What I truly don't get about Ultimate Gwen is that when she first debuted in USM, everyone hated her for being this punk-rock version of the character. Gwen wasn't allowed to be anything but the "Aeris of FFVII" character type, and making her this rock-girl was so sacrilege that people hated what Bendis had done with this alternate continuity character.

Yet that's EXACTLY what Spider-Gwen and the "Spidey" comic book versions of Gwen Stacy are, and the EVERYONE'S EATING IT UP...

I like Ultimate Gwen a lot. Although, in fairness, I read the comics within the last six months rather than six years ago.

I like Ult Gwen. I find she has a lot more personality than 616 Gwen. She has more than most Ult characters whose main characterization is being a jackass.

As any who checked them out know, the Hype Awards were given out. I got three wins myself but there is one I wish had gone to other posters and the category was Comic Poster Of The Year. I'm not sure why I would be singled out (probably cuz so many of the various thread regulars NEVER go into the community section... GET ON THAT PEEPS!) but I am thankful for the votes. Still, there are three posters here that I think are more deserving of the award than myself: Spider-Aziz, KevanG and Black Vulcan. These guys keep the Opinion threads fun, are super knowledgeable and are dedicated posters in this section. Aziz makes me smile knowing he is so meticulous in his way of going through entire runs of books to soak up all the lore and continuities. Kev's mastery of the Marvel U. is damned impressive, and Vulcan is like me, an OLD school fan whose experience with these characters goes back through so many eras of DC/Marvel. Next year, one of these guys should win for sure, at least in my book.

Isn't he supposed to be or rather his origins started back in the late 50's or early 60's when Marvel was still experimenting with their comics? I'm pretty sure he was made before Spidey, FF4, DD, Thor, & the rest of the bunch.
