7)getting drunk and taking the Iron Man armor for a spin then trashing parts of New York

First thoughts - I like the movies better than the comics.

As a kid in '97, I loved loved loved INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #4 & #5 by Jim Lee/Scott Lobdell and Ryan Benjamin/Saleem Crawford. For the longest time the Heroes Reborn suit was my favourite iteration of his armour. Looking back, that run really doesn't hold up. I really liked the Kurt Busiek/Sean Chen revamp before losing interest in the character until 2008.

I went into the film as a fan of Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau, but came out an Iron Man fan. I picked up a few TPBs and liked 'Extremis' just fine, but nothing really captured the charismatic Tony Stark as portrayed by Downey Jr. Even Favreau failed with his (abandoned) comic book VIVA LAS VEGAS to bring that same level of charisma and humour. I really liked Mark Millar's portrayal of Stark in THE ULTIMATES however, and felt that was one of the rare occasions where he was just as interesting on the page as off it.

I enjoyed IRON MAN 2, but felt it went off the rails slightly with too much focus on setting-up AVENGERS. I'm really looking forward to IRON MAN 3 - Shane Black is the perfect choice as writer/director.

Yeah, dats bad.

But that jerkbag is also Avengers GPS, tsunami warning system, and random mission generator. Avengers would also be blindsided a lot without the jerkbag.

Mannnn ! I don't care if that dude. Can make lemon lime slurpees come out his butt!( those are my fav) I wouldn't follow him to 7- 11! Now cap ! That's a diferent story!

I'm a fan of movie IM, and Ultimate IM (I'm talking from Ultimates vol 1 and 2 only). 616 universe ranges from being alright to dirt-baggy.

Iron Man is the type of character that is the epitome of cool. While characters like Daredevil and Batman are cool because of the things they do, Tony Stark has the cool life that everyone wants. He should be a fun loving character like in the movie. That's how I like him best portrayed. He's got his own morals and lives up to them and all, but he still has fun and lives a kick ass lifestyle. I always get the feeling that Tony is one of the superheroes who actually loves what they do. Sure he has his issues and all, but he lives the playboy lifestyle because he loves it. That's why I like him...

It also doesn't hurt that he has a sweet suit that does all sorts of ****, and that he has multiple suits to do different tasks.

...and this dude is a HERO?? get outta here with that!

THE HULK

When Scientist David Banner started his Gamma Bomb experiment, he had no idea that it would utterly destroy his life, and transform him from a man........into a monster.

The Hulk is the one and only character that brings me close to tears when done well. He is essentially an abused child that has the strength of a monster, and that's the version I find most relevant and moving.

He a'ight. Sometimes he's written really well and I enjoy him a lot; most of the time he's written as a one-note idiot who's not worth reading about. But he's certainly... um... there. All the time. Especially now that Marvel's decided he needs to be an Avenger again after 40 years because the movie'll make more cash if he's there.

Not that I'm bitter.

:o

The Hulk is my favourite fictional character. So misunderstood - both by the characters in the story and by the real-life general public who only seem to be aware of the mindless version of the character.

I definitely dig the Hulk. It's a character where I'm on again and off again. However, I'm slowly getting into Peter David's Hulk run along with the enjoyment of the Hulk by Jeff Parker and Gabriel Hardman. That Hardman artwork is beautiful it's a shame it'll be his last issue next week. :csad:

OOOH yeah!! Thats my boy! My #1 guy!my 1st book ever at 8 years old was Hulk and I've been hooked every since. I love dude and always will!Alot of people dont dig the "idiot Hulk" but i love him! He reminds me of that innocence that we have as kids and lose as we grow up. He's that dark side that we all have, but with the power of an atom bomb. If you are straight with him he's your man till the end( ask rick jones) and if you cross him"well you really wouldnt like him when he's angry!" All you have to do leave him along and let him live in peace, but NOOOOO!!Thunderbolt Ross and the most realist bad guys ever in comics( the Goverment) just cant do that. Loved dude as Lou Ferrigerino and Bill Bixbly as they tried to do him justice with a shoestring budget thru planet Hulk! If you do right by him, He will be there with you every step of the way and if you dont.... HULK SMASH!!! Hulk Rocks like Jimi Hendricks at Woodstock!

