Well i read somewhere that Spielberg and Coppola told Lucas he should direct the new trilogy he had in mind and convinced him to do so and not get anyone else in the driver's seat. Dunno if it's true or not or where i read it, but that's what i remember.Didn't Lucas offer Spielberg and Ron Howard the chance to do Episodes II and III respectively and Spielberg turned it down and convinced Lucas to direct all three?
Looks like we have tons of stories floating around regarding that thenI thought it was Tom Stoppard who told him to do his own thing?
I love Lucas behind the camera. I think he is a great filmmaker especially action scenes but his problem is that he doesn't know how to get actors to do what he wants effectively and I'm pretty sure he'd be the first to tell you that.
Easily my favorite non action scene is the scene right after Mace goes to the Jedi Temple In Ep. 3 while Anakin and Padme are both sitting around thinking and that haunting music is playing. Its probably one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever.
I know it would be putting him twice, but if old Ben had been there it would have been even more awesome for me. That's still fantastic though
Padme's Ruminations... haunting and beautiful indeed. One of the best movie collaborations ever has to be the one between Lucas and John Williams. Say what you want about the movies, but the scores are simply brilliant and fit in with the movies perfectly.Easily my favorite non action scene is the scene right after Mace goes to the Jedi Temple In Ep. 3 while Anakin and Padme are both sitting around thinking and that haunting music is playing. My two favorite SW movies (ANH and ROTS) are directed by Lucas, so what can i tell ya lol.
Hmm when you put it that way, i guess i'm kind of a first movie kinda gal for the most part then (although i'm torn constantly between ANH and ROTS depending on my mood), i like Fellowship, Batman Begins, The Godfather 1, Raiders better than the others. My two favourites are the middle movies of both trilogies, The Two Towers is also my favourite LOTR's movie so I guess I'm a middle guy in general.![]()

I love Lucas directing too. The man is a true pioneer. He directed completely digitally back in 2002 when Fincher was still using film.
Predictably enough this one's my favorite
Cool SW artwork by Chris Trevas!
