State Your Opinion on A Character

I love Dick.
Nightwing's great. He's the best of Batman with a dash of Superman thrown in. Excellent detective, inspirational leader, and acrobatic talent that's all his own. He's pretty much made of awesome when writers actually stay true to his character and don't try to darken him or make him do morally questionable things. I still think he should go back to being a cop, too. I loved that period of his comic. Now that he's in Gotham, he could be a star patrolman under Gordon, too.
That would actually be really damn cool, now that I think about it.

I dig Dick both as Batman and Nightwing and I loved Batman and Robin starring him and Damian. He's a neat character

People need to stop taffying him on rooftops

Can't trust a mofo with Beiber hair.

I have a friend who once said that Homelander from The Boys is what Superman would be like if he was "for realsies" and is better.

Pfft... just because I don't like certain ones... :cwink:

I don't use that many smileys in my posts woman.

He's a history major currently working towards his doctorate and regularly reads classic literature and philosophy. And yet he's also a huge Garth Ennis fanboy. Garth Ennis, the man who's entire body of work basically boils down to "I hate religion and jack off to the military." I don't quite get it.

I don't really hate Garth Ennis but there is no way that the fracking Homelander is better than Superman

I like Hitman and Hellblazer a lot, and Preacher has some great stuff but also has serious flaws, but on the whole I find Garth Ennis annoying. His military fetish gets old wicked fast and makes all of his books feel very same-y after a while. His anti-religious stance doesn't bother, at least it didn't in Preacher and Hellblazer (although there were a few moments in Preacher where it felt a little poorly executed), but then his inability to write a sympathetic religious character without making her an atheist before the story's through as seen in The Boys was irritating.

Also The Boys is one of the worst comics ever.

Spike loves him too?

It's not the only reason. :cwink:

Anyway, onto the topic at hand. I like Dick as a character but I think they've made a few missteps with him (but what character haven't they?) I really like him as Batman, the progression was so natural. I liked when he set out on his own as Nightwing, it was interesting to read about a side-kick making it for himself.

Hitman and Hellblazer are probably the two comic books of his that I really enjoyed. His other stuff that I've read I'm not so keen on

Preacher was awesome and I liked the Boys for what it is. You know, Superhero hate. :o

Honestly, out of the numerous problems I have with The Boys, the number one has to be how boring it is. Almost every other issue I've read is just two people expositing, at least one of them reiterating how much he hates super heroes over and over again without giving any information that's really new or insightful about the world the characters live in. It's like Preacher where nothing happens.

I like orange skinned chicks with green eyes and no pupils .... well since everybody else was I thought I would interject too! Hehe

The only thing that really bugs me about Ennis is his cynicism. He works on the fringes of a medium dedicated primarily to telling tales of wonder about ordinary people coupling extraordinary powers with a strong sense of moral decency to achieve amazing things... yet he believes that that's so absurdly unrealistic that he goes out of his way to s*** all over it whenever he possibly can.

Other than that, he tells some damned fine stories. Sure, they hit on the same themes over and over again, but the telling is usually distinct enough to still be interesting. Preacher and Just a Pilgrim are my favorites from him. I gave up on The Boys due to the unusually high--even for Ennis--cynicism level.

He writes super heroes pretty well when he hasn't created them himself, though. I liked it when Superman guested in Hitman.

Although, for some reason he insists on writing Spider-Man and Kyle Rayner as naive and ineffectual but well meaning. Which, like, what?

Well, that's it for love of Dick.
Now in red for no reason.

All I ask is, what the f**k is her actual origin?

I know so little about Donna Troy. I've never read anything with her in. So... recommendations please?

Hahhahahahhahahahahahhahahahah you are so wrong oh great dog headed god of the dead. Funny but hahahahahahaha oh so wrong!

Sucks! the only thing i remember good that she did was her being a photographer in Teen Titians and taking photos of half- naked chicks!( I dated this girl who met George Prez!( dont ask where!) and that guy is a serious perv. One of my favorite artist but a total perv. So he would always draw Donna taking provocative pics of chicks in TT( talk about art imitating life!). Other than that she is a horrible character, nothing more than an under developed replica of Wonder Woman to me. She sucks! That outfit sucks! what is that &^%$ made of! space dust?!? Boo! Troia or wonder girl sucks!

oopsie double post by mistake but she still sucks! Hahahaha
