wait Yoda was a muppet...no...no...noooooooooooooooooo

Anyone here read any of the books?

Here's my take. I am a Star Wars fan. It seems when ever I tell someone about it I get the whole "raped childhood-Jar Jar-Lucas Lost it" diatribe. It gets tiring. I come here to not dwell on the negative to relish in the positive.

Some folks feel they need something to be angry about because it validates their "appreciation".

I read I, Jedi, Outbound Flight, and Death Troopers this year. I really liked Death Troopers, I want to get the next Horror Star Wars book.

I got through about 75% of Death Troopers, can't wait to finish. Outbound Flight is Zahn greatness and I, Jedi still seems to be the most grounded of all the books. I love the scene where he calls Luke out as he's leaving. I really enjoyed the Republic Commando Series, shame it had to end so unceremoniously.

I like the New Jedi Order and the books that followed

I rather enjoyed the Vong War, great character stuff during that time period. Say what you will, I like Jacen and Jana.

If you want more Zahn greatness, Thrawn Trilogy is a must if you havent read it :woot:. I have some vacation time coming up, and i think i'm going to re-read some of the older SW stuff i havent touched in ages.

I stopped reading post ROTJ stuff because of NJO... in fact i think i'm on book 8 or 9... but as much as i thought the Vong were a great idea, Chewie and Anakin's death just got to me :csad:. Do like Jaina and Jacen though.

Just finished a star wars marathon. I think jedi is my favorite right now. my new ranking is

VI
III
v
IV
II
I

I'm reading Zahn's Choices of One right now, which is pretty good so far. The Thrawn trilogy is pretty amazing.

I'm also catching up on the Last of the Jedi series now.

:funny:

When my folks took me to see ESB in the theater, my mom kept trying to explain to me that the guy playing Yoda was the same guy who played Grover on Sesame Street and I didn't get it. I thought she was out of her mind, she kept saying "That's Grover!" and I was totally confused and asked her where Grover was, and pointed out Yoda and I kept saying "No, that's Yoda!"

I remember she finally gave up and said "Forget it, she doesn't get it!" to my dad. I was six, I had no idea why the hell she thought Yoda was Grover. :funny:

I've read the the Thrawn Trilogy and subsequent Duology (still don't think that's a word). Zahn has to have some genius level character plotting to write Thrawn. Simply breathtaking stuff listening to Thrawn potificate on other beings & species.

The deaths of Chewie and Anakin serve as such a great catalysts for the following stories and character arcs. Reading about Han coping about Chewie was some great stuff and Anakin's demise kind of solidified the beginning of the Vong War.

I really need to go out and get Zahn's latest. I am pleased to hear good things.

Also, the Thrawn Trilogy comics are pretty good as well. They don't carry the same weight as the books, but that is to be expected.

Again, I never read it so Chewie's death never happened...

...I got my CW season 3 and was a bit suprised/shocked it didn't have the booklet packaging of the previous seasons...oh well...can't wait to re-watch the Nightsister's arc :woot:

I really enjoyed the Mortis arc.

So, is The Phantom Menace 3D going to use the new blu ray version or the original theatrical version? Have they said if it will have any changes and what not? February isn't that far away. :D

I assume it will at least have digital Yoda , there's sure to be some changes.

I don't think they've said, but I don't see why it wouldn't be the version just released on Blu-ray. The only noticeable change is the digital Yoda anyway.

I don't see Star Wars as kids films as such, I think they are wonderful escapism that are for those with a willingness to let themselves and their imagination be free, there are themes and arcs within the universe created that are relatable and resonate even at a much older age, in short there is something for everyone within the large world of Star Wars.

I have the 1st Vader. The lightsaber has to be there which is why I like it over #2 and the pose I think is more striking than #3.

I agree with you, it's just that very distinct chain that is putting me off a bit

Btw I was surprised there is no Bacara statue from Gentle Giant or Sideshow.

Vader is not a pimp !!!
Anyway, he always wore a chain ( at least in EP 4-5-6 ) but the one in the 1 statue is particulary visible.

AFAIC, I like #1 and #2 stance the most. #3 is ok, #4 I don't like at all.

I don't see any chain here.

Yes, that's her.

Go put in your blu-ray and look for her... you know you want to :oldrazz:

I'm gonna have to force myself. :D

All the Transformer films are crap. But I love them. See...admitting flaws.

That's not admitting flaws, that's saying you watch something you think is crap. The problem with you is you don't read other peoples posts properly, I reviewed each of the movies as I watched them, admitted flaws in 5 of them, just because I don't spend the bulk of my time complaining about Lucas and changes doesn't mean I agree with everything or see no issues in the movies, it just means that once I've made my view clear I don't see the need to repeat it and wallow in the negative.

This.

I think after watching all the SW films recently, I'd rank them like this.

1. A New Hope
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. Revenge of The Sith
4. Return of The Jedi
5. The Phantom Menace
6. Attack of the Clones

I just can't get into AOTC. I don't know why, I find this one a little bit bland/boring. Aside from the amazing speed chase scene in Coruscant & Jango vs Obi Wan, I wasn't enjoying it as much as the other films. For the most part, I found Count Dooku rather boring to watch.

But I absolutely love the way Coruscant looks in the film. :D

Just started playing Knights of the Old Republic II. The old lady is quite... odd. I like Atton, though. Reminds me a little bit of Carth, except more smart aleck-y. :o Just got off the planet Peragus and landed on Telos. I hope the story is as good as the first game. Darth Nihilus looks pretty cool, and the other sith who's all broken (don't know his name.)

Can't wait to read this.

Ok, I just pushed myself through Phantom Menace tonight after a long time of not watching it in one sitting. Nice to see some extensions to the pod-race, a few updated effects (ESPECIALLY YODA - holy ****, he looked REAL in some scenes - especially when he tells Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon that the counsel will decide when someone is ready to move on. It puts AOTC and ROTS Yoda to shame!) Also I forgot how entertaining the Duel of the Fates is... and how bad a lot of the dialogue is.

I cannot let myself give this a lower rating than a 6/10 (but truly it's less - no it's not - yes it is).

I've read Darth Maul : Shadow Hunter , Truce at Bakura , Dark Lord : The Rise of Darth Vader , Attack of the Clones , Revenge of the Sith , and The Crystal Star.
