Better to have the original versions on dvd than none at all!

I always thought that. I could be wrong, but people weren't happy when they released the films on DVD, again, with the original versions of the films on the second disc, right?

I've always been happy with that myself. Sure they don't look great, but it's great to have them anyway.

Does anyone find it interesting that George Lucas will change audio and some matte images, but the old special effects are simply neglected since at least 1998 in the new Blu-Rays?

Who here is getting the complete saga? Because as awesome as it would look on a shelf...those prequels are not worth their half of the pay.

Except for Revenge of the Sith, moments from Attack of the Clones, and Liam Neeson/Darth Maul in Phantom Menace.

I'm not a fan of the cover art , so i don't think it will look awesome on the shelf. I can't resist getting the whole saga though , the prequels should be literal eye candy. I can't wait to watch the pod race in Phantom Menace. Although I think the OT is much better I can still enjoy the others.

Nope. Doesn't work for me.

See, IF the originals were DVD QUALITY...then yeah man, I'd be ok with it.

However, they're awful looking, and probably wont fit (non anamorphic) any TV I own....

It's almost like owning a bootleg....:o

Originals. Restored. Or bust. That's how us fans on this side roll. :awesome:

I had a conversation wiht my brother in law last night at dinner about this release. Now mind you hes 33 and im 26 so I grew up more on the prequels and the hype that spanned 99 - 05. He said to me "your not buying that release are you of the prequels? I said yes Im buying the saga collection and I'll tell ya why. I love the originals and they still hold up well by todays standards but the prequels have a special place too in my heart. It was a fun time looking for spoilers and the hype and overall atmosphere that each movie brought. Since 2005 no movie has come close to the hype that episode 3 had. Now granted he thinks empire strikes back is the holy grale of star wars mythology but I love all things star wars minus the clone wars show. Changes or no changes there fun movies to watch and to be able to sit down for 6 nights in a row and watch the complete saga from episode 1 - 6 will be a treat.

It would have been interesting to see james franco's take on anakin and how he would have played it in episode 3. I cant remember but was it really down to him and hayden? I know leo turned them down at one point.

To my knowledge, nothing has officially been said regarding who the final candidates were.

I'll be checking out ur take on them, SchumacherFan :yay:

marvelman2006: i have to agree with you here. I've seen many wonderful movies since then but still for me ROTS is probably the best movie going experience i've ever had in my life and one i know i wont forget.

Shame I have to wait till next month to get all these Blu Rays. I haven't seen the original trilogy since I watched them on VHS when I was a kid. I still have my Special Edition VHS copies of the films. Really looking forward to the Blu Rays

I'll be picking up the entire saga on Blu Ray. I don't think the Prequels were nearly as good as the Originals, but I still really enjoyed them. I'm looking forward to checking them all out on Blu Ray.

Next on my wish list ... The Indy movies

So far, my favorite of the krayt dragon parodies:

Lily Collins as Padme? I love me some Natalie... but I wouldn't wanna choose.

Who here remembers the awesomeness of Power of the Force? You would've had to be a kid at this point, because those figures are fugly.

I still have them in a basket upstairs.

:woot: I think Luke, C-3P0 and R2-D2 are still in the Landspeeder.

I remember when I was first getting into Star Wars, hell, I even remember my first Star Wars toys...

X-Wing Luke, C-3PO, R2, and Vader.

Then I went back, and got that Speeder. And it kept growing.

I also remember buying Boba Fett BEFORE I knew who he was....that's how cool Fett is. :D

Aside from Fett, my favorite was Bespin Luke.

I also got Luke's green saber for my birthday. That was the **** back then.

I still remember the Phantom Menace stuff. My first figure was Obi Wan. I also looked for, but couldnt find Darth Maul anywhere. I was depressed about that for a bit.

Then we went on a trip shortly after, and I walked into a Walgreens for some lotion or something, and I just decided to look at the Star Wars section....THERE HE WAS...there were atleast 3 of him. I was so ****ing happy, I actually did a jig in the middle of the store. One lady was lookin at me, and I simply replied to her "I FOUND DARTH MAUL!"

She laughed, and walked away. :hehe:

But sure enough...I was playing with him in the ocean, dragging him on the bottom in the sand...and when I pulled him up....his arm was gone. :(

But we got him replaced.

:csad: I went through several Boba's. I kept losing his jetpack. I remember that Leia was supposed to be difficult to find. They'd always have Han's and Luke's and Vader's, but they never had Leia. I wish I hadn't been so careless with some of these figures looking back. A lot of them that included helmets and packs haven't got them anymore.

Man, I remember those Phantom Menace figures though. Didn't they come with little chip things, and you had to go out and get something else to hear quotes off it? I can't believe that was 12 years ago now? They released Phantom Menance chocolate bars, and I collected every single one and they're still in the freezer. Broken, sadly, but still in the freezer.

My fondest memory of these toys though as a holiday, when I was a kid. I had A New Hope on video tape, not sure if I had the other two then or later, and on that holiday I got a couple of figures. My Father decided I needed a vehicle as well, though, and went back and got a Tie Fighter ha ha. Where does the time go?

I biggest regret was never buying a Jango figure, though. I always wanted that figure. That, and there's one Mace Windu figure you can buy now I'd love to get.

And I always say
Mace didn't die in Revenge of the Sith. He landed in a passing speeder and became a one handed farmer.
:oldrazz:

I remember the Darth Maul action figure was hard to find. I remember this because my brother pursued one like a mother ****er.

Once we got Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Maul, we reenacted Dual of the Fates on our couch with them.

Is there any news on if the crappy CGI Jabba from ANH is going to be changed? If Lucas is going to keep that scene, he might as well make Jabba LOOK like Jabba.

Yeah, you'd think they'd try to update him for the blu-ray so that he doesn't look like something from a PS2 game.

I wanted Luke's green saber when I was a kid (pre-prequels), but I was given Vader's. Ten+ years later, I bought a Vader Force FX saber. :iayf:

Vader rules.

Poor Maul... destined to end up in pieces :csad:

:oldrazz: cute story though haha. I bet that lady told someone she saw a kid going crazy at Walgreens.

I must say, i've never owned any figures. My main thing was books at first and then slowly i got into busts and replica lightsabers.
