Stephen King's 'Carrie' remake

Let the right one in, The karate kid, Girl with dragon tattoo. Its like hating on remakes before it comes out is the cool and hip thing to do on the hype. I remember the hate for karate kid before that came out lol

Last House on the Left. Better than the original, as far as I'm concerned. :o

What are the good ones?
There's three kinds of good ones; Ones that are better than the original, Ones that are as good as the original, and ones that while not better than the original they are still good. I'll make a full list later as it's not just Horror that has good remakes, but ones that stick out to me are Last House on the Left, Mother's Day,and Walking Tall.

The Fright Night remake was actually really good too. Much better than what its box office returns deserved. They updated it and made it its own thing, with good performances all around.

Sony to Debut First Looks at Carrie and Evil Dead at NYCC

September 19, 2012

Sony Pictures will debut exclusive first looks at the upcoming films Carrie and Evil Dead at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 13th from the Javits Center.

The panel presentations for Carrie and Evil Dead will take place between 3:45pm-4:45pm on October 13th. The Carrie panel will include the film's stars, Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, along with producer Kevin Misher and director Kimberly Peirce. Evil Dead's panel will include the film's star, Jane Levy ("Suburgatory"), producer (and star of original) Bruce Campbell and director, Fede Alvarez.

Carrie is a reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloe Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King and directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The film will be released nationwide on March 15, 2013.

In the remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, Evil Dead finds five twenty-something friends holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. Directed by Fede Alvarez, with a screenplay by Alvarez & Rodo Sayagues Mendez, the film will be released nationwide on April 12, 2013.

New York Comic Con is taking place from October 11th-14th at the Javits Center (655 West 34th Street, New York). More information can be found at NewYorkComicCon.com.

My continuing problem with hollywood's portrayals of people watching nuclear explosions from fairly close distances with the naked eye and not being blinded/incinerated, the remake of The Crazies was awesome and represents what remakes should be. There are movies out there with good premises but their execution may have been limited by technology, budget, talent whatever. The remake stands a chance of bringing something new to the table.

Star Trek reboot was also awesome.

On that note though, I don't think this film needed to be remade, but I'm open to giving it a chance.

I'd much rather see a new adaptation of "It."

This reminded me of The Hills Have Eyes which was pretty decent. I heard bad thing about The Crazies but have meaning to watch it.

In the last 10 years? I'd say Let Me In, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, True Grit, 3:10 to Yuma, Insomnia, and The Departed.

Other good ones:

The Ring
Chainsaw Massacre
Brothers
Funny Games
Solaris

Saw the teaser at Comic Con. It was standard, but going by the interviews...this could be good.

And call this number guys! 207-404-2604

The poster does have kind of a snuff film thing going on, but it's different. Almost like they're satirizing the Social Network poster.

What an awful poster. This is Carrie, not the Social Network. And we already know her damn name.

If they wanted to use that same type of poster they could have atleast changed the words to something more like "Take Her To Prom". That would have rocked. I hope the trailer looks good, but I'm going to guess it's going to look big-budget and glossy.

Some people should calm down. This is the introduction of Carrie to a new generation. A lot of young people don't know who Carrie is.

Weren't we supposed to get a trailer this weekend?

Snazzy. Gives off a great intensity.

Looks like I'm going to have to wait for youtube.
