forgive them.

Hell, almost everything Leia says in ANH is cringe worthy, with that horrible accent she throws on.

However, her character is sassy, and smart, which made her incredibly cool.

Anakin is just a *****e. I never liked him. I only started to like him when he began slaughtering children, because he was atleast a horrible villian. But man...was he whiny, and unlikable. Especially that Mustafar scene.

Leia is awesome in ANH and only uses that accent when addressing Imperials. It's her "diplomatic voice" and Padme used a "diplomatic voice" too-if you notice, in official settings, she spoke in a stilted voice, while in all the other scenes she used her normal voice. When Leia was talking smack to Han, Carrie used her regular accent. When talking to Vader or Tarkin, she used that fake English accent.

I thought Obi-Wan was easily the most likeable character of the PT, and the best acted.

I know. I still dont like the accent. But it's not a big deal, as her character, how she talks, act's is different, and fun. Which makes her very awesome.

And yes, Obi Wan was the best thing about the PT. Ewen did fine. Not great....not his fault, but there are times where he could've been better, which comes from poor directing.

Ewan really rocked the final Mustafar/anakin burning monologue...that was the best dialogue of the trilogy. Home run.

As much as I like Alec, Ewan McGregor was an awesome Obi-Wan, however he had a lot more to do during his trilogy than Alec.

If Lucas is dead and gone, and isnt writing the script, anyone would be a good Anakin.

And while most of the blame is on Lucas for that horrible character...you can't say Hayden "did the best he could" because every movie i've seen he's utterly terrible, and ALWAYS unlikable.

See Jumper, or Shattered Glass...whatever it's called. Blah.
Hayden is unlikeable, agreed, but they also wrote Darth Vader as a whiny brat. My guess is Lucas is just not good with subtlty and couldn't help spelling out how emotional troubled Anakin/Vader was, rather than making it more of an unspoken troubled nature.

I blame both of them for Anakin's failure as a character. Lucas made such a perfect choice with Mark Hamill, but he missed the boat with Hayden.

Mark is the unsung hero of the SW film series. Had he not been completely sincere as Luke, SW would have been a lot cornier than it is. Then he was awesome in ESB despite acting opposite of a Muppet for most of it, and he carried ROTJ. Most underrated actor ever, IMO.

no, i liked anakin's portrayal but like others have said, more subtle stuff was needed

some of his dialogue is horrible in ATOC
especially that akward line when he first sees her again

Actually, the pseudo English accent happened because she'd been going to school in London for awhile before she was cast in Star Wars and she had briefly picked up the accent.

I saw her play, Wishful Drinking, on Broadway a few years back (which was hilarious), and she played the clip of Leia saying the "foul stench" line just to make fun of the accent. She still seems fairly mystified as to how she suddenly sounded British in that movie.

The stuff she did on Star Wars in that show was awesome.

So, I'm the only one who likes Anakin's portrayal?

I have mixed feelings about it. I thought he was best in the first half of ROTS, then he snapped. But it worked for me. Just because he isn't a good guy doesn't mean he isn't a good character.

When he was a kid, his mother said he gave without wanting rewards-and the only time he ever did that in his adult life was when he finally had enough, yelled NO and chucked Sidious down the chute in Death Star II. Saving Luke was the first time he really did something for anyone other than himself.

I thought that was the biggest problem with Anakin too. You can almost see Hayden cringing at his own dialogue in a few scenes.

My biggest problem was how he was finally turned into Darth Vader. It wasn't convincing, there was no solid reasoning behind it, and he had been so hoodwinked it was hard to believe he'd been that stupid to believe every lie Palpatine was feeding him.

She has the accent in the scene with Vader on the Tantive IV as well, though. Or maybe not exactly an English accent, but it's less natural than the dialogue between her, Luke and Han. Maybe it's just because the scenes themselves were different.

Regardless, she was hilarious in ANH.

After watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars, one thought filled my head:

Order 66 or survival/hiding?

I've only seen her in that godawful movie.

But regardless, hopefully rotting on some planet with a blaster shot through her skull.

She has some form of it for the entire movie. It wasn't intentional, it was just because she had been attending a drama school in England for at least a year before she started the movie and she'd picked up the accent. She played the clip during the play to make fun of the fact that she suddenly sounded British...and to poke fun at George's dialogue.

The same thing happened with the kid who played Newt in Aliens. She'd been living in the UK with her family before she was cast, and in a few scenes she has a bit of a British accent too.

The Clone Wars movie works a lot better when seen as four individual episodes as originally intended. It's not great. They were still learning. Nothing can undo the damage of Truman Capote Hutt.

Whatever happens with her happens before ROTS, IMO.

I liked him. :csad:

Order 66 or survival/hiding?
I think she's either going to leave the Jedi Order or die (by the hand of Count Dooku would make sense, but i cant rule out Ventress either). But who knows. Or maybe she dies because of Anakin somehow... that would help push his character near the edge a bit more for sure.

I do agree with Kurosawa though, whatever happens to her i think will be before ROTS. Dont think she'll be around for Order 66 at all. The only way she'll live beyond that is if she leaves the order imo.

And no, ur not the only one who likes Anakin's portrayal.

I've been eh, on some of these Mondo posters. I've tried to buy them so I could flip them on Ebay.

But some of these, I have to admit, I'd buy them for myself.

I got this on Ebay.

I'd love to have this too.

Are you gonna frame that awesome one you got of Luke and Yoda on The Dagobah System, Erz?
