Me thinks this segment would go down better if we were to give an opinion to Dwayne McDuffie in general.

I find it funny how offended he got with comic book companies always typecasting black heroes, at a time, as skating characters, but was perfectly fine with contributing to the stereotype of black heroes always centering around the electricity-based powerset...

Black Vulcan is Black Lightning. They just changed the name because he's partially creator owned.

Static's first run was amazing. It's why he's one of my favorite characters. Virgil was a nerd, but he was still pretty cool guy. He used to crack me up both in costume and out of it. I like the current series. It has its flaws, but it's still fun. It's heavy a bit on the technobabble, but I still like the things they do beyond the cloned sisters thing. It's a shame that they didn't let Rozum do what he want. It really shows that DC just sort of let the rest of the new 52 fall into place without much planning.

Hardware had one of the greatest first issues I've ever read in comics. Then people complained about him not being a good role model and all that noise and they neutered him. The dude was perfect for what Milestone was trying to do. He was basically a pissed off employee getting back at his employer, but people couldn't just let that be.

Hardware was the &^%$! a 9 on the Rocktor scale. A smart ass brother who invented crap for his employee who used it to get evilly rich!( like that &^%$ dont happen!) i love the scene that they kept using with the parrot in the cage trying to escape and couldnt. a cage regardless of how nice it is, is still a cage. Dude has his base right under his arch enemy nose and using the crap he invented to destroy dude from within ( you can learn stuff from that) . that &^%$ was awesome and come on! that name is cool!!

He was okay, he was their Iron Man, but Marvel already had a black Iron Man and DC already had their version of Iron Man too (Steel), and he was black as well.

That said, who says there can't be multiple armored characters and if so, the race is a non-issue.

I'd say now that they've shoved the Milestone characters into the DCU he'd fit more of a Madison Jeffries roll in the DCU. You know, totally smarter than probably everybody else in the entirety of the DCU but nobody knows or cares who he is due to him being in f**kin' Canada.
