State Your Opinion on A DC Character - Part 2

I've never really been a big Superman fan so I rarely have read any Batman/Superman team ups. There was a small period where I read Superman/Batman when Jeph Loeb was writing and Ed McGuiness was doing pencils. I started when they fought those Avengers rip offs and then the Bizarro/Batzarro story arc. Then I dropped the book.

Only other Superman/Batman thing I've ever read was Dark Knight Returns and that was more like a Batman vs. Superman.

Greatest team ever Pre-Crisis, pure garbage since. Hopefully that might be fixed now that Superman is back and Batman is no longer a total psychopath.

Well, the real World's Finest died in 1986, no, probably 1984 because it's a goddamn shame that this iconic series was finished by a first class hack like Joey Cavalieri. They have never been really back since then, I'd guess.

One of my favorite teams, except when they started to change the friendship into a partnership... A nail in the coffin.

George Klein, Curt Swan, Neal Adams, lots of good artists here and also the writers. DC lost their soul when they fired Bob Haney. :o

All true. Ultimately, it was Miller's doing. His hatred of Superman is what led him to suggest breaking the team up and making Superman a stooge to the US Government in the first place. A sociopath like Miller would want to do that to Superman. He hates the character, I don't care how his defenders try to rationalize it. The next time he treats Superman with respect will be the first time. That's why he put Mike W. Barr up to the Batman and the Outsiders story.

Just more reason to hate Frank Miller.

I have yet to see a Superman and Batman story that I didn't like. That's the beauty of their relationship. You can do it any way you want and it's entertaining because they work so well (as characters) together.

To act as a foil for his future version of Batman, who is the ultimate symbol of fascism/order, which kind of made mockery of the turn Silver Age Supes had taken as a symbol of the establishment.

It's not like he was pitching Supes as a government stooge for a Superman story... Or that that's how he views the character in general anyway, he played off of what was a relatively obvious observation of the direction Silver age Supes had taken.

Honestly, I don't think he hates the character at all. He just made THIS VERSION of him the character that was necessary to tell the story that he wanted.

Anyway, if you mofos are done with the soap box, that's it for Bats and Supes. :o

He is awfully close to Supes Junk right there.......

His Superman is a US Government stooge in DKR, DKSA, All-Star Batman and Robin, and in Batman and the Outsiders. The only legitimate version of Superman he has ever done anything for was four pages of bad art in Superman #400 and some horrid covers to Superman: The Secret Years.

And what he did is hardly obvious, what it is is a bad assumption by a bad writer who hates the character. **** Frank Miller. With a hot iron pike.

He's all right. I like how he started off as a Superman villain but became just as much a GL villain.

That's it for Slade.

Arrgh, I'm a pirate.

The Batman/Superman Bromance. Best in comics? YOU DECIDE!

One of the coolest superhero friendships in comics. Both of them are icons, and their personalities play off each other very well.

He didn't write Batman and the Outsiders, and the other three titles you mentioned were all various points in the timeline of a different universe, one which proved to be so popular that he was called back to it after making TDKR which was intended to be self-contained.

He has chased down writing other stuff more in the vein of the Superman that we're familiar with, as opposed to the Government stooge in the TDKR universe, but the plug got pulled on Metropolis.

With that being the case, it's hardly fair to blame him if the only Superman we're familiar with in his works exists in just the one alternate universe, when he's tried to pursue writing a different Superman story and it fell through.

He suggested that Superman would oppose getting involved in the Markovian civil war in Batman and the Outsiders to Mike W Barr and that Superman should oppose it because his masters in the US Government ordered him to. It's total ********. If he had ever written Superman anywhere with any dignity, I would admit it. His Dick Grayson is just as disgusting as his Superman. And what he had Dick to to Green Lantern in All-Star Batman and Robin was disgusting.

Miller sucks.

I just said that he hasn't had the opportunity to write Supes in any other way, so why would I be looking for you to admit that?

I'm just saying that he HAS sought out the opportunity to write him in a different way than the government stooge he was in the TDK universe, but it fell through.

Why? Because the only people at DC who have hit him up with further interest are chasing him up to write further instalments from the universe he created which produced one of the most critically acclaimed graphic novels of all time?

I loves Cyborg Superman when he's written well but I think DC have done all they can with the whole suicidally depressed cyborg thing

I'd like to see him used in a new way next time he shows up

I always liked Cyborg Superman but then Sinestro war made me love him. And I agree with Kurosawa Miller sucks.

Not as long as people keep repeating propaganda lies. :o

Oh, those Crisis Deniers. :argh:

I agree with you guys for the most part, but there comes a point where you stop having a point and start becoming a whiny old man.

Cyborg-Superman: 99% Love, 1% Hate

Hate his origins
Love his design, personality, everything else about him.

I think it's more that there comes a point where it's just comics and if a writer doesn't write your favorite character the way you like it isn't really that big of a deal because the stories that you do like still exist and there's nothing stoping another writer with the same taste as you from coming along and taking acrack at it.

That point, by the way, is at the very beginning.
