Star Wars - - - Part 12

I like to think that George had a scene play out in his life like at the end of ROTJ. Where he threw evil George down the reactor and saved Star Wars (his son).

Having Di$ney get it is worrisome, but hopefully its done right. This time they could actually get a good writer. Even ESB is not a master class screenplay. So many of there movies lately have been rushed and the screenplay has suffered b/c of it. POTC 2/3, IM2, and the avengers. That was saved b/c Whedon is so good.

I know it will be in 3-d, but please shoot this in 24fps. You do not need but so many gimmicks to get people to see Star Wars.

Exactly, when you have as much money as he has and we are still talking about billions he is getting in this deal, the priority shifts to what is best for the franchise over money.
When he's already a billionaire from the franchise, I don't think he needs the money any more. Plus, I think he'll probably receive some royalties or stock options from Disney that make this deal worth more than the initially reported $4 billion agreement.

I love Zahn's trilogy too, but Leia was pregnant in those stories and unless they recast Princess Leia, I don't think Carrie Fisher can play a pregnant woman convincingly, given her age.

That's why I'm worried about the EU. I can't see them passing up the opportunity to use Luke Skywalker and him leading a new generation of Jedi Knights... but to do that they have to wipe away a huge portion of the EU... like most of it.

The only way to do TTT or DE is to use actors who are willing to have a CGI likeness of a young Hamill, Fisher and Ford in place of their heads and voice overs. I'd welcome it if they technology were there, frankly. Either that or a fully CGI animated film.

We'll see, I supposed we could hope for Star Wars: Legacy and Cade Skywalker...

Joss wrote The Avengers though. And IM3 looks amazing and they gave that time. I think they've learned they can't rush stuff too much. Star Wars is on another level. They will get the best of the best I'm sure.

Doing it in a natively filmed 3D versus post-convert is what I'm hoping for. The best 3D movies, visually, I've seen have been those that were filmed natively in it.

I'm personally excited and scared at the same time. A lot can and will happen by 2015 so I'll wait a couple years till we get some news.

Honestly...at first with the site I visited I thought it was some sore of prank...than I saw the coverage on other sites.

...and still haven't made it through the OT Blu's and haven't been able to watch my CW Blu's (its a bummer having health issues)

Its gonna be weird to watch a Star Wars film without the 20th Century Fox Fanfare at the beginning

Funny thing is all the people on the net thinking it will be Disney making the movies. Just like Marvel Studios made The Avengers, Lucasfilm will make Episode VII.

Same with people saying "well The Avengers turned out great so maybe this will too", well guess what, Marvel Studios isn't making Episode VII anyway, so it has no relation.

Lucasfilm will still exist and be the creating company, it just has a different home. Like Lucas says in the interview, it's now Kathleen who will lead things forward (meeting with writers, directors etc.), with George as a Yoda on the side.

Well I figure it will be Winter 2015 most likely December. they will have a good 3 years behind it.

Man I have a feeling SDCC will be big next year if they do something for that. Walls will fall down people will go insane.

I'm thinking Star Wars Episode 7 will be at SDCC '14 along with Justice League and The Avengers 2.

I would've been extremely wary if the new films were a completely new series, a reboot. I'm very glad it'll be in the same universe, pardon the pun.

You also have to wonder how detailed the initial treatment that Lucas has done for 7-9 are. If they have lots of plot details, then all the writers need to do is write dialogue, rearrange certain stuff, and flesh out characters/locations. With Lucas as a source to go to still, their jobs would/should be fairly easy.

Lucas was the problem with the PT. So with him as only a consultant the films are already off to a great start.

What was specifically stated in the conference call with Disney this afternoon is “what we’re buying… is a pretty extensive & detailed treatment for the next three movies.” Lucas says “I have story treatments for [Star Wars] seven, eight, and nine, and and a bunch of other movies, and obviously we have hundreds of books and comics.”

Development of Episode VII is well along, though we can’t say precisely what has been done. We can speculate a lot, and guess that Kennedy will want to start hiring talent to take the film through the next stages of development very quickly, but I’ll refrain from that here. And, in fact, there could already be people on board and under death-threat NDAs. Recall that Warner Bros. had a Justice League script brewing for a year that went unreported until the studio was ready for word to get out.

I would really welcome the original unaltered trilogy on Blu-ray. There's more chance of that happening now.

Yep, this is about securing the long term future of Star Wars as opposed to anything else.

wont happen for a while...the OT distribution is tied up with Fox

I partly liked the prequels (love ROTS), so you are talking to the wrong guy. ;)

Do you guys think it's safe to say this is the biggest media/film news of the past decade?

I seriously can't think of anything of this scale. I mean this is huge.

Hmmm maybe that would be my first SDCC lol, man it would be crazy.

Ya he said they could use it. But by no means have to. But it will be interesting to see what they decide to do.
