Star Wars Comics and Graphic Novels

Aw, I loved it. It focused a lot on political and legal conflicts, which I found fun. I wasn't a big fan of trudging around underwater, though.

I hope so. Still, that's a really long time between games. That quote from an Obsidian guy that I read said that Obsidian was ready to go with KotOR 3 in 2004, right after KotOR 2 was 'completed,' but LucasArts wouldn't give them the go-ahead. Maybe they were just waiting until the 360 had developed a decent presence in the market. I doubt they'd want to rely heavily on PC sales, since people have all but abandoned the PC as a gaming system.

I wouldn't want to see any Final Fantasy-style combat systems show up in KotOR. I liked the system they had for the first two games just fine. Auto-pause is the shiznit. :oldrazz:
Have you played Final Fantasy XII:huh:
It's almost the same battle system, just more refined.

I have not, but I was under the impression that all FF games have the same battle system, where everything's displayed at the bottom while the camera swooshes around your characters up top until you actually do something. Then there's all the limit breaks and junk. I'd really prefer not to see anything remotely like that in KotOR.

Actually, I think Korriban was probably the worst map. Other than the Sith Academy stuff, it was bleh.

"Other than the Sith Academy stuff" basically means other than the entire point of the world. Pretty much all you do there is pillage some tombs and **** up the Sith Academy. Unless you mean in KotOR 2, in which case I agree. Korriban was boring in KotOR 2.

Did you see the trailer for the new animated series?

Yes, that's exactly what I meant.
Okay.

I can't wait to get my computer's new power supply. I'm gonna play through KotOR 1 and 2 and the entire Jedi Knight series again. It'll complement my upcoming Netflix rentals of all the Star Wars movies (including both the theatrical and special editions of the original trilogy) and the Clone Wars DVDs nicely.

I'm on a bit of a Star Wars kick lately.

Okay, it's all quotes, all the time now. The Hype's making my brain hurt. :o

I haven't seen the trailer. I saw a promotional image that looked pretty cool--like a 3D version of the Clone Wars animated shorts. I'll hunt down the trailer now.

No, my work computer didn't have the software to play it, and then I forgot it afterwards because I had this painting class and I didn't get home until like 11:15.

Just saw it. Looks pretty good; I like the fact that they based the designs off of the animated Clone Wars series. It's always nice to see Obi-Wan in his Clonetrooper armor, too. I just don't really see the need for the series to exist, though. We've already seen the Clone Wars and what happens to all of the major people involved in them in Episodes II and III and the Clone Wars animated microseries. That sucks some of the drama out right there. Plus, what more is there to really cover in the Clone Wars? Clones and droids fought, Obi-Wan and Anakin became heroes, Mace was a badass, Grievous killed boatloads of Jedi, pretty much all of Dooku's not-quite-apprentices sucked ass, Anakin flirted with the dark side before ultimately falling, and then Order 66 and Operation: Knightfall were underway and the Clone Wars were over. What, are they gonna walk us through every single battle this time?

It would've been nice to see some new parts of the Star Wars mythos covered this time around. I would've killed to see a New Jedi Order series starring Luke, Han, Leia, and the first class of Jedi Knights from Luke's new academy, like Kyle Katarn, Kam Solusar, and Corran Horn.

Okay, so I took a look at the latest issue, and... It wasn't that bad. :o

Yeah, I read the last issue myself. Good stuff. It kind of feels like Miller's let the pacing slow down a bit too much, but that might just be me, since this is the first time I've actually had to wait between issues. Zayne, Carth, and Karath don't even make it off the ship in this issue, though. Camper and Jerael's side of things picked up a bit to make up for it, I guess. Camper's cured and about to learn what Adascorp has in store for him, which has me looking forward to the next issue. I have a feeling whatever Camper started developing for Adascorp is going to be something recognizable from the games.

I hope it's a strobe light.

Either way, after reading this thread (despite my...lack of taste in Star Wars) I think I might just check this out. Curse you Corpy. :o And Dodge. :o :o

Tarisian ale.:o

Probably. One glass has kept him drunk for the last 30 years, explaining his weirdness.

Is anyone reading Star Wars: Legacy? I just bought the first trade, largely because of the concept of Imperial Knights (Force/lightsaber users who are neither Jedi nor Sith, but completely loyal to the new Empire and trained as well as any Jedi or Sith).

What about Darth Sion...he's the one I remember most from Kotor II. Has he been shown?

So this 3-D Clone Wars is a rehash of the old Cartoon Network series?

I've got all of them.
I'm not too sure I like Cade, but I do like the idea of the series. I like how the empire at Bastion are the good guys. Did you notice that Cade's father has his father's and Mara Jade's red hair?

Sion hasn't been shown yet. There's another horribly disfigured guy that a lot of people think could end up being Sion, though. He's not a Sith at the moment, but that can always change pretty quickly.

I don't really know what Lucas et al. are planning to do with the new Clone Wars cartoon. I guess they could just be expanding on the formula set forth by the Cartoon Network series. I kind of wish they'd just expanded the CN series to half-hour episodes instead of two- to five-minute ones if that's the case.

Also, I just finished the first trade of Star Wars Legacy. It seemed really formulaic, to the point where it might as well have been called "What if Luke Skywalker had Han Solo's personality?" At least, it seemed that way at first: there was Cade Skywalker, the hard-ass, disreputable, drug-addicted bounty hunter, a physically broken-down Sith lord in command of a Galactic Empire fighting off a rebellion headed by ex-royalty, a Jedi Order teetering on the brink of extinction... hell, even a princess who coyly flirted with Cade/Han/Luke. But I think it has some potential, and I'm a big fan of John Ostrander, who's managed to squeeze some great stories from the jaws of formulaic set-ups before, so I think I'll stick with it for a while and see where it goes.

Also, as I predicted, the Imperial Knights are badass.

I sure hope so, I love me some Jolee Bindo. I hope we never go to Manaan. Probably my least favorite map.

I despised Manaan. Hated the way those damn freaks spoke.

Manaan was one of my favorite maps, just cuz I always built up my Force Persuade and picked a fight with the Sith, and then convinced the authorities that the Sith started it. Made the whole thing worth it for me. :woot:
