The Strongest In The Marvel Universe?

Gladiator's first appearance (that I can remember...) was during John Byrne's run with the FF (can't remember the issue) in the 80s...Gladiator dug his fingers into the base of the Baxter Building and began to tip it over. Awesome display of pure strength; however, there is some thought that Gladiator employed some psionic control to augment his strength which is why, it is theorized, that the Baxter Building did not crumble under it's own weight. Gladiator has also boasted that he can move planets. And yes, Thor has trashed him in the past.
And yep, I agree. Stracynski has largely (if at all?) explored this aspect of current power level Thor, with the Odin force. It's there; apparently there is a learning curve involved...can't wait to see him learn to use it properly.

Why is lifting the Baxter Building so impressive?

Hercules has moved the entire island of manhattan twice by himself with pure strength.
Being that the baxter building is on manhattan, I'd say Herc's is a vastly better strength feat.

where is galactus...he can eat planets you know. forget lifting manhattan.

Hercules, IMHO, is one of those character's in Marvel that just does not get the respect he should. Guy's a frickin' powerhouse! In terms of raw brute strength, among superheros (excluding cosmic level beings like celestials, etc...) he and Thor must have the greatest base (static strength without being augmented in some way...)strength in the Marvel universe.

Gotta go with Thor for superheros. Villains? Thanos. Cosmic entities? Hmmm...Galactus, maybe? The Stranger? Superheroines? Binary (Ms. Marvel at her best!)

Galactus is not here simply because if you include comic beings the idea becomes really pointless even moreso then it does now.

Who is stronger Galctus or Eternity ...... or really who cares as their power is far beyond anything really measurable.

Juggs and Apocalypse are two characters that seemingly have been written into corners. If written to their true potential...they are off the scale. So in order to put them in stories where the heroes win, they are written poorly or beaten by plot devices.

Apoc seemingly had his way with HUlk when he took him to make him War. He is able to tap into what seems to be limitless Celestial technology and energy to augment himself as much as he desires. Sadly, we have never really seen him written to his utmost levels. Probably becaus eif we did...he wins and then everyone on the planet deemed "weak" dies. You can't have 3/4 of Marvel being killed off.

Juggs was clearly on the level with WWHulk. Hulk was smart enough to just remove Juggs form the battle rather than fight him though. Juggs was standing up to that Hulk though, even though it was the strongest HUlk has ever been.

Hulk is a beast, but it gets old seein ghis fanboys make him out to be somethign he clearly isn't: the strongest.

fair enough.

hulk then

Gladiator and Apocalypse are definately 2 characters who have been overlooked in this poll/discussion. I know its not cannon but Gladiator in the X-Men TAS was an unbelievable power house who just stood there from a punch from Juggernaut.
