Stephen King's 'Carrie' remake

It's fine to critique the trailer and/or movie but I'm sick of this "Chloë is too pretty" crap. She is an outcast with an insane mother and she goes to school with horribly vicious girls. Just because you're not butt ugly doesn't mean you're the most popular kid in school.

How people can look at this and say it's a pile of **** is beyond me. There have been worse trailers.

Yup...that's the whole movie in a trailer.

Carrie itself is not a great movie , outside of displaying the extraordinary craftsmanship of De Palma .

Completely unnecessary.

WOAH, this looks ****ing rad. Sure there were parts that seemed goofy but has nobody here ever seen an American horror movie before? I honestly can't think of a single one that didn't have at least one goofy, hammed up moment in it

Calling it a pile of s**** before even seeing the film is whats unnecessary.

I watched the trailer. The trailer makes it look terrible. Therefore, I said it "looks" like a pile of ****.

Reading comprehension, folks.

It's called an opinion, DeVito.

but the reason i am talking about the look is because she is attractive. she is not a normal looking girl. for 15 year old kids she looks hot.

look she has tons of make up on ,perfect eyebrows and good hair. why couldnt they make her look more ugly? i understand that its a modern hollywood movie. but i dont buy her in the movie. i just dont. i am sorry.

Chloe is very cute. But did you see how her mother was treating her. Any 15 year old kid will be ****ed up and an outcast.

I'm just gonna throw this out there on the subject. I'm 29 years old so I grew up in the 90s and back then there were plenty of attractive girls that weren't popular. Some were even smoking hot. Personally I don't get this image obsession. Aren't we nerds? Shouldn't we hold ourselves to a higher standard? Chloe is VERY attractive and just an all around great actress and here in the real world, people come in every possible combination possible. So saying all this stuff just makes most of you come off as body-image obsessed misogynists IMHO.

Moore and Moretz are both excellent actresses, but if you don't dig it it's more than likely the material itself requires them to go that route.

EXACTLY! And there are kids out there just like her. More than one! Same exact familial archetype a thousand times over out there in the world some where. Same circumstances and everything. To act like this isn't realistic is just plain ignorant to me. Not calling people ignorant as in stupid so this is not a verbal attack just that they are being ignorant and not giving the matter enough thought.

I'm 29 too, and while everyone of all shapes and sizes had to take their lumps, it was the weird, unattractive ones that got it the absolute worst, at mob level intensities. Casting a pretty girl just seems easy, almost like reverse misogyny. It would have been braver to not cast someone traditionally attractive, to actually trust audiences not to recoil at the protagonist just like the bullies in the picture.

It's not a huge issue for me personally, but I can understand where these people are coming from and I don't see the need to paint them as sexist pigs because of it.

Sorry but calling people "body-image obsessed misogynists" is an attack.

I actually was pleasantly surprised by the trailer. This looks like it might be enjoyable.

What I'm hoping is that the trailer just hit all the notes of the story we already know will be in the movie, but the finished film can surprise us with strong performances and good use of special effects.

On what planet is Cissy Spacek completely unattractive?

She's not exactly a runway model walking down the hall here.

This isn't an obese character played by a super skinny actress, or a part being white washed.

And shouldn't we be far more concerned with the merits of the performance than looks here?

And on that note, so far I'm not really impressed by Moretz in what we've seen so far, which really isn't much. She's been good in most other things that I've seen her in.

This shot is interesting though.

Carrie in the book is far more empowered by the discovery of her abilities and isn't entirely sympathetic.

I've heard people say chloe is "too beautiful" which is weird to me because honestly shes not that pretty. She is slightly above average but is she exceptionally beautiful to the point where she can't play carrie? lol....no. That's ridiculous.

My qualm is that she just doesn't come across as the bullied type (or at least not in the way Carrie is supposed to be). She is pretty stylish, her clothes look brand spankin new, she has nice hair, etc. In the 1976 version Carrie was the lonely girl who did fit in not only because her mom was a religious nut but also because she was poor and disheveled. Also, Carrie has no confidence in herself. The only scene I got that from in the trailer is when the girl tells her to stop laughing at the pool. I hope we see more of that and less of chloe walking around with her new Hollister clothes. Just sayin :o

Words to the wise Bowie I would recommend toning down the attitude, you can have an intelligent convo without coming across the way you are.

Americans don't want to see ugly people. It makes them uncomfortable. :P

 And a prom scene & ending closer to the destructive scope of the novel.
