Star Wars - Part 6

I've heard that in the late 70s early 80s, Anakin became a popular name for boys. It became popular again in 2000. I'm too lazy to do some actual research but there's probably quite a few Anakins walking around out there.

Weird....I still think it's a bad idea to name your kid off a fictional character. IMO.

Do you know that the name Madison became popular because of Splash? Actually, no one named their girl that name before that movie. I mean yeah, now no one thinks about it and I think the name Anakin would be a hard name not to associate with Star Wars but my point is, it does happen.

lol, I've told this story quite a few times on the hype but Bishop had always been one of my favorite names ever since I saw the movie "Juice" (2Pac's character). In 1998 my wife was 7-8 mths pregnant w/ our first child and I had convinced her to name him Bishop. We're standing in a little Shoppette in Ft. Gordon, GA and i"m looking through the comics they have. Right in front is the comic "Bishop - Xavier Security Enforcer". My wife really liked the name Xavier so my eldest son's name is Bishop Xavier. :awesome:

I hope we are gonna see a pic of your tree Erz!

As for the name thing, I think you only have to worry when people start calling their kids Snake Eyes, Batman and Deadpool. :D

Couple of cool pieces of art!

featuring my favorite character...thanks and i just right clicked those...:woot:

...yeah the bust is pricey, but I pre-ordered it...never ordered directly from Sideshow before...

My problem with the name isn't that it's strange, it's that the name is only from one certain property. It's not a name used in other places. It's a Star Wars thing.
Well considering the impact of Star Wars it shouldnt really be a surprise that even the names become popular. No clue if Anakin was used before the OT though.

Those are great, Hunter :woot:. Someone is digging Ventress a lot, me thinks :oldrazz:

Erz: indeed, you have to show us a picture of your tree! I cant believe i've never bought any SW Christmas ornaments :O

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

May the force be with you!

The Umbara arc of Clone Wars has to be my favorite set of episodes so far. They were amazing!

The last episode was pretty good too, nice to see more of Obi-Wan roughing it up Indy style. :D

I liked the start of this new arc, it's clearly going to push Anakin's darkness and I loved the new speeders with gunner sidecars. :D Darts D'Nar was ok but they didn't make much of his laser whip reveal and I don't see him breaking out like Cad Bane, Pre Vizsla and Savage Oppress.

I'm just glad that it was set during the day time.

Everything looked so great.

Going back to the topic the other day of naming kids after characters, the guy reviewing last nights ep here has a son called Anakin. :D

Anakin (my son, not the character) didn’t get that Obi-wan was purposely throwing the fight and started shouting at the screen, “Use the Force, Obi-wan! Dad! Why isn’t he just using the Force?”

:funny:

This arrived yesterday and now stands to the left of my monitor on my desk! :awesome:

Hunter you should take pictures of your collection.

I saw Hugo this weekend and they showed the 3D trailer for TPM before the movie. Looks pretty cool in 3D.

Star Wars OG marathon on Spike TV for anyone that's interested.

:)

Yeah, poor Obi lol. He really took a beating there, it was the first time i saw him with his hair all messed up :oldrazz:

Hunter's quickly becoming an avid collector! indeed, you'll have to take pics of all your stuff soon and show us.

Speaking of collections, did you guys see this? http://www.efxcollectibles.com/p-130-luke-skywalker-anh-x-wing-pilot-helmet-pre-order.aspx soooo tempting! pre-order starts tomorrow...

I'd name my kid Luke before I'd name them Anakin, but that's because I am all about the goody-goody types.

I'd name my kid Luke, Ben, Lando, and Hans, before Anakin or Mace. That's a good question, why did the names get so strange during the prequels?

I named my daughter Maia Jade...baby mama didn't like Mara...however Maia is the name of Hermes mom and he is my favorite greek god

To be fair the name Anakin already existed in the original trilogy.

That's pretty awesome. Kind of a shame that the wife didn't let you go with Mara.

Mara is a pretty name.
