And now, because Nubsy (taking cue from Hush) likes this guy more than his dad.....

GENIS-VELL

Peter David's run with the character is simply some of the absolute best comics of the last 20 years, period. Yes... It goes off the rails a bit here and there but it's near... No. It IS the equal of David's run on the Hulk. Genis was complicated, but then again... He had a complicated life. I was not a fan before David took up the character, though Busiek was the one that formed the basis for him in AVENGERS FOREVER (another of the best comics of the last 25 years or so.) and Pacheco and he really turned a sows ear into a silk purse with that one. Now, I can't say that I liked everything that happened toward the end of the run, when it seemed like Genis had gone insane due to his Cosmic Awareness (though that makes sense in many ways) but David wasn't really allowed to bring what he had in mind to fruition fully and had to bring things to an abrupt end. His use and "death" in Thunderbolts, I believe, was very disappointing.

yeah in totally agreement GENIS WAS COOL!! i really thought i would never like another Captain Marvel after the original kicked the bucket, but dude was every bit as good as the original!! really dude should be a top tier guy! loved that dude's dad wasnt around! ( well he got wasted not like he just took off) and was raised only by his mom with powers! cause of that, that whole reckless, hot headed, sure of himself thing worked with him.what made him really cool though was budding up with Rick Jones!...cause Rick after all these years was the voice of reason nowand Genis was the hot head! that dude was COOL!

I wanna go track down that PAD story now. Is there anything about the Avengers climate at the time before jumping in?

I remember reading a comic from his series in Marvel's Digital Library once, it was free to read for that duration.
A comic from 2000, story by Peter David, Hulk guest starred in it.

No idea who that is....and for the record that's no way to place a long distance call!
hehe

She hugged drunk Tony Stark and deserted him in a party.

I like the character. She was somewhat flighty and superficial, but she was the girlfriend Matt Murdock had with the first issues of Daredevil I read. She was a party girl, but she was otherwise a fairly good-hearted character.

Then it seemed everyone else dicked her over. First, Matt Murdock got her to lose her company so she would feel dependent on him. When that worked and she had nothing left, she accepted his marriage proposal. Then Foggy Nelson and Natasha Romanoff conspired to destroy their marriage by faking letters to each other. So they split up and she became a drunken mess (she wasn't innocent during this time, she did drunkenly reveal Matt's secret identity before Karen Page did it for some heroin). But the reason she was like that was because of Matt, Foggy, and Natasha. In this state, she kept trying to get attention calling Matt for help. One time, he ignored her. Unfortunately, at that time, she killed herself in a death he could have prevented.

The whole thing was tragic. I think she had a good full storyarc, though, so I like the character.

Another example of why NO ONE should become romantically involved with Matt. NO ONE.

Matt would probably have a better love life if he wasn't such an ******* to women. He's abusive, both mentally and physically, completely broken mentally with a barely functioning moral compass and runs around in tights dressed as a devil and beats up people. You'd think the last part would scare most people off.

He's also the himbo of the MU.

Yeah, there's material to be mined there if a writer wanted. He is this Catholic morality type dude but like most Catholics he's a "pick and choose" person. And yeah, dear God... the women with broken lives in this guy's wake... jeeeeeezzzzuuuuuuuus...

All because his mom abandoned him for the one guy you can't really get mad at....GOD.

I love Aaron Stack. The first time I ever read anything about him was during the Marvel Zombies books where he's an alcoholic and he's tearing apart zombies because reasons. It was hilarious and I haven't read much else with him beside the Earth X books and he was kinda bland in there but he told Uatu to go **** himself so that was pretty awesome.

One of the earliest comics I ever read was an issue of the Machine Man mini Marvel put out in the 80's. I think Barry Windsor-Smith was doing the book? It took place in the far future of 2020, and had Arno Stark as Iron Man. It was funky to say the least, much like character. He's not one I had too much eosure to. He was in some of those late 70's Avengers stories, right? That was a bit before my time. I agree with Kev, I like what they did with him in Earth X. They need to do a story where he, Vision and Jocosta sit down and decide to take on Ultron by themselves. With the audience today being so tech savvy I am sure a modern day story focusing on him could be well done and interesting.
