http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118052590Sony has set a March 15, 2013, opening for "Carrie," MGM's remake of Stephen King's horror tale. Chloe Moretz will star in the title role that made Sissy Spacek famous in 1976. Directed by Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry") and scripted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, story centers on a shy high-school student who uses her newly discovered telekinetic powers to exact revenge on her classmates.
MGM's planning to start shooting the reboot this summer. "Carrie" will open against Relativity's comedy "21 and Over," starring Justin Chon, Miles Teller and Sarah Wright.
MGM, which emerged from a pre-packaged bankruptcy in late 2010, has opted to partner with other distributors for its films. It tapped Sony last fall to distribute "Skyfall" and the following James Bond film.

Moore is no stranger to the genre having starred alongside Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal and has also played Lila Crane in the Psycho remake. She is currently working on the exorcism fantasy The Seventh Son for Warners.
Chloe Moretz stars as Carrie in the reboot going behind cameras for a March 13, 2013 release.
The thriller is “An adaptation of the Stephen King thriller about the hyperkinetic teenager who gets pushed too far at the prom and wreaks havoc on her fellow high school students.” King’s bestselling book was turned into the 1976 film that starred Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, Amy Irving and Piper Laurie as the repressive mother.
This would actually be in keeping with King's original source material. If you look at the book, it's strewn with various "official" documents recounting the events of Carrie's disastrous prom night -- a literary technique known as epistolary, which is pretty much the written equivalent to found footage. However, this will likely be done through a series of interviews framing the story as opposed to the traditional POV style that we've grown accustomed to over the last several years. But only time will tell how these scenes will be visually interpreted.