I've usually never been a major fan of the Hulk for two reasons:

- I often found the "default" Hulk, the "Dumb Hulk" who speaks in short, one syllable words, boring.

- I often found his unbeatable status as boring. He has no physical weakness and can overpower any threat by screaming and charging at it, even more so than Juggernaut.

Virtually every other depiction of the Hulk that strayed from this usually held my attention more, such as Joe Fixit, The Professor, and Green Skarr from PLANET HULK. The version of Hulk from "AVENGERS: EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES" was also pretty cool.

Usually, though, I'm not a big fan of him. He's great when done well, but when done poorly, he's just a fanboy brute, and I see that version wayyyy too much.

The version of the Hulk in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is basically Stan Lee's version. Not smart by any stretch, but not a monosyllabic idiot either. Because Lee was a good storyteller, his Hulk could form complete sentences and display some measure of personality--you know, things that are kind of integral to any interesting protagonist. I'm still not really sure how we got so far away from Lee's original portrayal that the mentally challenged, roaring buffoon version is now considered the default.

That, and the Hulk in A:EMH isn't unbeatable. Yes, he did have his moment where he got to embarrass the entire team in a fight, but so did Capt. America and Black Panther. He's still one of the most powerful members of the team, and easily the strongest, but he never really hogged the show nor did every battle or situation end with, "throw Hulk at it". The Hulk could be challenged, and even overcome on occasion, which made his battles more interesting. Perish the thought, right? I was wary of his inclusion on that show, but overall I thought it was great.

Usually "Hulk moments" are overdone and they can grow tiresome, but because Season 1 never overplayed him, when they happened they seemed to genuinely excite. But, that's my opinion.

More of the EMH battles end with "throw Thor at it," to be honest. And then Thor in turn throws a lightning bolt the size of Texas at it.

Which is awesome. :thor:

Didn't the Hulk paralyze Rick through sheer carelessness one time?
Possibly i dont recall corp, but are we talking about Idiot Hulk, Joe fixit hulk, smart hulk, maestro hulk, Savage mindless hulk or planet hulk. the one i love the most was idio.. i prefer childish hulk. one of the best scenes( i mentioned it before) before was when Jarella died and he went to see the defenders. he asked Dr. Strange to bring her back to life. Strange said he couldnt do that and he started to cry with Valkyrie! having had someone close to me pass that scene was extremely emontional! and another was with Crackerjack Jackson there's too much but to summarize i copied the story.

Hulk #182
As he tramples through the forest he overhears music and smells food, following the senses he comes across traveling hobo Crackerjack Jackson. Jackson, a former professional harmonica musician invites the Hulk to sit down and keep him company and offers him some of the beans that he is cooking up. The Hulk accepts the invitation and the two become quick friends. The next morning Crackerjack Johnson takes the Hulk out and teaches him how to fish, while telling Hulk about his musical career and how he is on the road to go and visit his son. Later that evening Crackerjack teaches Hulk how to write his own name, much to the creatures delight and the two form a strong bond. The nearby prison. Crackerjack embarrassingly explains that his son is a prisoner there for over five years. Nonjudgmental of his new friend, the Hulk carries Crackerjack over the prison wall to meet his son. They land in the middle of securities fight with Hammer and Anvil, who are getting revenge on their former keepers. As it turns out, Hammer is Crackerjack's son and he is less than ecstatic to see his father, whom he accuses of abandoning him as a child. Reaching out for his son, Crackerjack touches the coil that attaches Hammer and Anvil together, the resulting jolt kills Crackerjack on the spot. Furious that the son of his only friend had just murdered his own father, the Hulk savagely attacks Hammer and Anvil. As prison security surrounds them the Hulk grabs up the body of Crackerjack Jackson and bounds away. Far off into the wilderness, the Hulk buries his dead friend and, with his crude writing skills writes a tomb stone marking the final resting place of someone who called Hulk his friend.
